More on the Mosquito helicopter here www.composite-fx.com
Still at Composite FX. In this video we get a brief run-through on how to operate the Mosquito helicopter. We do a cockpit flow, run up and startup of the turbine engine.
In the aircraft, You have your control stick, also known as the cyclic which is used to control the forward, backward and left to right movements of the aircraft. Also you have your collective handle bar which is used to gain lift all descend. The collective bar is also attached to the throttle.
In the panel, this helicopter is equipped with an MGL electronic flight information system. Here you can read and get all the data for your engine. You have a master switch on the lower right hand of the pilot.

How cost this device?
Why?
How much
I just kept thinking: Whatever you do dude, don't stand up straight.
It would be very easy to forget if your mind was elsewhere. You'd never do it twice though.
It’s scary.
it isnt just a helicopter...
it also doubles as a decapitator..
So true.. Me too..😆
Missing a head .Lol
See, this is something every flying enthusiast should have! Imagine just flying back and forth to work everyday.
I have enough trouble with people who allegedly "drive" back and forth to work every day.
your neighbors would be thrilled
@@sesarman Just to fly it back in forth to work. At 5am in the morning!
@@heartofthunder1440 unless you live on a farm and work at a ranch (they're very loud) Not possible in any suburban environment.
@@sesarman Don’t sound to much louder than the straight pipes that’s on my Harley Davidson. But, yeah I see what your saying. Still would be a pretty good thing to have, especially if a person is into this sorta stuff. A perfect use for it would be a type of a drone with a camera or video equipment on the front of it. You could put together some real nice media for just about anything.
Whenever I fly in helicopters, I’m always so impressed with how good the pilots are at what they do.
YOU HAVE TO BE GOOD, OR YOU WON'T LIVE TOO LONG.
I wouldn't be too impressed till the engine fails and everybody onboard survives the landing.
@@Cryptonymicus you learn to auto rotate before you even get a private
First time I've actually heard an explanation of how to start/fly a helicopter. It is pretty complicated but I guess if you do it a dozen times or so it'll become second nature-good vid.
The flow didn’t sound that complicated and there’s probably a checklist on how to do it on hand. That’s how airplanes are.
Uh, are you for real? I have been flying these for over 30 years and still need assistance on startup.
@@meintingles4396 Sounds like you should have quit a long time ago.
@tom-zs6db sounds like you should have shut your sewer and not assume you matter, a long time ago.
As a “lefty” I love that the control arm is centered, explained very well, thank-you for this share!
And the neighbors used to hate it when he started his Harley...

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
You mean just go to the end of the video.
Thanks
Great teaching ability. Loved it. Best explanation of a turbine start I've heard.
in 4k, this is simply beautiful. wish this video included him flying. hopefully the next video is in 4k as well
I always wanted this when I was like 5 cause of my imagination of being in the army😂
Hahahaha
So I'm not the only one 😅
I'm 34 and I wish I had one now. I would still pretend I was in the army and doing all kinds of krayzie cool missions lol

