This video hit home. I come from a very traditional Mexico household too and I wanted to study psychology but my parents didn't believe that I'd be able to be successful so I decided to do computer science. Needless to say I hated it. So now I'm studying human development and my goal is to become a school psychologist and hopefully open a non profit in a community where those resources are lacking. I hope to end up as successful as you. Thank you for inspiring us and so many other people with your makeup and your stories ❤️

Melissa, I found your channel in 2015 when looking specifically for a Latina CZcamsr. You popped up. You are an inspiration to many, and know that you are supported. You are absolutely right, if you are unhappy, change it, do something about it. I did just that last month after 5 years at my last job, where I became miserable. Now, I get to work from home and make double $$ than my last job. It's truly a blessing. Our Mexican parents only expect the best from us. We work hard to play hard. The hard work ethic is instilled in us since we are born. Thank you for being your natural self, always.

I teared up hearing about your story, Melissa! It was so awesome to hear about what you went through to get where you are now. I love makeup but I know it's definitely just a hobby for me. 2018 was a big year for me as well. After struggling with different careers and being "unsuccessful" in my Indian parents' eyes, I finally settled on a career I love. I became a nurse and I love it! From a traditional mexican family as well and I have also always wanted to do makeup, design, painting, all these different creative outlets and I ended up studying business because that’s just what you do, you go to school, you study and get a job. This is incredibly inspiring. I subscribed in late 2017 and I truly love your channel and just overall personality. It is really great to finally have someone to look up to that is also Latina and grew up in a similar manner as me. I really enjoyed hearing this because all my life I've wanted to be an actress. I mean it was something I tried pursuing multiple times but kept giving up because of anxiety or insecurities. Also the idea of doing something so unconventional scared me. But hearing how you started and the same doubt and fright you had is so reassuring. It shows me that you can make anything possible. This has really motivated me to keep pursuing acting and to keep trying my hardest to make this dream come true. I thank you for sharing your story. And I thank you for making me feel like I can really do what i set my mind to.
