Stuart Scott and Rich Eisen host ESPN Sportscenter, featuring Sammy Sosa of the Chicago Cubs hitting his 63rd home run of the season. ______________________________________________
I would agree, but, above all, the greatness of ESPN was on those guys. Eisen, Scott, Olbermann, Patrick, Kenny Mayne... They were the big show, not the mothership For different reasons, they are not there anymore. The only one still there able to be on that level is SVP
When sportscenter was about sports, not political talk and not yelling at each other to interrupt. I'm guessing the thumbs down is because the person doesn't understand the score screen breakdown. It's runs, hits, errors It's nice not seeing the scrolling bar at the bottom of the screen either.
Used to watch sportscenter/ESPN News to watch highlights as a kid in late 90s/early 2000s. Now things change, it’s all about debate shows almost every hour from get up to PTI
My favorite running gag of these two gems was: "...He's a hockey player. He would return." Example: Maddux gets drilled in the chest with a line drive off the bat of McGwire, but he is a hockey player, he would return". These two were so much, and amazingly they did not make it about politics.
This almost brings tears to my eyes. I used to wake up at 6am in elementary school to watch ESPN. Now, I can’t even stomach it due to all the woke political nonsense.
Stuart Scott and Rich Eisen are my 2nd favorite duo behind Keith Olbermann and Dan Patrick. Also, the Mets choked big time down the stretch. They were a much better team than the Cubs.
I'm going to play devils advocate here and say the internet, youtube and instant highlights on your phone all contributed to the downfall of Baseball Tonight. Nothing to take away from Stuart Scott, he was a fantastic analyst, but no way he has this exact enthusiasm with all of this information, videos available at your fingertips if he were still alive doing highlights today.
Back when Sportscenter was must see TV
bravesfanatic15 not anymore.
all day tv in my home
Yea it was! Now it’s all talk! They don’t show much highlights like before. Super annoying!
it was all talk back then too 🙄
it still is.
I miss this crap so much. This was ESPN at it finest. Highly respectable sports show.
That Gary Thorne call of the Sosa home run is absolutely electric
Gary Thorne is in my top 10 broadcasters of all time.
Gary Thorne was the greatest NHL broadcaster ever, no doubt.
Listening to this makes realize that we had no idea how good we had it with Stuart Scott…
Ernie Johnson is our Stuart Scott of today. I kean, there is no replacing Stuart, but both are great men.
Stuart Scott = GOAT OF ESPN!!!
RIP STUART SCOTT!!!
Man I MISS THIS VERSION ON ESPN. I WAS 14. EVERY MORNING BEFORE SCHOOL I WOULD WATCH THIS💯👊💪. STUART WAS THE TRUTH!!!!
I was 11 I grew up on this.
Me too! 6:30-7am, then watch the beginning at 7-7:30. Then head to school.
Same exact age as you. I also watched this every day before school. The good ol’ days.
Same here
classic..used to watch this in elementary school when i stayed home sick. Eisen and scott, Patrick and Mayne.
They should just bring back this style of broadcasting and visuals. It just feel right and special.

I was a senior in high school in fall of 1998, the 90s were truly the golden era of SportsCenter
R.I.P., Stuart Scott. You were a real legend.
Stuart Scott - Boo Yah!!! He was legend even in Jamaica!! He will be missed forever. I really wish the very best for his family.
In '94 - '96 while in HS, my brother & I used to stay at home 🏡 from school, from time to time to watch Sports Center and go to school late.

Sports center was my favorite thing up until around 2010ish. Not sure why but that's when I slowly stopped watching it.

Nobody quite knew Stuart like Rich and Scott Van Pelt did. Not a day goes by where they don’t think about him

They should go back to this type of presentation for a day every year, creation anniversary ?
He was the best.
So many roids in those Sammy HRs
The score was 6-3! How ironic
Nick Alow because it was Sosas 63rd HR that season

January 2015 and 2020, the worst months ever of a sports fan’s life
?
@@nba_fanboy_0425 Stu Scott and Kobe passed those months respectively
This Sportscenter was so addicted to watch.
This is back before politics F*** things up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When ESPN was great! No women anchors talking about male dominated sports. Just good casters who make sports so much entertaining
