  • In this video I am presenting the final version of the OGYs Bass reinforcement unit - the add on to the OGY stand-mount loudspeakers. In fact the synergies we obtained are interesting to the point that maybe you can even say that this is a new speaker. I am discussing the construction, the details and the philosophy behind it. So if you are after a set of audiophile loudspeakers with high efficiency to play with tube amplifiers - Single Ended Triode for example (but not only) that offer wide and deep soundstage, detail, speed and natural true sound it can be interesting for you. Late night quiet listening but with body? You can find it here. This is the third movie in the triptych started with The Ogys Heart of Bass that was inspired by ‪@Jayiyagi‬ review of the OGY loudspeakers. Available direct from our web shop at stereopolis.com

    I have the white OGY on timber stands. They are still running in but I’m very pleased with the sound. The sound is very open, with fast transients and excellent rendition of notes and details. I have had experience of other larger full range drivers with 8inch and 10inch drivers in TWQT cabinets. I was surprised that the bass from OGY in a 20 m2 room is very impressive and the bass is almost comparable. The mid and highs of the OGY are more revealing.
    As regards the OB bass stand for OGY, I’m impressed by the integration and like the machined support for the bass driver. I also like the plain birch ply finish of the stands. For me it’s the best finish and goes well with the white Corian. Well done 👍.

    My sons a professional classical musician trombone being his first instrument bass or tenor so I get to many live performances of orchestras. These handled the horn section so beautifully the speed and clarity of the brass section spot on.

    Greeting! I wonder if the system can be very close to the back wall, for example 40 cm maximum? and 40 cm from side walls..room is 24 m2

      Yes, not sure if always optimal, do not know the geometry of you room. area is not everything. If you are in equilateral triangle geometry (listening postition and speakers) should be ok

    How do these compare to the BOB? Is there benefit to choose one over the other to pair with OGY?

    • @closeracoustics6154
      @closeracoustics6154  Před 5 měsíci

      Well if you want one pair then OGYs Bass is better as it incorporates the stand. BOBs are devised more to have at least two pairs which gives even fuller sound even in small room (like 16 sqm).

    I already have the Dynaudio Sub 6 and prefer bookshelves because of their footprint. Would this combo be fairly similar to OGY Bass? Steve huff said most subwoofers are not as fast.

      Well, if you use an active subwoofer then you will have a sound of a monitor plus a subwoofer. Integration with OGYs Bass or Bob is more like a one two way loudspeaker. The frequency where OGY blends with the woofer is low (125Hz) so the sound is really homogenous. I hopo it helps :)

      @@closeracoustics6154 thx for quick response! Just discovered your own video as a response to Jay's review. Subs will always be harder to integrate. I will have to play around with that and can always upgrade to BOB if the wife allows :)

      @@closeracoustics6154 can the BOB’s be placed more behind ogy on stands? So they would be more out of sight. Or is placenment/alignment more crucial then subwoofer?
