The most heart felt speech. I watched it and teared up only to realize a year and a half later I ended up with stage 4 cancer. Thanks scott for your words of encouragement. I am continuing the fight against cancer for you buddy. It's been two years and I am still living.
Dung Nguyen keep fighting man
Keep fighting man never give up and always do good
You are as much a motivation and inspiration!
What a Speech.
Stay strong and hope u get thru it
He knew he didn't have much time. This was his goodbye to his family :'(
It was his last great day and he made it the best goodbye ever
agreed
Don’t write his story. You don’t know what he was thinking. He was a fighter. At no point would he give up. When he said goodbye to his family it was probably in a more intimate setting than an awards ceremony.
I'm positive that he did know his remaining time was short .... which makes it even more remarkable how he was able to make the CROSS-COUNTRY trek to that ESPY presentation. He had JUST been released from the hospital ... maybe TWO days prior (I know someone said how close it was ... it may have been the day before). He may have known that would be his last public appearance.
@@dhinton1 I agree, when he said “have a good rest of your life “ I believe he knew this would be his final time on tv and that was his farewell to his fans
Stage 3 hodgkins lymphoma fighter fighting the fight right now. (09/19) Thank you so much Stuart. I really needed to hear this today
Fight On!
Prayers with you.
Be strong man! God bless you and your family
My prayers are with you ...also you posted that comment on my birthday
Praying for you🥺💖
There is no way it’s already been 4 years.. Man.. RIP Stuart you touched so many people lives including mine. You’re an absolute legend.
Madman_473 right, I couldn’t believe it.
He will always be a legend. I just hope people will always show him to their kids or anyone who thinks they have it hard because he will show them what you can do in the hardest situations
Shit crazy man
7 now bro crazy
8 and I’m still inspired 😢😢🙏🏼🖤💯Miss you Craig and Stuart Rip🕊🕊
3:00-3:13. The most poweful quote I've heard on the entire network.
w h y it is
3:22-3:34 as well.
His words will be equally remembered to Coach V’s most powerful 7 word statement, “Don’t give up. Don’t ever give up.”
FACTS. couldnt agree more
@@howardbaxter2514 Ever since he said this part, I've wanted a tattoo with that incorporated! Powerful!
Goosebumps fam
RIP. my brother Stuart Scott.."As cool as the other side of the pillow"
Jashon Moore Booyah his catchphrase
+Anthony Bryant he also says "as cool as the other side of the pillow" I've been watching him since the early 90s he got a few catch phrases
Jashon Moore Blessed that he will forgotten in the world and the message he left us to inspire to never give up
+Anthony Bryant exactly he inspired me through his battle as well as through mine I also am a cancer survivor and these fights that they're talking about at the ESPYs on their own personal Journey fighting cancer is some of the hardest battles you could ever have in your life you truly have to be mentally and physically as strong as possible to get through it with standard and to stay happy and feel blessed all at the same time
Jashon Moore His daughters have been proud of his success because he was the man!
The day he died I played this. My roommate not being a sports fan didn't know who he was or his story.
The video came to an end and my roommate is wiping away tears. It takes her a minute but when she is composed she looks over at me and asks "Why did you just play that?" Without thinking I tell her the truth and bluntly say "oh I've been thinking of this video all day because he died."
...immediate waterworks. I forgot she didn't know the ending to this story.
RIP Stuart. You'll be missed.
Shampoo Fully wow, thats amazing Rest in peace
He brought the streets to ESPN not just lingoe but presence to change gears in a split second he took ESPN to a new level but u hear in his speech his bosses he was ESPN he was the boss that showed commentment and good nc values u can't beat a educated southern female or male that's committed
he was the main reason i started watching espn
penguinknees69 Last appearance was the 2014 NBA Finals when he interviewed the spurs on their championship before beating Miami in five games, I will never miss that moment when I watched him see his work! His two daughters are his family and they'll cherish his life forever?
penguinknees69 same
For me it was Stuart and Chris Berman. Once Stuart and Boomer were gone I pretty much stopped watching. I only turn it on for Monday night football. I do watch college football which is unfortunately on ABC which is part of ESPN.
