I almost cried… I’m a grown ass man with a child of my own. This took me back to the 80’s when all of the elders were still alive and every weekend the entire family got together, drank, played cards, dance, gossip, etc. life was so much fun. This reminds me of my great grandmother. We called her ‘Mamma’. She was 86 when she died in ‘94. She’d get drunk and yell to my cousin, “Baby, put ya grandmother dancin’ songs on!” 😂 😂 😂 she’d jump up, wobble from one side of the room to the other until she got her balance, and she’d stand in the same spot gyrating her hips clapping her hands and stomping her feet lmao 🤣 damn man I’m choking up listening to this!
This cut right here was played in clubs for at least 20 years. It brings back some great memories. That’s all before this young violent generation was born. Music then gave us more good thoughts than bad thoughts!
I wish I grew up in the late 70s, 80s and 90s, because I would've had an excellent time and had all kinds of fun due to the music, movies, fashion, and etc. In contrast to this peculiar era. 70s, 80s, and 90s is the greatest.
No you don't, because you wouldn't have all the things like CZcams that brings you music you otherwise would never have heard. You have abilities and knowledge at your fingertips you never would have decades ago.
On my 1st day at a school of hairdressing in Lagos January1984, (19 years old then)I heard this music being played next door at high volume. I did not know who the artist was then. Finally bought it in audio cassette form.
Folasade I can relate as well when I first heard it I was carried away. It was one of the biggest track in every party. It’s still hot even for oldies night!
Love the 80s version because it was an era where they came out with long electric dance mixes of mainstream songs. Synthesizers were the new fad! Love the sound effects touch!
We used to jam to this (the original 1983 version) in Liberia. We threw a party in the hut in our backyard in Vahun, way upcountry. There were palm fronds put up to enclose our hut like a disco. We had a battery-powered cassette player. Kids were dancing and having fun before we got shut down...for real. Too loud, too late. Of course, it was the teenagers who were really moving and shaking. I wish I could find this download somewhere.
This is the year when one of my daughters was born. I would say that she is the best of 4 girls. She is smart, strong and good at everything that she does. And most importantly she gave me one of my 2 granddaughters who is much smarter than her mom and I LOVE her so much! She the best granddaughter in the world.
Born in the 80s and remembering this song being played off vinyl at family cookouts. And you dare not join the line if you didnt know the steps lol. Gosh couldn’t get those days back even if you tried.
Damn hearing this version finally came back to me. When I was five I definitely remembered the original version before the remake. I remember being at my babysitters place in West Philly hearing this. Then I hear the remake which was good but nothing beats the original.
Heard this today on Sirius XM, just can't beat an Old School toe-tapper. I dedicate this to the Class of 1976, Pirates Rule. Can't wait to get back for the 40th next year! Enjoy ;-).
As big an 80's music fan AND funk music fan as I claim to be, I have to humble myself and admit that I absolutely have never heard this version until tonight!! I saw it when listening to what I thought was the "original" video...this is AMAZING!!! WHAT THE HELL WAS I DOING BACK THEN??? Man, I truly love this and am madly searching for it to download...thanks so much Fabrice for this!!!

Mamma sounds like she was a gas! A but like my great-grandmother (Granny) but she didn't drink. Such simpler times back then. ❤

This is my favorite version! My dad used to play this on his massive stereo system in the basement. 😃
If I had found myself passing in front of your basement, I would have stopped and gone wild.
Love the 80s version because it was an era where they came out with long electric dance mixes of mainstream songs. Synthesizers were the new fad! Love the sound effects touch!
