I'm watching this whilst in the Tauranga Hospital CCU, (NZ) recovering from a heart attack. Another informative video, that really brightened my day.
Prayers for a speedy recovery! 🙏 ~ John in Ohio
Hang in there Peter.
Glad you survived it brother, prayers to you 🙏🏻
The Force be with you.
Feel better!
Even when frustrated at the slow progress you never compromise on your standards. THIS is what separates a true builder from a hack. Way to go, Sarah. I love your videos.
As a people of the world who loves watching car related internet videos, i like your channel 👍
While watching this build progress, I started thinking this car belongs at SEMA. No idea how to get a car in, the cost, etc. but it would sure be great for the channel. The meticulous planning and execution of this build is fascinating to watch but also recognizing the amount of thought and research that had to go into this project is mind boggling. An incredible amount of time and perseverance. I appreciate all that you do to allow us to follow along. Best CZcamsr period.
Dear rogerriggs.
👍👌👏 I totally agree. Unfortunately Sarah already answered a similar comment that the golden Celica will not go to SEMA.
Best regards, luck and health in particular.
I believe you have to be invited to be in the SEMA show, and the car has to be wildly well done to be in a pavilion (you could show outside, but that appears to be akin to the "cheap seats").
SEMA is a circus that doesn't benefit the builders hardly at all. The impact on her channel would be tiny, if anything. This car would get way more appreciation somewhere like JCCS or similar. As someone who has been to SEMA many times, and had a few cars in the show - it isn't worth the effort.
SEMA builds are rolling advertisements for companies products. Has nothing to do with quality at all, most of the builds in there are hacked up rush jobs.
This car deserves an in-depth build series of videos. Oh...wait!
😂❤😊
You were saying about having all the fittings terminate at the same point? Don't. They pile up!
Make 'em all (if possible) staggered, it's SO much easier to put a wrench on them. And the stack ends up skinnier.
Yes they do, been there done that. AN fittings are nice but are pricey for what they are. Yea I'd keep the brake booster just for how this thing should run.
Just a heads up Sarah, when using human torque specs you need to say “click” when optimum torque is reached.
😂😂😂😂
"There's yer problem, lady" Hahaha.
That "test flare" was gold. This is why i love the channel so much the high end mechanical with the Sarah sense of humor was..chefs kiss
Whoo!
It's "flare".
Fixed it
In my work as a vacuum chamber technician I installed miles of copper and stainless steel tubing. Never had a chance to work with CuNi. It looks like it is light years better than either! And I never had a flare tool like Sarah’s either! Just the standard $9.99 from Harbor Freight flare tool. Hughes Aircraft/GM/Boeing (three companies: one office over 20 years) didn’t go in for the best quality tools.
@@paulrapp613 Using a hand-held bender, I found the difficulty of working 1/4" O.D. 70/30 CUNI tubing falls about midway between CU and CRES tubing.
A week long process of work, camera moving, adjustments, and a late cameo Angel assist. All put together to excitedly move closer to the start up goal. Kudos for keeping it together through adversity, and managing a smile. Thank you Sarah!
Been 6 moths since I watched and your videos are SO CLEAN AND FUN. You are a top tier content maker. Be proud girl.
I don’t think there’s any other car channels that go into this level of detail.
Never change Sarah!
There was one, but they are not really putting anything out. Bad Obsession Motorsport, I was following project Binky, but Sarah is better. It’s like someone took BOM and Engineering Explained, combined them into a funny, quirky 5’11” brunette babe.
If you like this level of detail , then I recommend a Canadian channel fanatik build . Putting an equally large engine (LS 4 ) into an equally small car ( Triumph GT 6 ) .
@@anthonycarty9433 - The GT6 is *way* smaller than the Celica. I still can't explain how I managed to fold my 6'2" body into the one I owned.
Having said that, Fanatic Build is an incredible series even if they have, basically, committed English Car Blasphemy by scratch-building an entirely new car under that pretty GT6 shell.
Sara when bending tight corners in copper brake and clutch line slip some weed trimmer line inside so you dont gotta worry bout it crimping the line! Works great!