I watch this every now and then to help me put life in perspective
This man and Kobe Bryant finally met again! Have a great talk boys!
Marvin Penate I want this to go viral again I think we all need to hear this for Kobe
It’s been nine years and ESPN has never been the same without this man. Stu would always read to us viewers every morning and it was always a joy to listen to. He was a part of our lives and when he passed, it felt like losing a family member. He made SportsCenter the best sports show on TV and it’s not the same without him. Thank you for all the memories Stuart Scott, RIP. ❤
He was so sick at this point in time and he still had a smile on his face and gave one of the best speeches of all time.
The 10 people who disliked this have no soul. RIP Mr. Cool as The Other Side of the Pillow
Perhaps they disliked it because it is so sad that Stuart was battling cancer and eventually died. The up and down thumbs are not enough to explain why they disliked it.
I jus said who gave thumbs down, it's at 58 now...smh at people
I loved that dam line of his...
The people who disliked likely care for a loved one who is terminal. Not all stories are about strength. My wife has stage IV cancer. It is hard to watch videos like this at this point in my life.
@@gregoryrelmore i’m so sorry bro. i hope she’s ok now
A former colleague just won his battle with cancer this morning. These words mean more now than ever.
"Have a great rest of your night and a great rest of your life."
Gets me every time
When Stu died I was emotional and realized how big a part of my life he played. Every morning Stu read me the news. Im 30 years old and still have never lost a person that was actively in my life. To this day, a man I never met was the biggest loss to me.
Well said brother, one of the best to ever grace morning sports
Indeed. Very well said Andrew.
be very grateful that u went 30 years with only scott being someone in your daily life that is now gone. as time goes by the close ones will start to go and it will be tough but perhaps u can use how u felt about scott to get through it
How did 72 people actually give thumbs down? WTF?
Daniel Toma, they are stupid.
They are viewing the video upside down
Their eyes were full of tears and they couldn't tell where the like button was
They’re the people that give up
Yeah no sense on that.
you know it’s a great speech when 8 minutes fly past like that. rip stuart
For real literally thought the same thing
FR. I didn’t even realize what I just watched was 8 minutes until you just pointed it out. Wow! Brilliant.
Ladies and gents if u r watching this tonight it has been 3 years to the day he left us. I watch this every year on this date. I looked up to stu. I love ya man. I miss u so much.
shorttim1010 😭😭🙏🏽
As soon as I likes this I started crying 😭, Stuart was such a nice man and made me love ESPN. Around the Horn reminded me of him and I miss watching him on tv but hope he’s at peace now.
Rest in Paradise
Did u watch today
Has it been 3 yrs? It feels like yesterday
R.I.P STUART SCOTT
R.I.P STUART SCOTT
My dad recently died to cancer in his bed, he started making groaning noises while exhaling during his last 4 hours. His eyes were closed and he opened them and started tearing up about an hour before he was declared dead. Rest in peace dad 😔😔
It's 2023 and I'm still crying every time I watch this
It is what it is bro 🤷 life goes on there's nothing you can do bruh
My generation of ESPN, iconic.
Him saying have a great rest of your life makes me think he knew the end was near. Through it all he always held his head high and never lost his spirit. I miss him on sports center and ESPN in general.
Watched this speech as I started a new job and am battling stage 3 Brian cancer love your words gone way too soon miss you Stuart.
Dang it man - made it through the whole speech and then when he called his daughter up - got choked up. As a fellow girl dad club member, couldn’t help it. I know how those hugs are. Can’t ever get enough of ‘em. Salute to my fav sports anchor all-time & all-time girl dad. RIP S.S. 🫡
Stuart Scott was my favorite on ESPN during the 90s and 2000s RIP
I met him at the 2013 celebrity all star game when I was 12. He was so kind and even shook my hand. I will never forget it RIP Stuart Scott
The human spirit is amazing. The emotion and strength of this man is absolutely empowering. Every time I turn my pillow over to the cool side I think of him.