Hi
First, this turbine Mosquito may just be the ultimate expression of flight. It's what we all dream of, but- is somewhat outside of the fixed wing focus of most beginner pilots. The concept of lifting off, hovering and controlled flight in it is straight up AWESOME. Wierd, but, practicing power off landings (auto rotate) in a $50k experimental scares the life out of me! So, as exciting, cool and great as it seems- I'll watch you, OK? Apparently, middle age and self preservation prevent me from truly considering a Mosquito, Mike. Obviously, thank you- I'll watch every minute you post up on it!
Thank you!
Honestly- a personal helicopter with enough power & strength (Mosquito XEL) is incredibly tempting. Heck, it even sounds right, and, it definitely looks awesome, but, i think the glide ratio is, umm ZERO. Thanks to Mike's interest, I checked out some other videos of them in flight- very agile and capable in the right hands. I get completely stuck with the possible falling out of the air- OK- stopping descent using hard or immovable objects- i.e. the ground. Parachute? Airbag? I even watched auto- gyro vids in an effort to overcome it- I'm just too old. Sooo tempting, but... I sense that I'm gonna have to watch you & Mike post up videos, maybe even come & watch some time, but, gravity, fear of heights, an over-developed sense of self-preservation, total wimpiness prevent me from flying one- under any circumstances. Promise to cheerlead from the sidelines tho in my ground based lawn chair, OK? I DID a helicopter trip into the volcanos in Hawaii years ago... I'm out. More seat time for you tho :)
Actually if you get the proper training and understanding how to maintain them not any more risk then owning any type of GA aircraft notice how I say GA reality is all GA has some risk try to manage it with proper training. The cost and build time is what is really good the problem I see is getting a PPL rating for helicopters according to website $15k is what they charge. If you register the thing with the FAA can land at most airports. Autorotating is safer then trying to find a place to land a Cessna. You should go take an intro flight training and have them do some auto's and explain how it works.
Thank you blastman8888- I agree wholeheartedly. I was so interested, I did a ton more research, watched a lot of auto-rotate vids (and Mosquito's specifically), so, now I 'get' the over rev clutch, inertial rotor mass concept and just how much energy gets stored. I'm a strong project starter, but, get easily distracted on long ones, so, I would have to buy used, or, mostly complete (at a steep discount either way!). I thought it was less expensive if you have your PPL (more like an added certification + training + rental)- because that's real money as well. In my research, I noted a 500 TBO, but- unsure of what's involved, or, costs. Fixed wing is an expensive hobby, even after the hump of obtaining your PPL. Buying is whole new world of cash flow, even if you are super careful. Apparently, I'm now both a wimp & to Yankee (cheap) to consider a Mosquito. But, hey- it was a ton of fun learning about it & fun to dream about. I guess I'd like to see an R22, or, a Schweitzer 300 in action- just to get a feel for noise, rotor wash, size in person...
@@Mike-01234 I bet they won't hire you as occasional pilot (so you can pay for it after) just because you have a license (like trucking) unless you build lots of hours with your own helicopter?
From Russia. Этот мужик просто крут. Безопасных полетов
How many of you were cringing when the guy was moving around the helicopter while the blades were spinning?
there was adequate clearance
Yes!
LOL I should have turned the volume down for that
scary 😳
Just incase it wobbles or something then imagine
Great explanation! I love helicopters and look forward to flying some day. I even hope to help in some rescue capacity. I didn't even know these existed!
Very cool to see how this bad boy works! It would be awesome to have some more footage of it in flight.
I felt like Nemo's dad getting instructions from that little baby turtle.... I dont know what he's saying...but the chopper is so darn cute 😍 ☺
*Parabéns! Excelente equipamento, logo comprarei o meu!*
Ué eu não entendi porque que tem a bandeira do Brasil nenhum vídeo gringo ?
I like at 5:28 the pilot just reaches out and grabs his helmet...lol...no biggie...awesome vid
If your tall and forgot stand up straight. Chop chop..

Great video. Thanks

Thanks for sharing this magic Mike!😍👍
I just can imagine waking up and doing my routine and just going for like a 2 hour drive around my city, and going to my friends house.
Me too
Es hermosa esa máquina
I love the look of this little helicopter to me I think it would be the absolute perfect thing for people who own large pieces of property like ranch or even for border security you could put many helicopters of this size in a hanger and they would make up for a large one plus you can have more people in the air and at such a huge less expense of maintaining a large helicopter such as a bell
I always thought it was slightly strange that people duck under the rotors of larger helos but this is one you sure better not forget to.
Nice explanation , thank you very much for your consistaned input. :)
Thanks for uploading this video!!! nice and clear explanation!
hi from Mexico! that mosquito helicopter is something else!
Wow I never knew I needed a single seat helicopter in my life until this moment lol. I know what I’ll be googling later 😆
Vi que tem uma Bandeira brasileira NICE sou apaixonado por este Heli já a muito tempo
I want this for my daily commute to work.
Quando se é determinado, veja o que construiu. Top
That was a cool video! Thanks. That's more complicated than I thought it would be!
I love it. It's glorious.I wish I could afford it and knew how to fly it.
THIS IS MY IMAGINATION WHEN I WAS CHILD IN 2000. THIS ONE AND MINI JET. IN 2018 MY IMAGINATION GOING TO REAL! THANKS

Why cutting the video when the action begins?!?!?!?!?!?