I hope you get this car to shows, autocross, drag racing, power tour, etc. When you are done with this project, you need to take some time to enjoy your work. I would make for some great content, and, I hope you get an article in Hot Rod, because you surely deserve it.
Hands down the best build on CZcams right now. The attention to detail and the comedy are gold.
Has a flair of BOM / Binky but this car should be done in less than 12 years.
Love these videos and how granular you get with all the details.
You have so much awe in your awesome without being awful. Thank you Sarah for taking the long way around and showing the right way, you rock girl.
I know sometimes your projects seem to get way out of control but thats you and we appreciate all your hard work and crazy work ethic Sarah!
Literally can't think of anything hotter than Sarah in a pantera shirt. Dear lord why am I not closer?! P.S. you are awesome Sarah! I have been watching your videos for several years now and am glad to see youre not selling out.
Wow now it all makes sense why you're so freaken bad ass,! I didn't know you were a Vet Sarah, I'm also a Vet myself. Mad respect TY for your service Sarah-n- Tuned! 🛩
As a Canadian Aircraft Maintenance Engineer currently on strike, i do indeed find the line running and such satisfying
In her “spare?” time
Hi Sarah love watching your videos. Suffering from mental health issues your videos really brighten my day. Keep up the great work.
I must say, I've never seen anyone use a bench grinder on wood before. 😯 It looks like it worked great. From one AF vet to another, I really enjoy your channel.
I think the only thing that will survive the apocalypse is that Celica. I love that car
With how much performance it's going to have thanks to the low mass and big engine, it'll out run the apocalypse.
Great job Sarah. Don't forget to breath. You are a very talented woman.
I hate to admit it but I got a little lost with the clutch/bell housing details, which only adds to my admiration for your technical expertise. 😱 Those shape transfer tools are an awesome invention, right? Great to see Angel make a cameo. Thank you, Sarah. 👍👍👍
As a licensed A&P I approve of this video, Sarah and her channel.....
I owe you an apology… I should be on the street screaming about your CZcams channel with a sign… yet I selfishly only tell people that should be interested based on their interests in excellence or real interests in cars. Yes, in that order. Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you ever day of your Celica build. Love it.
😮 The two hard plumbed lines for your throw-out bearing 🏁 are the work of a highly skilled aircraft technician 💪
I like your humour, you make my day better. Thanks.
HAH! Nerdy girl did Ugga Dugga at 10:16!! Nice!!
When I worked AGE I liked doing hard lines but loved safety wiring. Kind of its own art form. Another great vid Sarah!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
When your chewing on life's gristle, don't be sad, give a little whistle! and always look on the bright side of life :))
Love the tiny little brake booster and the fact you can finally see light at the end of the tunnel.
Fraggle rock ferrets
OK, when you start walking backwards and talking to your hand then it's time for a break, it's amazing how you have each step planned out in your head, whenever I do that all I get is headaches!
It's true, mic socks smell like winter exactly one week after summer solstice. No one knows why.
Love that shot of Dos and the Bronco, together.
🤣👍
Wow! I was a bit skeptical when you said you wanted to put that pickup truck motor in that classic Celica.
Yeah, I understood your reasoning and I thought it was a great idea, but I really wasn't sure it was even possible.
This has become a REAL project and it's really looking like it's gonna happen!
Perfectionism? It's the only way to do ANY of this.
If it was stock parts on a completely stock car you could get away with playing fast and loose with some things.
But the whole idea of this project is completely off the wall so everything HAS to be just right if it's really gonna work.
Go! Go! Go! I don't think anyone but you could pull this off, and it's a delight watching you do it.
Wow you’re so close to getting that little beast fired up. It’s going to sound sweet and mean all at the same time. The test drive video will be epic. Can’t wait to see your reaction and expressions as you share them with us.
I am excited for you Sarah 👏🇺🇸
Cool things happen when you find your Ikigai in resurrecting cars. It’s special that we get to see not just the results but the hard work and planning that goes into each detail.
Thank goodness you have an Angel to help keep you sane. Another amazing video of determination to get the job done.
