Wow, arguably more fully featured than an Apollo interface, and hundreds of dollars less. Those pre's sound crystal clear as well. Definitely on my radar for an upgrade in the future.
Thanks Bandrew. I was hesitant about this interface since I thought it to work only on DC power (did not read specs before). Your explanation at 5:05 clarified this to me.
It took me a moment to find the value in this interface but then it hit me like a bag of bricks. This thing offers modularity and versatility for professionals. An example would be a small, local artist going on tour throughout the state working with others and might not always have access to a studio other than his bus and laptop. I don't think I will be picking this up at that price point but if I see it on sale somewhere for around $300 I might.
The ADAT feature on a small 2 preamp unit is pretty amazing, I bought a refurbished Scarlett 18i8 for $240 (about $100 less then brand new) just for this reason. The price makes this a luxury item that would make my wife shoot me into orbit if purchased. Great review and congrats on snagging it!
@@fulesmackofule the usb hub is like a 30c addition lmao its just a cute cherry on top to give customers. the pre amps in this thing are on par with the best Universal Audio and Apogee pre-amps (which is the main determining factor of interface price). this thing has way more features compared to the UAD (minus the UAD processor) for a cheaper price
We, audiophiles have waited so long for this piece to be released! At last! How did you find, in particular, the preamps? Clean? Gain? Noise in loud level? Arturia always sounded very proud of the preamps created for this interface!
So many people crying about the price. For example compare to the Apogee Duet at the same price. AudioFuse blows it away. Yes, there are more affordable choices but not with all these hardware choices. This thing is a beast! If the price is too much for you then this device is not for you.
+voodooru i could not agree with you more. This is obviously not going to be for someone who wants to record mine craft videos on a budget. This is positioned to compete directly with Apogee and UA.
I'm so jealous Bandrew . You got all these amazing mics in there . You got some interfaces .... You know how to use these things . You could start a recording studio and have people pay you to record in there . And they can choose mic , interface etc. . I wish I could have more than just a Blue Snowball iCE and a homemade popfilter ....
Thanks Becky! And I would NEVER want to record other people. I lived with a friend who ran a studio, and the editing and mixing stages always seemed like a nightmare. And then when you send the rough mixes for notes...YIKES! =) I like the writing and arranging portion a lot more. And keep working at it and one day you'll be able to pick up some higher end gear. It's a marathon not a sprint.
Mic gain at 25% and no audio boost needed in post...impressive. And so quiet. I'm currently waiting for their 8-Pre to be in stock somewhere...anywhere. :)
Very interesting review Bandrew... Amazing Interface... maybe could be interesting make a comparison with the Zoom´s recorders H6 & F4... Greetings, and go ahead with your amazing channels!!!
Hi nice very nice review!!!! I was wondering if you could answer this question... Is it possible to use output A and B at the same time ??? I mean, for ex, in your DAW you have 4 mono instruments recorded, and may be you could route then like guitar to A(L) and bass to A(R) (thats speaker 1) and keyboard to B(L) and drums to B(R) (thats speker 2).... is that possible??? like presonus studio 26 or scarlet 2i4 . . .THanksssss
I love this card, had it for a coupla weeks now and wished I'd had it sooner! Just one question, What's the deal with the double USB? am I supposed to have both of them plugged in?
Any recommendation for an audio interface for a cheaper price that has a digital output? I would use it for a guitar mainly, but i would then as well avoid using my built-in Realtek audio for DTS/Dolby if available for a reasonably price. Thanks
A couple of issues with this interface that no one has mentioned. First, it gets extremely warm. I've owned several interfaces, from Focusrite to RME and I never felt any sort of heat being generated. Per Arturia, this is ok because it's an aluminum casing and it works like a heat sink. I get concerned if my MacBook Pro gets this hot. Secondly, it doesn't handle changes in sample rates. At all. Say you've got a track you're working on and you want to check a wav file outside your DAW, they are at 44.1k and 48.0k respectively. The interface will make loud clicking noises through your monitoring solutions. And then will work on either one or the other, or in some cases cease working requiring a restart or reinstall of the driver. My other interfaces don't even blink. I've opened a ticket with them on this. I want to love this interface, I love the manual controls and flexibility, but in spite of the extremely lengthy wait it seems there are still issues to work out.
