In this episode of Setup Saturdays I will be doing a set up on a Schecter Solo Custom 2. I will show you guys how I like to setup my guitars along with how to get super smooth frets.
I bought this with the gold binding and and inlays. For 600$ it was a demo. My only complaint. The gold electrolytes on the electronics are not good. My soap bar where I rest my hand . The gold is wearing off quickly. This guitar is excellent thou. As a guitar player I don’t know what else you need. Great guitar ! Absolutely a great guitar. There are those who complain about the weight. I guess they never played a Gibson. This guitar does what a Gibson won’t do to save money. The pick ups are made in the USA. How they did that at this price is amazing . And tone pros added in . What else do you need ?

I'm considering one with the natural top. The only thing stopping me is that the pasadena pickups seem too hot maybe? I love the guitar but looking for a vintage paf sound. I could change pickups ...but that's extra $$$
Dial back the volume...the tech at schecter(I think his name is jake) is a cool dude. I ordered my hellraiser hybrid pt from the factory. You could maybe ask him if they could exchange the Pasadena's for a pair that's not so hot.
It is a pretty sweet guitar. But if you really wanna get that classic PAF sound, this can get you close but won't be exactly what you want. It will definitely help if you roll back the volume knob. But still might leave you a little disappointed if it's not what you are looking for.
Im watching cuz I love schecter and im bored...looks great tho. Iv came close to pulling the trigger on one of these, but i try tk stay away from 24.75" scale. Im sure it plays quite authentically. Those inlays look gorgeous. Im definitely team schecter, but I just got an ibanez AZ242F and holy friggn moly. My schecter is a hellraiser hybrid pt and i love it, but the ibanez blows it out of the water. I also have a jim root tele (which retails for 100 more) and it blows that out of the water too.
I love mine! I play it the most out of all my guitars. The pickups are a little hot for me, but I just turn down the gain on my amp and it seems to do the trick. I think it would be good for blues, I hope you love it!
@@WorshipSounds7 you shouldn't need to adjust the intonation unless it's out. Raising the saddle is easy. Turn it about a quarter turn at a time. Checking for string choking while doing a pull up / strong bend
Hey, when did you buy that guitar? I am wondering about the colour combination. For the satin black body the bindings are yellow with gold hardware while yours has white bindings and black hardware. A review with an emphasis to the neck profile would be helpful as well btw. Do you have any issues with the nut?
I got this guitar back in November of 2017. I bought it from Musicians Friend as a scratch and dent open box. I can definitely do a review of this guitar and go over all the details if you would like. The nut slots are a little low on the D and G sting causing a little bit of buzz. I have been putting off changing the nut for a while now. Its not bad you can only really hear it acoustically. When you are plugged into an amp its gone.

@@stsdema28 I have never personally played a 60s Les Paul so I wouldn’t be able to tell you how the neck feel compares. But I just took some measurement with my caliper for you. The neck thickness at the 1st fret is 0.795 and 11th fret 0.857 (Thats in inches). I did some research on some forums and it looks like a 60s Les Paul neck thickness at the 1st fret is 0.874 and 11th fret 0.992. The Solo Custom is definitely thinner. If you are trying to get this as a Les Paul alternative there also several other things that are different compared to a Les Paul, but I’m sure you already know that. I hope this helps you. I will check out the video you sent and I will probably do a review of the guitar.
@@WorshipSounds7 Really my fingers don’t notice the difference. And Gibson doesn’t come with locking tuners. Or a nut like this. And the Gidsons in this price range don’t have made in America pick ups. And your concern is is a few thousands of an inch. Play it. What more do you need. High priced guitars are a thing. My favorite guitarist are the ones who guitars are worn from use. Like mine are. And still sound the same .
Hey man I just got a solo ii custom and the guitar did not come set up at all the high e string to high I'm pretty mechanically inclined but usually that comes from watching someone do it on CZcams thus my handyman skills are almost to jedi master except for set up my new girl lol ok thanks man
Stainless steel frets won't pit like that. Regular wire will look like that within 6 months of owning it if you play on it every day. Schecter doesn't put SS on the customs, but they do on the Supremes, but those models are ugly imo. LTD has the EC-1000's with SS frets. No more Fender/Gibson Epi/Schecter until SS is there starting around $800. Not playing with crap fret wire anymore.
You should have taken it to a professional. You missed a bunch of steps. Mainly the fret leveling. And buffing the frets. I use a dremel with buffing compound. And 1500 grit paper. Not steel wool. But what ever works for you.
Thanks for the feedback! I agree, I think a dremel would definitely be better. But I use steel wool because it is pretty effective and cheap. Most people either have some or can pick some of for a couple bucks.

Ibenez play great. But dont sound like a gibson, or a fender. More like steve via. If you can play that way. My first guitar was a road star 2

Stupid question here but after you adjust the saddle you re-tune the string then check intonation right?
Yep, after you adjust it, It will be either sharp or flat. So you definitely wanna retune.

Yes stainless steel at a metal is very hard. Stainless steel frets require more time to work on them as it is harder to remove material.
Stainless steel frets won't pit like that. Regular wire will look like that within 6 months of owning it if you play on it every day. Schecter doesn't put SS on the customs, but they do on the Supremes, but those models are ugly imo. LTD has the EC-1000's with SS frets.