DIY tip for copper brake lines, drill a 1 inch hole in a bit of 4 x 2 wood and clamp the wood in a vice. Then you can just pull the copper through the hole in the wood.
👏👏👏👏👏 awesome progress Sarah 👏👏👏👏... Your doing stuff that isnt easy so give yourself a break 👍🥰
I'm sorry you had struggles 😔 you do such impeccable work, I hate to see you run into problems
This is actually getting pretty exciting. Getting so close, can't wait till the next episodes, really looking forward to the end result. Take as much time as you need, love the detail
Sarah, I suggest you reconsider that brake master cylinder mount, it should be offset away from the engine for spark plug access and hopefully to prevent the master cylinder and booster from getting too hot from engine/exhaust heat. That vacuum booster may also be a bad idea with your "cammed" engine, you may not have enough manifold vacuum for the booster to be effective.
I enjoy all of the builds, even the wiring ! I would also be neurotic about keeping it original, and keeping it clean, so much respect for that. When I was a kid, my father's friend had this exact car, same color, same interior, same model. Riding in the back seat even as a 12 year old in 1974 was not fun though!
Never give up ! Keep fighting and it will become a masterpiece !
Awesome work, Sarah. Thank you for the dedication, and going so deep down the rabbithole on this restoration.
I have the deepest respect for you doing that crazy project on your own... Kudos!!!
Awesome video. It's so much fun to watch the way you work through the problems you run into.
Stay Sarah!
I'm really appreciating these videos Sarah, you're doing a great job. I honestly think you should write a book on this build when it's complete. Thanks for your service in the Air Force ! 🇺🇲
Really admire your work on this project. Been basically weeks of custom fab work by yourself in every aspect of the car. Amazing project and great video. TY.
I love your dedication to perfectionism. Hope it all adds up to perfect for you. You’re getting there Sarah 👍🏻
Your termination for perfection is spot on the workmanship you give us in your car videos.
It is awesome to see your work to make the manual transmission work. Most people would have probably given up and went with an automatic.
Just gotta say, I LOVE this project, you're amazing and thank you for your service!
Long have i wondered if these builds djent. Now I am relieved knowing that they infact do. Thank you Sarah!
Pantera shirt AND Meshuggah references?!?! Most excellent 👌🏼
We use that brake line in the shop all of the time. Ram trucks were notorious for that long line running to the back rusting out. I would have customers calling all the time wanting the OEM line. I tell them to save time and money by getting that stuff. Our techs like it because it so easy to use and they knock out that repair in no time.
Thanks! Seriously nice work
Another great detailed video, it's like being with you as you figure it all out... Love it!
TRUST THE PROCESS! (Sarah -n- Saban) Using the Process! Yessir!
I've said this before Sarah, but it's worth saying again: your work ethic and attention to detail are astounding. I share your attention to detail, but didn't get your work ethic. Keep up the amazing work!
Obsessing over those clutch lines is so You but we appreciate it! ❤️ Fellow obsessivator - I made a Sarahism 😄
Meshuggah reference? Yes, please!
Multiple Meshuggah references? MOAR, PLEASE!
Liking the video for the Ric Flair inserts when discussing flaring. Woooo!
Brakes with no booster just means more time getting the size of the pistons right to ensure the pedal can be pressed with reasonable force, along with having a lot more feedback in to the toes when using them.
If you really need to, there's Remote Boosters, it's more hydraulic line plumbing, but you can shift the booster around to an easier to fit location.
I love it when it goes in the hole perfectly!
I love working with cupro-nickel. It flares easy, bends easier, and is impressively corrosion resistant. I use nothing else for brake and transmission cooler lines.
For fuel lines, nylon-2 works wonders. FMSI sells everything fuel related - nylon line, adapters, quick connects, etc. It's a fraction of the cost of AN fittings, easier to fashion compared to metal lines, and tolerates vibration better.
Great tip being demonstrated on which lines to use.
I love this series. Cool to see how complete of a job you're doing. I can't wait to see this thing in action.
This is going to be a awesome build when you finally get done! A very rare car indeed!
Watching you do this melts my brain! Only be worse if I was doing it!