I still shed a tear everytime I watch this
Hi uncle luke
Every year on his anniversary I come back to this video to remind my self to never give up on anything in life Stuart's words will live on forever RIP Stuart Scott you were as cool as the other side of the pillow.
Im here today
Sometimes i forget how inspirational this guy was. The best speech ever. This is how real man looks like.
RIP Scott
Smh I still can't believe him and Craig Sager are gone 😢 They made the NBA media fun
Man… this still hurts..STU WILL ALWAYS BE COOL AS THE OTHER SIDE OF THE PILLOW
RIP Chadwick Boseman!! Him passing from cancer today made me think of this video💔
Still can't believe he's gone...rest in power Mr. Scott
Rest In Peace Stuart Scott I always liked that guy he was just a likable ESPN sports journalist. He was funny, motivated, knowledgeable, and friendly.
Anyone else just come back here and watch this just to cry and release those pent up emotions? I mean yeah no not me tho!
How did 76 people dislike this? He was the definition of grace in the face of adversity
I never make it through this without crying.
March 7th 2023 crying at 1:48am miss Stuart Scott. Strong man.
I forgot he died I am bummed all over again.
This brought tears to my eyes. RIP Stuart Scott
It's all about "dying well"...
Everything about this clip is what is absent in everything we watch today, and what we miss, truly, deep down within all of us. The humility. The class. The inspiration. The courage. No politics. No agendas. No lecturing. Just pure entertainment and a moral lesson we can all take away. RIP to Stuart Scott, and Keifer, you showing up knowing that 24 was this man’s favorite show, is an example of what all good men should strive to be
Rest easy my man. Use to wake every morning watching you in ESPN
Stuart is the greatest. Nobody comes close. Respect, and Rest In Peace.
I grew up falling asleep to Stuart Scott’s voice on SC.. feels like a family member
He was Sportscenter. Forever be missed. Way too young!!!!
How could anyone give a thumbs down on this video, utterly ridiculous.
Stuart Scott would probably say something like "you better check yourself". Rock on Stuart, you are MISSED
It's sad that the recipient of this award passes away shortly after. 😢😢
I miss this guy!!
My sister just got diagnosed with breast cancer recently, she’s only 40 and having a really difficult time emotionally and mentally. I came back to this video to get a little inspiration for the upcoming battle our family will be embarking on. Lost my dad to prostate cancer 11 years ago today and then my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer a few weeks later. Luckily she’s 10 years free now and I know my sister will win as well. But f*ck cancer. We must end this horrible disease.
Hope and good thoughts
How could someone dislike this
This is the most emotional encouraging speech in sports history. Stuart Scott had touched the hearts and soul of every person in that audience and millions of people watching at home all while holding back the pain and anguish of Cancer. Stuart Scott beat Cancer that night and helped encourage the lives of so many people around the world dealing with Cancer as well. Stuart Scott you are a hero and we all miss you so much. Love you Stu!!
I grew up watching Scott on EPSN.
This speech gave me a very different perspective of life.
I pray to God I never have to go through what him or his family did. My leukemia is currently in remission and every once in a while when I need to be reminded to not ever give up I give this wonderful speech a listen and it rejuvenates my drive to keep going. RIP Stuart Scott you inspire so many still.
“Have a great rest of your night, and have a great rest of your life.” Stu knew he wasn’t gonna make it. And he chose to make his final big message 100% positive and inspirational. A man who loved life. Rip Stuart
Bro, when he hugged his daughter, I lost it. 😭😭
He knew his time was almost up this was a great way to go out...rest in peace STU
My Grandpa just died of stage 4 liver cancer. He touched many souls and always said “It’s nothing I can’t handle.”. He never gave up. I came to hear Stuart’s speech so I can be reminded how strong both my grandpa and Stuart was. It’s not about “losing” to cancer, it’s about fighting and being around people and seeing that your life has a purpose. Could watch this speech all day. RIP Stuart Scott💕
This showed up in my feed. Even fighting cancer, Stuart was cool as the other side of the pillow
Saddest and most emotional speech I've ever heard. R.I.P Mr. Stuart Scott.
