Hyundai Tucson N Line review: Elite diesel 2022 family test - the right midsize SUV for your family?

  • Is the best option in the 2022 Hyundai Tucson range the one you least expect it to be? That could well be the case, based on family reviewer Emily Agar's latest review.
Emily was driving the Hyundai Tucson Elite, and while there's nothing groundbreaking about that, it's the fact she spent a week in the Elite diesel AWD SUV with the sporty looking N-Line styling pack.
The N Line Tucson package has been hugely popular, and it's easy to see why. You get plenty of extra styling gear, better wheels and in some cases, better lights, too.
And with more diesel availability - there's a shortage of petrol models at the time of publishing - the Elite grade might be the right pick for many people.

    Hi Emily,
How was the piano black trim after your week with the car? Wish they offered an alternative trim, my preference is aluminium look like the Sorento. The Elite spec definitely needs an auto tailgate.

apple car play only works on one of the usb ports on the left. if you have a cover on your phone wireless charging wont work. everything works as it should just gotta work out the setup. i bought the highlander diesel 2 weeks ago great car. very impressed. way better than a RAV, although low 50k for a Hyundai seems expensive, but everything is expensive now.

Viewed one of these at Hyundai Essendon on Friday. Very impressed although I was expecting an automatic tailgate for that price point. Loads of leg room at back compared to my 2020 Tuscon Active. Loads of torque as well.

Lol!!! Wireless charging won’t work…. Proceeded to show an iPhone 5s later on. No wonder nothing would connect 😂😂
You think a car reviewer would check if their phone had wireless charging before saying she couldn’t get it to work

    • @alanbampton2980

I agree. The minimum requirement for a reviewer is to check compatibility for device connection before saying they couldn't use carplay. Otherwise a good review.

    Very average review.
States that ambient lighting and power tailgate functions are missing, but doesn't state that they are available in the next spec up (Highlander).
No mention of the other power trains available. No mention of the N line kit (as opposed to standard features). No mention of the heated seats or digital driver dashboard.
"I couldn't get the wireless charging to work".. is that relevant given that it's likely user error or attributable to a few other variables that weren't investigated. Ditto for Android Auto.

  • @yang1471
    @yang1471 Před 2 lety +1

Although I prefer manually open/close the tailgate (much faster), it still surprises me that a 2022 $50k+ car doesn't have a powered tailgate...

Why talk about CarPlay not working when it sounds like it is possibly user error? Ask Hyundai and they will give you an answer (especially if it's for a review)? Same with the wireless charger, instead of saying it just didn't work, ask Hyundai and they will give you advice. Or if your phone is older, lookup if it even supports wireless charging instead of saying 'maybe it's just old'?? Not a good review.

Thanks for your concern, Jeff - but rest assured, Emily tried multiple phones before making this statement. More likely a problem with this particular car than anything else, but even so, it’s not great for a brand new car to exhibit an issue like this.

@@carsguide Then it should be stated she tried multiple phones. The message given was "maybe my phone is out of date". Either way the huge amount of shiny piano black is such a turn-off I find this car hard to like. It's a bit sad they use these materials in 2022 when we knew the problems of them a decade ago. Also the N-line pack looks nice except they downgrade the seat material, a bit hopeless really.

Hyundai hope you read this you lost a sale recently by me by not making that diesel eng available in the basic N line only in the elite as a way to get buyers to fork out more money on a heap of additional features the average buyer doesn't give a toss about well it failed as my money went with another auto maker .part reason why Toyota has been so successful is that there flagship hybrid is available through out the range..Also Hyundai on your entry power plant the 2.0 na 110kw in a heavy SUV WTF were you thinking

Bit risky to buy diesel , in some european countries it s just banned now due to environmental reason. I'm just going to jump right in. Buying an expensive new diesel is a terrible idea. Right now Australia is hugely lagging behind in EV adoption. The S curve has hit the tipping point in the USA and 90 percent of new cars in Norway this year are EVs. Hold on to your existing until you can go EV. You might think my suggestion is crazy, but remember 2007 when Apple introduced the touch screen smart phone. In 3 years they annihilated the competition. S curve adoption is how fast new technology at the tipping point takes over. Diesel will be dead as far as new car sales in 3-4 years. Mark my words. A few years after that, 2022 diesel vehicles will be in the discount bin for $500.

Not true for Australia. We're a vastly geographically large continent that's currently ill-equipped to support EVs enmass. That won't change within the next 10 years, so internal combustion engines aren't going anywhere. Also, $50k is not a massively expensive vehicle.
