I did this when i turned 16 and my dad and stepmother freaked out. They had me tested for drugs and all kinds of psychiatric visits. I think they were convinced i was a pod person! Truth was, i was just sick of them bitching about how, if i couldn't keep up with my grades, i could at least help out more at home or get a job. So, I actually wound up doing all 3. The job was actually just catching my classmates in their own crap and making them pay me to keep my mouth shut. Grades was actually just turning in homework. (I hated all that busy work when i already knew how to do what they were supposed to be teaching! 99% of it, I had learned years earlier from my mom, grandmother or grandpa! Believe me, my "parental units" never said anything about my grades or helping out at home again! Some of the stuff I did was outright malicious compliance. I made gourmet meals when my stepmother asked me to make dinner a few times. Gourmet courses are smaller because there can be 8 courses or more. She was expecting mac and cheese with burgers and some sort of warmed over, canned veggies. What she got the first time was a perfectly presented meal including multiple appetizers, welsh rarebit, perfectly seared fresh salmon, tomato bisque, a 4 lettuce salad with tomato, green onion, purple carrots, radishes, bleu cheese, fresh basil and oregano, broccoli and chantarelle mushrooms with home made seasoned croutons and red wine vinegarette dressing, fresh french baguette, lemon sorbet as a pallette cleanse between each course, strawberry and starfruit mimosas, and creme Brule for dessert, biscotti and cafe au lait after. As i said, malicious compliance. Up to that point, neither of them had a CLUE that i knew my way around a kitchen at all. After that night, they specified what they wanted me to make for dinner if i was needed. Most of the time. I had been begging to be allowed to cook in that kitchen since i had come to live with them when i was 13. The looks on their faces when they came home to a fully formal place setting on the dining table was priceless!
