  • This is a 2000 Honda Accord 2.3 Vtech that cranks, doesn't start and has no communication. It has over 230k miles on it. Check the main power relay before chasing powers & grounds for hours. Also shown are the ECU pinout guide and the diagram for the main power relay.

    Great post. I've been chasing an intermittent no start for about a year.
    It had finally gotten frequent enough that I had to seriously look into the problem.
    The no communication was the key,

      Thanks. I wish I would have thought through the video part of this fix and got the actual start on film and closed out the video better. This car is started in a later video on ac pro. Power issues can take a while because you have to know if you're looking at the cause or effect of the issue! Cheers

    Very informative on the ECU pinouts. What model of the ODB scanner are you using?

    • @brickautollc
      @brickautollc  Před 7 lety +1

      It's a Snap-On Verus. One of the earlier models that can be found at a more reasonable price on ebay or alike. It may not be the most advantageous way to get this info if you aren't a regular user. They are real spendy $$$, even used. If pausing this video isn't quite enough to get a decent read, email me at brendan@brickautollc.com and I will see about getting a screen shot of them for you.

    Hi I have an accord same to that, I have the same problem does not show check also the green key, I change the main relay but everything is still the same I was told that the computer is not. A friend told me that it is a fuse but I do not know which, I do not know where it is located.

      If there is no check engnie light KOEO, there is definitely a communication issue and that's where I would start - tracking that down. If the main relay in the dash is good, I would start chasing the powers and grounds for the computer. Check the interior fuse panel and the under hood block fuses and relays (check them all, it is easy enough to do to start). If these are all good, I would go straight to the computer and check the powers and grounds there (see end of this video for PIN-OUT of this). If located, will have to then back track the wire to find the short. That's the direction I'd go if no CEL. Good Luck!

      Your friend was right. Is in the engine comp. Top left, by the elect lead, look for IG. Or something Loki that I forgot now the number so check all and u be good. Unless it got hot that means dist. With regulator is fried. Don't even mess with the crank sensor, no only is a little pain to get replace. But it will not be the one . Of course you are using the right key we hope, no spark symptoms when using wrong key.

      It took a bit to get there but the end result was good (just a relay)...all things considered. I wish I would have taken a shot of it starting to end it - but it runs great, now about 233k miles

  • @winstonleighton1358
    @winstonleighton1358 Před 5 lety

    Had it been the main relay defective the car would not have cranked. You would not get any power with a bad main relay.
