      Since Apple released M1 hackintosh building is less attractive. M1 offered great performance for affordable price.
      Sure if beefy video card or lot of ram is needed, then Hackintosh still is nice way to go, but interesting what Apple will release in this year. Probably there will be good products for that niche as well.

      That's right if you are ready to use oldish Nvidia Cards and outdated macOS versions.
      Keep in mind that you will be not able to use the latest Xcode versions on that machine. If iOS development is in the scope for that Hackintosh build, then High Sierra is not an option. For Final Cut Pro updates you will need Catalina as well, so I do not see any point in using High Sierra today.

    Thank You for the second hackintosh video. I have a followup question. As a Unreal Engine game dev/artist all I need is MacOS for is making builds for mobile (bcoz of AR Kit) otherwise I can make builds straight from Win10. What would you recommend :? Creating Hackintosh, using some cloud service, maybe there is some other option (other than buying Mac ;) ) And in the first video I understood , You've differentiate installing MacOS on regular PC and building Hackintosh. Did I understood You right , those are two separate things ? Any advice for my simple "build" needs would be highly appreciated

    • @AivarsMeijers
      @AivarsMeijers  Před 2 lety

      Hackintosh is "installing macOS on PC". There is just a list of no-go PC parts. For example - nvidia GPUs
      You have to read a lot if you like to get Hackintosh running with zero knowledge. I could suggest you to start from OpenCore documentation: dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Install-Guide/
      Building in cloud may be more time effective for you

      I don't think it worth it with current price/performance of current M series chips.
      If your work is in macOS get whatever M1 ... M3 fits your budget and you will be happy to use it.
      If you are working mostly in win or Linux OS and need macOS just once in a while, then Hackintosh still may make sense.

    I've got a question about upgrading hackintosh hardware. Currently I am running a Catalina build with a gigabyte z390 m gaming, intel i5 9600k, red devil rx 5700 xt. Everything is running fine. Cyber Monday I bought the i9 9900k. Do you have experience with upgrading your CPU to your current Hackintosh build? Do I need to change anything in smbios before or after swaping the CPU?

      hey! Congrats on the upgrade! I don't have such experience with processor upgrades. If processors are from the same generation probably you will be fine with just swapping hardware.

    1. Do you need to make a separate iCloud account from your own Mac, incase Apple will not allow it?
    2. How do you store local files, incase the computer has a kernel panic (or just has some problem), how do you store the data?
