    You can tell this killer tone isn't from the Rectifier, but rather coming from Ola's crotch. Look where the mic stand is placed. Ola, you really can make anything sound good!

    I was never able to afford an amp like this but when I filled in for a few weeks with a local hardcore band I was able to use one of these and ever since I've considered it to be the absolute best amp I've ever had the opportunity to use. Such a heavy, bur not muddy tone with no modulations. I'll get one someday.

      What were your settings? I'm having trouble with getting a crunchy low end like for pulloffs. Alot of bands like slipknot or in this moment have very crunchy low end tones even on single picked strings. I tune low in the bs or as but cant find the sweet spot. I use a ts od pedal and have that set correct and Seymour Duncan's pickups. It either sounds too flubby or thin on single cord strums. Sounds fine doing chords so I'm not sure how the single cord crunch is achieved

    I recently got a Dual Rectifier and the matching oversized cab. I was worried it would be too "Metal" for me, as I play in a cover band ranging from Eric Clapton songs to Breaking Benjamin to Stone Temple Pilots. I can say with absolute certainty that this amp can dial in ANY tone you want! Those different modes (raw.vintage.modern) on each of the gain channels really react and FEEL differently. I haven't been this pleased with an amp in a looooooong time!

  • @cdawg-switchhitter2473

    To anyone looking to buy one of these I pulled the trigger today and let me tell you...this amp is something else. After going to a high gained tube amp I will never go digital again. This amp instantly bumps. The second channel is my favorite. It’s one of those things where you’ve always wondered “why can’t I get the sound I need” I’m here to tell you get a high gained tube amp. • @brandoncurtin1947
      @brandoncurtin1947 Před 7 lety +6

      I own a triple rec and this tone is so easy to get that it isn't funny. Just get a guitar with active pickups, set the amp on channel 3, gain to 7 or 8, presence to 5, bass/mid/treble to 7/5.5/7 and you are all set. I use EMG 808 pickups and set it to 6.5/6/7 due to the pickups's naturally scooped mids and super low end. The trick to getting the best tone is a decent boost up front (ibanez tube screamer, Maxon equivalent, etc.), keeping the FX loop active with other pedals in the loop and back into the amp. There is something about the effects loop return that adds a bit more saturation to the finished tone. It isn't guitar gain as much as simply a volume boost before hitting the power amp for the real power boost.

    • @Fedethedangerous95
      @Fedethedangerous95 Před 7 lety +1

      Brandon Curtin I've heard a lot of different opinions about Recs , but nothing about fx loop acting a bit "as a boost" per se... really cool to hear! I don't really find it hard to believe that you can easily get a mind blowing tone with a trirec, a boost and a good guitar... But I have to be honest, the demos I hear on youtube of this amp rarely amuse me (compared to its potential and its deserved fame). Anyways, how do you feel about the amount of master volume necessary to make this amp work properly? I've read tales about trirecs cranked on 4x12s that needed sandbags on the back, otherwise they would move backwards for the amount of air pushed... lol

    • @brandoncurtin1947
      @brandoncurtin1947 Před 7 lety +1

      I have never heard of a trirec pushing a cab like that, but they sound amazing at loud volumes.
      As far as the volume controls go, for best tone (important note: this is with the master volume and fx loop active. You can operate the amp with the master volume bypassed and each channel volume acts like master volume. This recommendation is not for that mode as it is rarely used.), crank the clean channel to something like 8.5, and both distortion channels to about 6. From there, just use your master volume as your only volume knob. Adjust the solo volume as you see fit. The solo volume knob is purely boost, so when it is active, think of it as adding that amount to your existing channel volume. Some guys will use channel three as the rhythm tone and channel three as the solo tone. Why? Channel two's presence knob is maxxes out at a much lower level than channel three. This will prevent your solos from being too screechy. It works very well in that manner. The amp is way more flexible than you would initially think.

    • @Fedethedangerous95
      @Fedethedangerous95 Před 7 lety

      Brandon Curtin so it doesn't need to be "Bleeding ears" loud to get tight? Good news, although I don't really think I'm in the position to get one soon hahah

    You've done a fantastic job at dialing in a tone that tightens this amp up nicely. The OD seems to help it too. However it has a kind of scoopy feel with a fat low end that doesn't really do it for me. I like the Mark tone (and the Peavey 5150 family) more.

    Stupid newb question: The Triple Rectifier outputs 150 watts and the 2x12 can handle 120 watts. Is that a problem so long as the amp is kept down to reasonable levels? I ask because I noticed Ola is running it like this, I just got a Triple Recto myself, and the money is starting to run dry.