You can grind down that fitting on a belt sander and clean up the end, I use a convolute deburring wheel on a bench grinder to fix damaged thread ends all the time at my machine shop.
Those Banjo Minnow bolts come with a wall mountable singing fish. Awesome party novelty. 😁
I am continuously impressed with your abilities. I love the way this build is coming together. ❤
You literally go through all the trials many of us have and ultimately come up with roughly the same conclusions and outcomes. This is hard for all of us but we learn that is is not just us. My AN fitting stash is huge and painful too. Lately, I am using more nylon line with quick disconnects like GM factory. They're cheap and I have not had leaks. I run them in thermal sleeving for protection it is cheaper only works well on some cars. Your wiring (as almost all of you work) is much better than almost everybody else. Thank for staying with it.
I hope to see this car at TucsonClassicsCarShow this October (Gregory School on Craycroft south of Rillito). Great Video!
I don’t have time for car shows unfortunately
@@SarahnTuned Sorry to hear that, but I understand
Good hell knowing on this fine Sunday morning to you Sarah. Starting to get used to you getting crazy with the cheese wiz.
This build and MUSTIE 1 our fave eps amyday
There's a thought, Sarah covered in cheese whiz. Tasty.😂😂
absolutely cant wait to see this go. What a build.
Hey Sarah, I don't know if it has been suggested, but an idea about the Vacuum booster is to relocate it to in front of the strut tower. BMW did it on the e34 or e39 (late 80's/late 90's 5 series) Chassis that had the V8. It was a pretty neat setup and you might be able to do the same thing. Take a look, might clear your mind about the booster.
Hi Sarah, Harry here from Toronto - Gosh I enjoy your projects. You're wonderful and inspiring. I love every feed, and particularly enjoy your determination to not "half ass" any aspect of your work. Great journey to join you on!
When you mentioned fraggle rock I had a wicked flash back of watching that on Saturday mornings. Lol
Sarah, having been in the same situation, I feel your pain when you need that 3rd or 4th hand. Awesome job, LIVE this build!
Great video as always and your attention to detail is second to none🙂👍
Sarah, I too am a former aviation maintainer (Air Force) and I totally agree with you about doing things like this for the satisfaction of it haha
I am so happy that the "uga dugga" was a success! ;)
Watching this enjoyably and hoping the best for you Sarah 💜
Damn it, Sarah, it WAS a map to fraggle rock! I tripped over a Doozer as well!
Like this episode…. You really bring the truth about what it takes to engineer and fabricate a Hot Rod….very cool person you are…. Learning so much from you…..please don’t give up….looking forward to the next five days of work…..thank you for sharing your knowledge…have a wonderful day
You are an artist. Your work is awesome.
You are in to tube bending like I was into safety wire. Thing with safety wire is, once you get into it, EVERYTHING needs safety wired. 🙂 Do keep up your detailed and on-point efforts Saray.
Your attention to detail was commendable, until the last letter 😞.
@@Graham_Wideman Fat fingered response; probably reached pinky over to the enter key whilst going for the H 🙂 Now where's my safety wire pliers? 🙂
I am in awe of the English gymnastics that got you to the ‘par for the course’ bit. Bravo.
Thanks for all you do Sarah. You’re an inspiration.
It is coming together nicely and you WILL make it work.
Awesome lady and channel!!! 😃
Sharp individual! I wish I had half of those skills. Can’t wait to hear it run!
Your labored analogies are brilliant!
You put Rick Flare, in it ! LOL Nice touch.
Lots of progress there ..Hats off for ur passion and hard work.... awaiting next update on project.... Keep it up ...❤😊
Having fabricated a few er "custom parts" on my own airplane, I can tell you that AN equivalent fittings can be had for much cheaper from your local hydraulics shoppe. These are called JIC fittings and come with the same 37 deg seat angle the AN's. The only difference is they are made from steel which is super handy when you want something custom without having 19 fittings screwed together.. You just lop the ends off that you want and weld them back together..:). You should have seen my custom fuel system!
Awesome progress, love the video Sarah 😁👍
The project is moving along nicely....great content and thanks...🔧🔧👍