You want be blown away from heli by wind from rotating wings eh? Then be first one which films from outside when heli takes off
Girls 10
because it only flies a distance of 10 yards at 2 yards height
Wow I wasn't expecting it to be a turbine.
My neighbors would never wake up to this while I fly off to work.
The start sequence on turbine engines has vastly improved, he's using old school tech, but hey, that's part of the fun with mini stuff.
Flag of the Brazil! Awesome!
dude, thank you for sharing the video.

Is it more difficult with a woody ?

Getting helicopters started is a lot more complicated than I thought. :-O LOL

Love your stuff, Mojo! Thanks.
Bien expliqué bravo et merci pour tout ces détails
adorei, quero um!
Haha seems complicated but remember your first time getting into a piston and watching the instructor start it or that look when you take a passenger up for the 1st time and go through your start checklist. Its all learnable.
You don't memorize checklists. Unnecessary risk to forget items. Even the most seasoned pilots will read them from a list.

Awesome! Great interview too👍🏻
so this little thing can fly , so impress 💙
Legend has it that he is still switching buttons on and throttling 😂
I would have forgot, needs a saftey. Most dangerous thing I have EVER seen
I like the aircraft, I like the way the owner talks, no hesitation, information flow......I must own one!!
since its a single seater, how do you get validation to fly it? since in my experience, you have to fly with an instructor to be certified on other vehicles.?
the instructor is phenomenal
By time he goes thru the starting procedures, I'm ready for a nap
😴😴😴😂
I was thinking the same thing is so much you have to know but I'm sure it's not impossible to learn
Owsome, bad ass👏

Probably the most efficient way to trim the trees surrounding your launch pad, multiple purpose!

By the time the pilot sat in the cockpit I had already forgotten everything he said......

Cool! That small jet engine is an Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) used to start the hydraulic system in a CH-47 Chinook helicopter. Once the engines of the Chinook are started and running, the APU is turned off.
I loved the Brazilian flag on the helicopter, it was powerful.

Já ia perguntar por quê tem uma bandeira do Brasil logo abaixo do rotor principal...
Mas acabei de ver a resposta kkkkkkk.
What is its cost in Indian currency
Abt 6 to 7 million in Indian rupees
Very nice! Only a few people that actually manufacture it in their shop, with the option of the purchasing customer to build it in their shop! Simple swash-plate mechanism; not the traditional swash-plate under the rotor head, but above it. Ie, pitch mechanism: linkage, control horn, swash-plate is actually located in the bottom of the torque tube where the drive shaft for the main rotor is located. Would love to see a close up of this.
Awesome job!
Where did you get this neat little toy
You should get a couple hours in a helicopter. The R-22 is probably the cheapest aircraft to learn in. Gives you a whole new perspective to aviation. Sort of like beating the air into submission. I have a little over 2000 hours in Huey's and Blackhawks. It is a very versatile aircraft but so expensive to operate.
Very well explained
I need one of these now.

It feels so weird that when I watch any kind of video that involves heights in or on buildings my fear of heights kicks in and freaks me out big time. However I can watch videos about flying all day long and not feel a single ounce of fear.

Excuse my empty pocket, can I know it's cost? Although I know that the cost of owning a license of heli pilot is so faraway from my imagination! But the heart imagines what it wants😄
Make some content on ur channel bro. Seriuosly just short 1min is enough
It’s like renting a chain saw from Home Depot, now that he explained it you can fly it
I wonder why some of the starting controls are on the cyclic? Is that normal for a helicopter? I thought those sorts of controls would be on the main dashboard, and the cyclic buttons might be more useful for controlling other things whilst in flight (ie; instrument readouts etc)
I would be interested if this flies in acro (manuel) mode or if it is auto leveling.

Kkkk
