    Hi there! I also have a 2001 Honda Accord Coupe V6 and my problem was my green key light would come on while I was driving, and my car would die. It was getting worse and worse to where it happened 5 times in one day no matter where I was. Then I had to wait to start it again because when I tried, my green key light would not come on just like in your video. Was told by several mechanics that it was my fuel pump or a faulty key or faulty ignition, but I knew better. i've been searching this problem for weeks and prayed for God for Wisdom and to llead me to someone who knows what is going on. Then I found your video and it was almost exactly what my problem was. I changed out mine just like you did and drove it all day yesterday, and didn't have any problems. The amazing thing is that just like me, you are not a mechanic! Thank God I found your video. Well done!!

      Ha that's awesome! So glad this was helpful! I was told the exact same issues and my car would also die with the green light coming on would spook me sometimes especially when it would die on the freeway with nowhere to pull off!
      Also just want to say since replacing this approx. 6 months ago the issue has not come back :) best part was it was free to see if replacing part would resolve issue thanks to autozone

      @@kahn9950 Oh okay. I wasn't sure your card died like mine did because you didn't mention it, but when you said the green key light wouldn't come on I knew I was on to something! I've been driving it steady since I put it in yesterday and have had no issues since!! These auto shops would of charged hundreds of dollars and Honda more than a grand and I bet they wouldn't have figured it out!! Thanks again!!

    Amit is also correct if you can’t afford $60 at this time. I just tap lightly on the underside of my steering box cover, and the green key appears. This has worked well now for a few weeks while I search for answer to problem with my work truck. It also has began happening less often than before. Good luck.

    Thank you so much for this information. I have been experiencing this issue for the last year and my mechanic request that I replace the fuse box that would have cost me over $1K or it was the crank shaft sensor that is all over $500.00 to replace. So many examples but not the issue and you have me the answer. I will go and have this replaced today.

    Mine has been doing this for awhile now and I took the ignition assembly out and missed and bumped the little circuit board that's around the key against the metal and burnt the dang circuit. I wish I had seen your video before I tore into my ignition because I think the relay is bad. Now I'll probably have to buy another assembly unless I can figure out how to eliminate the key altogether and just put a switch in it's place.

    Hello, where is the obd port of this car?

    • @kahn9950
      @kahn9950  Před rokem +2

      Yes ! For the 2001 accord 4 cyl. The OBD is located DIRECTLY above the hood release lever. I'm unsure how to send a photo on here. I have seen some older models where its actually behind the shifter so you must turn the key to pos. 2 & pull the shifter all the way back & it will be behind an ashtray. I have also seen on a different year the OBD being located behind a patch of carpet on the passenger side. For the 2001 it's %100 above the latch release though!

      hmmm first I just want to say If I remember correctly I had the issue both ways also would cut off while driving or not start at all. If you have already replaced the relay I cannot recommend anything else since I am defiantly not a mechanic BUT I can say some things a few different mechanics told me may be suspect would be immobilizer unit, faulty wiring, need new key etc.. Best of luck hope you get it working :) Also check all fuses

You can go to autozone and install the part in the parking lot to see if it fixes your issue, if not, you can return the part right then and there for free. Be sure to ask your local part store to confirm but yes, its free to try