One of my favorite sportcasters i miss him so sorry his life was cut so short he fought to the very end 😞😞😞
Stuart Scott was THE MAN.
Watching this in 2021 and still hits me the same. RIP Stuart scott. Still cooler than the other side of the pillow.
I love the Jimmy V speech every year but I didn’t grow up with Valvano I grew up with this man and I still cry with his loss
"I can't give up." Very inspiring words sir. Neither will I.
I first remember this voice on nba 2k5 when I was 8 years old on ps2. It chokes me up to this day in 2021. Brings back the good times. R.I.P brotha.
No words. How fucking great was this. Grew up watching Stuart. This broke my heart into a million pieces.
My entire childhood of Sportscenter was Stuart Scott, much ❤️ man.
The ones that put a thumbs down to this video is a pure example of the evil and demons that are in this world. This man fought his heart out and kept fighting for his precious kids that's a man and thank you stuart for fighting and leaving a legacy and a message to all of us here on earth to never give up in anything that we do.
Remember when your having a bad day think about what stuart scott went through and never 1 time complained he was a worrier.
As a father I could not even imagine have cancer and thought of leaving my son behind I could not even fathom that and this man showed courage and fought for his 2 daughters.
My sentiment exactly! There's nothing but pure evil in this world, that goes directly to thumbs down a speech of a lifetime! These people aren't fit to be called people!
Rest easy Stuart! God watch over his beautiful family!
R.I.P Stuart Scott ❤️🙏🏽. A great man and will always be remembered!
Exactly 4 years ago today he passed. Great man
The guy was truly a legend. He was a terrific broadcaster and a better person.
U will be missed
Ty mr stuart
I'm a 14 year brain and spinal cord cancer survivor I listened to ur speech and was truly inspired ty
Siehp
7 years, and it still makes me cry. RIP Stuart Scott
When they embraced on the stage , that’s when the tears fell ...
To the 71 people (it was 72 a few days ago) who gave this a "thumbs down", can you explain why? Was the speech too long? Did the camera go to the audience too often? It's one thing to not be completely riveted by this man of utter class and bravery - just the fact that he's on stage a few days after having multiple surgeries is incredible - but to deliberately give a negative gesture is mind-boggling to anyone with a soul.
Let the man rest in peace
Still tear up every time I see this. Must have seen it like 50 times.
He shaped my childhood. Such a good man. RIP
That's tough man.... Tough. Your heart goes out to him completely. I grew up with his colorful commentary. RIP
Rest in Peace good sir. You left a good mark on this world.
It’s the moment his daughter walked towards her father, upstairs bare feet and gives him a hug that brings me to tears every time.
It’s hard to believe it’s been 6 years now. RIP sir. You are greatly missed. 🙏😞
You made a difference in my life Mr. Scott thank you for living a good life.
It's 2021 and I still come back to watch this speech every now and then. Miss you lots Stuart
It hard to believe it's been five years since Stuart Scott passed away.
Recently lost my grandmother who fought 2 cancers and although might not be here today definitely beat cancer. RIP NONNA
The power of words are forever breaking barriers that inspire . Jimmy V’s speech can’t be topped imo but stu sealed his legacy with this display of courage
We miss ya!! You were always my fav commentator!
Now you're in heaven commentating all the legends we've lost!!
Every time I watch this it’s like I’m hearing it for the first time, incredible, heartfelt, and most genuine speech. RIP Stu! You’re loved and thought about every single day.
If the world had more men like Stuart Scott walking around the world would be a far better place. Rest easy and you are the definition of what being as cool as the other side of the pillow really is.
I miss this man. Sure try to remember his words, no matter what life throws at me.
love ya, Stew! I will holler at my boy when I see him in heaven! ❤️
The 🐐, may he rest in peace 🙏
As a fellow brother who has had to endure the pain of cancer and it’s hardships it brings ... we miss you man . Sleep easy ❤️
When you die you don't lose to cancer. The way you live while you're battling cancer, the manner in which you conduct yourself, is what conquers that. Thank you Stuart. I needed that as much as you needed that hug brother. Peace.
