The reason your Casper video has so man views is for a few things: 1. It included a very popular SFF case of which people just can’t get enough of (me included) 2. Thanks for the kind words and thoughtful points. I spent a lot of time on your last 3 points (especially music) but it’s still a bit surreal, especially with having zero following prior to posting that first video.
Mild Ideas Honestly, with the skill set you have I can see you being able to create a decent following and be able to get free parts sent over for builds. Keep up the great work!
Honestly this is so good it could easily pass as one of those ads in Cinema. Loved every second of it and at the end I came out very relaxed. Thank you
I'm really excited to see another video from you as I really enjoyed your Casper video. I love your cinematography, and music and chilled vibe that your video puts out, while also showing us this amazing build come together!!
I'm planning a build close to this in the Dan A4 actually so this was awesome to watch. You also saved my life with swapping out the wifi card. I didn't even know you could do that! Great build. You're crazy for putting an i9900k and Radeon VII (same as my atx build) in such a small case.
Glad I could help. Swapping out the WiFi card isn't difficult, finding the replacement card at a reasonable price is. And I really should've gone with a 9700K for this case, but after all the tweaking it's been running beautifully for the past year
With the Casper build production and this one you just created a whole new niche genre and we are so glad to be part of this. 12.6K subs now. Next stop 100K. See you soon.
You're too kind. I borrowed a lot of conventions from food CZcamsrs I enjoy, just saw that tech had very few peaceful videos of us with our nerdy hobbies so I figured I'd try making one.
I will definitely show my village this video 👀 🤣 that comment on your last video killed me and I’m glad to see you mentioned it. I have a suggestion, I’d love to see a detailed tutorial on the software side of a hackintosh build. Might try to build one some day. Again, just wanna say you deserve all the views and subs you’ve got thus far. Congrats 🎉
Thanks :). I considered a followup tutorial video, but there are far more knowledgeable CZcamsrs that have been making Hackintosh tutorial videos for years and they cover it better than I ever could. And I'd prefer to stay on the filmmaking side of things anyways.
Awesome. Make sure you measure all your parts and be ready for a lot of fiddling to get things to fit. It's worth it after the fact, but I found this case+mod exceedingly more difficult than my earlier Louqe Ghost build.
@@MildIdeas I might have spoken too soon :) Tried to get my hands on Asetek 645LT, but it's way too loud to my taste. Not sure if it's a defect unit or if that's normal, but I guess I'm going to stick to Black Ridge for now.
Dude..... that was beautiful. I was looking for recent Hackintosh builds and this started to look a little to compact for my studio build...... but I couldn’t stop watching it. The music, the cinematography, the flow of intention. Beautiful. Also it was a little morose knowing that Apple is starting the Apple Silicon to once again corral the heard into overpriced, proprietary hardware, but this was a genuinely pleasing experience.
One of the many that subbed after the first video! this build doesn’t disappoint! did you get TB3 working? - I’m running a similar mobo build in a ghost s1 but looking for tb3 resources is slim
I don’t have any tb3 devices so can’t test, mostly based my opencore config off a GitHub repo with 90% the same parts. But if you google “CaseySJ thunderbolt”, lots of info in his builds. Lots of varying details depending on your mobo and tb3 interface.
Your videos are so satisfying! I've watched your Casper vid so many times, even bought a Wowstik! (PS. How you do like the torque? I find I need to make the first half turn by hand). The production and the music with the sound of the build was so satisfying to watch. It's therapeutic. Having recently gone down the SSF rabbithole and seeing Optimum Tech's videos, chasing Ghost S1 led me here. RIP my wallet Did you consider Win10 dual boot to run Lightroom etc with a 3950x? (I'm about to embark on this) or was intel just a much easier and more seamless option? Have considered intel i9 instead, the lure of 16 cores with 3950x is strong, but running Lightroom in MacOS vs Win10 is much cleaner Hope to see more content! Keep up the good work
Thank you good sir. Yeah, the torque on the Wowstick isn't the best, I think some newer screwdrivers came out recently with more torque but I haven't tried them out. I don't mind though, I'd rather manually torque things like CPU coolers. And lol Optimum Tech ruined my wallet too, trust. My original idea was to do the Casper 3600 -> 3950x when it released in the Louqe (maybe with a tophat), but getting a stable machine, especially for video editing, is very difficult from what I've read on the AMD forums. Like even the best builds gets micro-stutters and random kernel panics. And when I built Casper, there wasn't a mod to get Lightroom to work in macOS.
loved your style from last video and this video its tripled im into mac os and custom mod hackintoshes love to see new video! also wanted to know whether youre using OpenCore or Clover Bootloader!
100% OpenCore now. Took awhile to get familiar with that config.plist but all the documentation and community tools are so much better than Clover if you’re trying to run a vanilla install.
Mild Ideas. I have a similar build on Dan a4 V3 with the 92mm noctua fan under the mobo. The whine noise coming from that fan under the mobo is unbarable at high loads. I swaped the fan with another noctua fan, I halved the power of the fan, I also added a less agressive fan curve in BIOS but the noise is the same at high loads. Can't manage to fix it. Wanted to ask. Did you encounter the same issue? Do you have any advice on how to fix this? Thank you.