I'm just concerned about the longevity of the device with the heat issues. On the sample rate issue, as I said they did open a ticket so it may be resolved with an update. I was worried about damage to my monitors so I've switched interfaces until I see a fix. I also wish the button didn't open the control center, but was a power switch. It would be nice to turn it off after a session by button rather than have to unplug the USB and power plugs. Especially given the heat issues.
13 strigoi yeah. Maybe that could be rolled out in an update as well. I would like to see a power button because unplugging it every time I'm down is kind of a pain.
As AudioFuse is very compact, Arturia decided to optimize the heat dissipation to its maximum. To do that, they packed all the electronics in a solid unibody aluminium chassis. This way, the metal thermal conductivity is preserved, resulting in a very efficient heat dissipation. So that's totally normal!
Great Review, I have audiofuse and i've a question? My last interface is Focusrite Saffire 24 DSP and it's possible to Capture Sounds from youtube or audio players directly record into my DAW. This moment with Audiofuse I can't do this. How do I do!? Thank You
seeing as this is the most expensive thing you have viewed to date, any chance you could review the Sennheiser MD441u? Retail is $900, but you can find used for anywhere near $400.
I'd recommend the UAD Arrow, which is cheaper and offers around everything which there's in there, the preamps are amazing and you get some dsp processing.
I wish I could review AUNA mics, I get requests all the time, but they're not available in the U.S. I even reached out to the company to try and order them from them, and never received any replies.
Thanks again man! I know it's super expensive. For most people this is overkill though. It will really shine for professional applications like recording records...but boy is it fun to play with.
Hey man, really like your videos and respect your knowledge in this field so I have a question for you. What's the best software for voice changing for voice overs?
I'm getting into pc gaming and have just built my first computer. I would like to get a better mic than what I currently have, I have the astro a40s. what do you advise getting? (for about $150 U.S.)
On my mac I had the latency down to a between 5-6 ms (listed in the review). I don't know about windows. I have also never used an RME interface so I cannot say with any certainty how it compares.
Great interface in terms of ergonomics and features howevere I've heard the ASIO performance isn't any better than a £80 forcusrite solo interface. In fact the ASIO performance could be worse as focusrite write there own drivers however the Arturia uses 3rd party ASIO drivers.
@@Podcastage Do you still think, 3 years on, it holds up as well as it did when you reviewed it? Up to 72dB of clean gain at this price range for such a compact desktop interface looks too good to be true! I also see there's a Rev 2 model out. Do you know what the changes are?
Not necessarily. My understanding is the entire chassis is functioning as a heat sync. I have not used the Apollo Solo, but if you like UA and their plugin ecosystem it's functional for VO recording and the like. If you're doing full mixes, it doesn't have sufficient processor power for real time. However, now that I mention that, I think UA allows their plugins to run off of computer hardware.

do you think that the BM-800 and the Behringer UM2 would go really well? I want a mic for possible recordings bit mostly communications, this setup seems cheap and although I have a headset mic I usually switch between headset and earphones so I need a mic on it's own. The NW-700 looks good as well so do you think of that as any good? This is really directed at anyone not just Podcastage. I'm looking for anyone with long time use with these items.
This sounds good and has a lot of features, but it's really only useful as long as computers still have that style of USB port. I think if I was going to spend that much on a preamp I'd probably get something from Warm Audio or something similar and pocket the difference, or maybe buy a new microphone with it.
The Golden Age Project Pre-73 is another excellent option, and it has 80db of gain on tap. It might even have a better price / perfomance ratio than the Warm Audio stuff.
My friend wants to record audio for his CZcams videos. He wants a mic to connect to his IPhone. In the future he plans on getting a pc and wants the mic to work on his pc as well. What do you recommend he should get.
Do the multiple USB allow you to in / out to multiple pcs? Like recording to both mac and pc at the same time? Also the talk back button, I'm a little confused on..
No it does not. It's a simple usb hub. And the talk back button would be used when you have someone in a vocal booth or another room. You could speak directly to them without having to connect a microphone to this thing to do so.
Thank you. I'm always trying to find a way to connect both my pc and mac without having to run more cables to my pro fx12. I find I get more electrical interference doing it this way.
