Today we once again hear the words from one of the greats in science fiction. A man whose work wasn’t appreciated enough when he was alive but is celebrated today, Philip K. Dick.
Dick struggled with anxiety and drug addiction throughout much of his life. In 1982 he called his therapist and said he was going blind. He was told to go to the emergency room but instead he stayed home. He was found unconscious and suffered a stroke on the way to the hospital. When his family was told there was no brain activity, he was removed from life support. Philip K. Dick died March 2nd, 1982.
This is the 3rd Philip K. Dick short sci-fi story we’ve featured on our podcast. In Episode 11 you’ll hear The Eyes Have It and Episode 1 contains The Hanging Stranger. Rest assured there will be more.
Ed Morris didn’t know what sales technique was until the fasrad invaded his life… There are pushy salesmen and then there are PUSHY salesmen who refuse to give up… until they make the sale! Turn with me to page 71 in Future Science Fiction magazine in June 1954 for Sales Pitch by Philip K. Dick.
Next week on The Lost Sci-Fi Podcast, from out beyond the second sun he came; a fugitive from a dead and sterile world ... seeking solace, friends, a home, on Earth-a planet of even greater terrors…
That’s next week on The Lost Sci-Fi Podcast.

The most fantastic element of this story was that fuel stations had attendants.
Also, good name.
@Scott Miller, thank you sir! Scott Miller is such a common name, heck there are at least two of us here in Costa Rica that I know of. I appreciate you and thanks for listening.

Sorry, I was listening to this in the dark and accidentally clicked on something which said "feedback shared with the creator". Whatever that was, please ignore it.
No problem! I have no idea where that feedback is. Thanks for listening!
Lplopll
I have no idea what this means. Can you explain it please?
If I translate it to English, it just adds an "l' at the end! 😝Lploplll !
A bit outdated…
I understand. I try to remove myself from the present and step into the past when narrating and listening to these stories. Thanks for listening!
@@VintageSciFiAudiobooks Also understandable, in a way.
Written in 1953 or 1954 it's a story that's almost 70 years old. I do understand that some of our listeners find these stories dated but I appreciate you giving it a listen.
No kidding. But try to appreciate the literature of the past in the context of the era. Someday the things you like will seem outdated to a younger generation. Good writing is good writing.