Great video. Just one question: The highest point in your AIO loop as shown, as it is in almost every build on an A4+AIO i've ever seen, is the block and hitches thereto attached. Consequently, air in the loop will settle in that location (and like it or not, all manufacturers have an "acceptable" amount of air in their AIOs; the larger the AIO the more "acceptable" air allowed). This ultimately causes significant cooling performance degradation of the AIO, higher pump noise, and ultimately premature pump failure. The question: how would you combat that? I've done several A4 builds with AIOs now, and inverting the case seems the best option (e.g. get the rad above the pump and hitches). The air settles in one corner of the rad where it does little-to-no-harm, while the pump and hitches stay full primed. This gave me much better thermals and much quieter (basically-zero) pump noise. Just a thought for your next build.
Another amazing build. Quick question tho, realistically speaking.. if Apple built a Mac to this Spec, how much would they charge for it? Honest question as I don’t know their pricing too well besides the really expensive one they have currently.
I considered a maxed out i7 Mac Mini with an EGPU but that would've been over $1k more with a 6-core CPU and 2TB less storage (and bulkier). But you get official support and resale value, so it's honestly about even. I hackintosh cause it's fun.
That was a great build video. I loved watching it. I’d also like to build a small form factor pc using Dan A4 SFX but I think I need more modest/cheaper components that what you used. I mainly need it to flawlessly run emulation for upto Wii GameCube and PS2 but it would be nice to occasionally be able to play some PC games too at modest settings. What CPU and GPU would you recommend? I was thinking something like a Ryzen 5 or 7 maybe? But I have no idea what graphics card I would need.
I am plannning to build an ITX system in an NZXT H210 for dual booting with Win and Mac OS. I am a bit tight on budget so going for AMD 3300X, any recommendation on Mobo with front usb C header (WiFi,Bluetooth - optional) . Clover or Opencore (for hackintosh)?
If you're going AMD, definitely refer to the forums on amd-osx.com for recommendations. I've done zero research on B550 or X570 boards so not sure which ones carry a USB-C header. If you're new to Hackintoshes, I'd recommend you try to match another user's build (mainly the same motherboard), solves a lot of issues with DSDTs and whatnot.
is it (thunderbolt 3 type c) slot on motherboard are support/work as well ? and last question , is it still working when build the same spesification as your recomendations but without VGA card? Amazing! thanks
Yeah, I intentionally left that footage in there to make sure people know there isn't enough torque to tighten things that really need tightening. I think some newer screwdrivers came out with more torque, but I haven't tried them out.
@Mild Ideas Great to see you back again mate. Dont be modest, work made with love and talent it's always something good to price. I know the compatibility of Hacks with AMD gpus but I want Hacks with nvidia dont let me down.
Thanks for adding cpu setting in bios used them for my same exact setup other than having a RTX Titan. Helped with temps a lot on the 9900k with the Asetek lt645. I just wish I could use my USB-C on the front of my v4.1 but the header for the usb is incorrect for this motherboard.
Yeah, glad I could help. I was pretty frustrated trying to even find screenshots of undervolting ASRock boards and it took me awhile to land on the 4 main settings I showed in the film that I think contribute the most to CPU temps. My chip wasn't happy with anything more than a -60 offset and manually set voltages never worked well for me. In hindsight, I should've looked into airflow more on what direction to point bottom fans.
Mild Ideas It definitely helped a bit went down from a max temp of 103c to around 88c the whole case gets really hot to the touch and even have my gpu undervolted to keep it from going over 75c under full load. But what can you expect for cramming all of that hardware in 7.2L I guess.
@@Cooper3312000 lol I stopped benching as soon as mine hit 95c before BIOS tweaks, pretty sure it would've broken 100 as well. Wanting the smallest powerhouse machine possible is a terrible quest. I'm still looking into undervolting my Radeon VII as well.
I've never worked with case lighting but in this particular case, you're not gonna find any room for most things. And they don't make clear panels anymore, so lighting is kinda pointless.
macOS only supports wifi cards running certain Broadcom chips in them; right now, Intel Wifi card support is in super early stages. By replacing it with that Dell card (which runs on a Broadcom chip), things like Handoff and Airdrop will work right out of the box with no additional setup needed.

That was an amazing build video, nice work! I also have the same motherboard and CPU as you're using in your build, and I've just received my Dan A4 SFX case so I was wondering how you were able to use the USB-C port on the front panel, when the Z390 Phantom Gaming-ITX board doesn't have a USB-C header on it...
If you want to be sensible, an i7-10700 or i7-10600K would make more sense as it's TDP is way more reasonable. The i7-10700K is essentially a slightly higher clock 9900K and you'll have to do a lot of tweaking to get temps to a reasonable spot, and even then it's too hot for some.
The reason your Casper video has so man views is for a few things:

Ghost S1. It's much easier to build in that and you the flexibility of adding a top hat afterwards if you need better thermals.
Where do you get your bg music?
I'm a huge fan of MusicBed (link in my description) for background music
Would this build work for Mojave ?
Do you have a version of this without music? Nice content btw.
You can just turn the sound off.
Does it make sense to put Intel i7-10700k?
If you want to be sensible, an i7-10700 or i7-10600K would make more sense as it's TDP is way more reasonable. The i7-10700K is essentially a slightly higher clock 9900K and you'll have to do a lot of tweaking to get temps to a reasonable spot, and even then it's too hot for some.
