Brian's voice wasn't that bad after the 60s, he just often wasn't bothered and discarded his falsetto partly to attain a more mature image. No, there's some notable differences, hard to describe in text, but the first verse is not in the released version, the chorus is the same, there's two extra lines in the bridge after the first singing of the chorus, etc.
Actually, both songs are called "Oh Darlin' though they are indeed very different songs. As we all know, the Beach Boys hit "Darlin' sung by Carl is a completely different (and wonderful) song.
