I'm honestly ok with sponsorships, I just don't like it when it's clear that the person It's not being genuine or turns into a sellout. We get that It's your job and you invest a lot of work into it, we just want to see that you heart's really in it, you know?
you also gotta know that she had a lot of videos to do but were pushed back bc of the eye surgery and she had a deadline and it happened to she had to make em fast after she was done hence a good nr of videos w a sponsorship lately. usualy yea they're spread out but rnc she had the eyesurgery and many were postponed with a deadline.
also for ex the redkin one she already uses them a lot.
yes completely understand - and i genuinely love what I do, love shooting my own content, sharing my wealth of information and overall just being HELPFUL and I never want any of that to change. But also gotta make an income haha

I frickin love you Melissa and I love your friend!!!! You dont do many sponsorships and when you do they are genuine. Some youtubers just do it for payment and you can absolutely tell. Make your money melissa you deserve it. I bought that whole new redken line you recommended and I'm obsessed. For example, one youtuber did a conair bliwdryer and we know what bliwdryer she has used for years. Turns me off. With you it's different. You are authentic. I love you so much

I don’t mind sponsorships! It’s just when I see the same ones from the influencers I follow like hellofresh, care of, vanity planet, olay etc and people say the same things! Or when it’s not genuinely done.
You guys do yours very well though ❤️ I really like how Sazan tried out the maybelline lash growing serum for a week or 2 before she said her final thoughts.

That's why ill never promote skinny tea, it's just not for me even tho others may love it, ya know?

ONE QUESTION: One thing I’ve always been curious about is when influencers feature each other on your channels and then tell us to check out the other creators channel, is there any sort of transaction or something there or is it just friends being good friends? Obviously you guys would only ever promote people you truly love and want to succeed, but is there any more to it?

My only gripe with sponsorships is “LOVE”. When they use love for every sponsorship it gets annoying bc your left with well you loved that serum 2 months ago and now you love this one. That’s my only complaint about them. I still watch and support but you can like a sponsored product and not say you love them. Not saying you girls do this. Just a general comment.
Looooved how open you two were. I agree with a previous comment that the one scenario that makes sponsorship's seem contrived versus an organic authentic relationship between influencers and a brand is when you see the same brand promoted through sponsored videos/Instagram posts by a ton of people all within a span of 2-3 days. That to me screams quantity over quality. I understand that's how a campaign works but as a consumer that leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I just think it’s great that as an influencer you can work from home, with your partner, and have companies reach out to you to help them for $$$ in exchange. I think it’s smart, and I wish I had the guts to do what you ladies do. I don’t think people understand how difficult it can be to take a pic or video edit and have it approved in-order to upload for the whole world to watch. Just taking a selfie or picture to upload is difficult enough, now imagine having to do it for a recognized company, having to do in order for you to have something to eat, to wear or to live.

I work professionally as an editor and ppl just have no clue the work and artistry that goes into creating these videos. As a consumer if you don’t feel someone is authentic... don’t follow/subscribe.

You’re right, getting to a tropical island & having to go to a big, group dinner where everything is paid for & then having to do group activities like parties on yachts, hiking, snorkeling, & again, it’s all paid for. That’s not a holiday.🙄
Also, YT & IG were free before they were monopolised by influencers selling stuff. I loved insta when it first came out- it was a social media platform, a free platform, that was basically about taking, editing & sharing photos. Then people realised they could make money from it. YT was free before too- back when people filmed videos for the love of it- so I don’t know why you think we’d have to pay for it if it weren’t for influencers & their sponsorships?
MrsBungle78 yes - it’s always been free and we worked for free, no one was making a real income and you had to work other jobs on top of making content. And if ever given the opportunity I would love to let someone go on a branded trip on my place to see if they could keep up with the deliverables and still have fun. Yes we have fun but in between we’re having to insure we’re grabbing the content we need, running to a laptop to review the content, edit the content, make the content go live then get ready for events and repeat.

I highly dislike when youtubers (not you) dont upload for weeks but seen on ig partying and the 1st upload is sponsored. I still like the youtuber but question the choice they made
Ashley Lamora the main reason this happens, mainly speaking for myself here, is because for example - I pre filmed 12 videos before my eye surgery. My doctor didn’t clear me to start filming again until mid April so I ran out of videos. Some videos that had to be pre filmed were sponsored and slated to go live a certain date. It absolutely SUCKED that I ran out of videos and couldn’t film more BUT my sponsored one was ready so instead of not having videos for another week I decided to upload for the sake of having content because I do love all my content (sponsored or not) and to also have it go up in the time frame the brand requested. Also sometimes same thing, you’ll have your sponsored video ready but then life happens and the videos you planned on having go up before the sponsored video done go up and again you have a situation were you haven’t posted in a week and decide to post the sponsored one because it’s ready, Hope this clarifies things!

I'm talking one youtuber who is so loyal to this hairdryer for years and then does one sponsored video for conair and then we never hear of it again. we all know she doesnt use conair. I dont personally like that. I didnt even know you did any other sponsorships other than the redken one and I bought all of it and it has already made a difference in the feel of my hair so thank you! You are always open and I love you for that.
I'm not saying you in specific. There were 2 youtubers that did that but were posting partying on ig everyday. That type of thing. Rubs me the wrong way. I guess one of the harder parts about supporting sponsorships is that there are several several sponsorships done with brands that are extremely expensive to those of us that have to purchase the product. So by that point, when I know I can’t go out and buy the new Charlotte tilbury or Dior eye shadow palette being advertised, I have no interest in watching that content. Whereas the products you guys buy out of pocket and comment on its affordability- it seems a lot more realistic and attainable to the broader, general population.

No shame in earning that dough Melissa! But yes, there's a balance. There are some influencers who only publish a video when they have a sponsorship..basically using their subscriber base to market products. There's no other value so there's no reason for those subscribers to trust those types of influencers. No one wants to feel like they are just pawns in the beauty industry machine. What I love about you Melissa is that you have a variety of different types of content that's actually useful for your subscribers and I believe you when you say "hey this product is pretty great." Anyway, keep up the authenticity!

I actually love sponsored stuff? Because I like seeing my favorite youtubers become successful in what they do. And you don’t have to trust every youtuber doing these .. look for people like Sazan and Melissa who are always so blunt and humbly honest.
It sucks when other influencers make sponsorship videos that ARENT authentic and you can totally tell.. they’re the ones that ruin the name for the good creators that actually put a lot of effort and thought into their videos
I have zero support at home about my channel and I film in the basement in secret. My 8 year old daughter supports me and that keeps me going. I am 33 but look 23 so I can get away with this for awhile but I dont know if I will even get 500 subscribers in years. What are some ways to up your game and gain subscribers?
I know exactly how sponsorships work by researching. You and the brand must meet in the middle and they need to approve the video etc they sometimes threaten etc. You live redken and have for long time so you got a sponsorship yay. I have 145 subscribers I just started out 2 months ago. I'm going to keep plugging along and if I ever get a sponsorship, I will disclose it on camera I'm not embarrassed. I hope to be where you are someday