Doesn't help my want right now for a minimal interface with decent pre-post controllers for a live streaming with a dynamic mic. Just want 1 mic, 1 box set up. Guess I will just decide not to get the SM7b this go around.
eric archer The Yamaha MG06 is the closest thing I've found to that. MG10XU can do compression and it's pretty affordable on eBay. I dunno what you consider "affordable", but the Yamaha preamps are pretty much the best of the low-mid tier market, and you get 4 of them with the MG10XU for $200 new or a bit less if used. You can crank it up to 100% gain (60dB) and get negligible distortion. You might also want to consider getting a Steinberg UR12 for about $75 new, it comes with 1 of the Yamaha preamps and you could probably hook it up to a different compressor or mixer. I dunno about 1 box that can do all of that, though.
Podcastage that's what makes me laugh when someone advises a Scarlett solo then the other guy wants something "cheaper", you couldn't get anything for less than a grand not too many years ago yet £100 is too expensive.
Bought an Emu 1212m in 2006 for £99. That was the retail price no haggling required. 2 in/2out balanced, +4/-10 switchable, ADAT/SPDIF/MIDI in/out, Firewire, 24-bit/192kHz, breakout box with quality pre-amps on the 1616. One of the most comprehensive mixer panels I've ever seen with onboard processing, and since it ran from the PCI buss super low latency too beating most USB boxes today. I think you'll find there were _more_ than decent interfaces a few years ago for well under £1000!
I still use it every week on my podcast. I'm running my SM7b into a CL-1 then into a DBX286s, but it absolutely does everything I need it to and more. I love it still.
Podcastage Thanks so much for recommending it and confirming that it’s a great device. I have the dbx with CL for my SM7b but I think I’m going to try the audiofuse and fethead for my RE320 just to test a different combo. Happy holidays Bandrew ❤️

Not that I recall. But you should check their website to see if they have any software listed.
@@Podcastage will do! Btw are u still using the audiofuse to this day? anything you've learnt from it and what are things u perhaps don't like?
Is this better than the focusrite 2i2? If so, what makes it better?
French engineering for the win!
woo was not ready for that price i was like please don't be 200 dollars again, lol nearly flip my table when it was shown to be 600
Haha! I know it's not cheap.
Considering not too many years ago you couldn't get a decent audio interface for less than £1000 this sounds like a steal.
The cost of computer based recording has plummeted over the last 10-15 years. It's amazing what we're able to get nowadays. It really is super cool!
I'll be sticking to my m-audio mtrack 2x2.
Rme babyface pro or this ?
Man, I don't even know what to do with half of those ports.
To make sure I didn't screw anythign up, I even read through the 40 page manual. HAHA!
$600! are you rich?
I wish I was rich...then maybe I wouldn't have to work a soul sucking full time job while making these videos in my free time. =)
Podcastage that's...kinda...dark...
DotCD that's because life is dark and full of disappointment. Hahaha!
Podcastage oh... Imma go be scarred for life now...
It is called the passion.
good price.
If it had wings it would fly. nice.
Are you still using this? Does it still fit your needs paired with the SM7b? I have it in my cart right now lol.
Happy holidays Bandrew ❤️
i want.....siiiiii
I'm bit confused in these 3 audio interface I'm looking for vocals recodings please help me 1) steingberg ur12... 2) focusrite Scarlett solo ....3) behringer umc202 will be waiting reply....a fan from India
Audiofuse is great for recording vocals , it has great dynamics and very low noise!
bit overkill for nt1 lol
You need to start using a preamp!
ironmatic 1 I use the DBX286s for my podcast but I'm not going to include it in the chain for reviews as it will impact the sound and give people the wrong idea of the performance of different devices.
Nice, these interfaces just sound so flat (which is good) when they're by themselves.
$600? Jheez! I think I'll just get a scarlett 2i2! Great review nevertheless!
Yeah! The 2i2 will likely serve you great for year to come. That thing is RAD!
hehe, ok thanks!
Oscar Hodges That’s What I’m Going For. I Have The Alesis iO2 Express, My First Interface. The Scarlett 2i2 Seems To Have Better Audio Quality, Latency, And Resolves Clipping Issues, That Came With The First Round of Focusrite Scarlett Interfaces.
7th comment 🙌🤙👍
For 100$ more you can get the suppa duppa RME Babyface pro,I bought it,we'll....man now THIS is an impressive audio interface, get one you will understand what I mean.
