The gasket is there for a reason. The filter should be hand tight. Maybe a 1/4 turn with filter wrench. I am sure that filter will leak like a tetly tea bag
its correct. thats not actually a seal it’s just a byproduct of the manufacturing process and should be removed before installation. leaving it could cause catastrophic engine failure because the oil has nowhere to leak from. as a result the oil pressure ends up being too high leading to over-lubrication of internal engine components.
This guys knows he shouldn’t remove the gasket. He probably hates the owner of that vehicle. That oil filter housing is going to seize into the engine.
2 things wrong here, never remove gasket and always hand tighten filter.
