Definitely a valid competitor in the realm of the Mavic Pro. Hoping for a few software updates soon to help make the choice between the two even harder.
More flight tests, range tests, tracking tests and more coming up! Please subscribe so you don't miss them.

Your Video's of the Autel EVO is MAGNIFICENT!
Thanks for another Great vid on the Evo Dustin😃 now just waiting on the range test mountain vid!😎👍
yep that cool range test
Great comprehensive review as always! Thanks!
Great video. Now we await the range test!
Dustin - Excellent video and testing.
Bonjour, love watching your vidéos, love what you do and mostly the pictures and the sites with the Parrot Disco. Thanks a lots, keep up the great work
Thank you so much, great video. Very helpful. We just bought an Exo. This really helps.
EVO
I am digging that camera.
Hi Justin. I just ordered an Autel Evo to my Drone fleet, can't wait to try it out. I live in New England, flying season will be ramping up soon.
nice job Dustin
Best reviewer on youtube
I'm flattered. Thank you 😂🤗
Very nice review
Range test is next. Your videos are always great. Thanks for the info. I am waiting to see if DJI will respond or pull an apple and make a drone that is only slightly better than the air. Mavic 2 and make a new pro later.
Just got mine last night! I'm so stoked I even flew it in the office this morning (which was a dumb idea since I've never flown a drone before), didn't crash though! That thing is like a tripod in the air.
Hi mate looking at getting a drone for trips and holidays for photos. Just run across your website. Fantastic reviews. Lots of information helps me understand how it all works. Keep up the great work mate Terry in Australia
I just picked one up and love it. This drone is gonna be a nightmare for DJI.
Great set of reviews there :) I like the camera on this more than the Mavic 2 Pro. Badly wish we could get them in the UK...
Another very good review Dustin, maybe if you had your landing pad it might have been a little more precise but for me that is close enough just as long as it came back home.
I'll bring the landing pad in a future flight to test 👍
Congrats with the 84k bro!
I’ve seen some really good examples of pinpoint landing with the Evo, I would advise using a different surface or a landing pad if you want to test the landing accuracy.
Your right. Just did an evening range test with landing pad and it was on point 👍
i love this drone
I’m starting to like this evo
Dustin, word is if you point the antennas downward, range is optimized- try it and let us know!
Oooo ya I want to fly the autel so bad. It looks like an amazing aircraft.your truly blessed and gifted.keep up the amazing work.
Nice videos both have good info. Read through the manual for the app, you can set waypoints by touching google map or by drawing a path on the map by going to settings and Expert Mode. It also lets you set some defined settings for the waypoint flight. In Orbit it looked like it was smother after you paused and restarted but didn't stay on Orbit long enough to be sure. Thanks
I did try map waypoints first but was unable to get into the mode while drone was connected. I did try afterwards and it seemed to work offline. Something Autel should work out.
Having to fly the waypoints first helped me make up my mind...... to get the Fimi X8 SE 2020 instead. Great video, as always
Because Dustin isn’t aware that you can create a waypoint mission in your house the go out and press start
There’s a video out by captain drown in the hotel Evo. Using weigh points and he does not quiet and make the way points like that he does it on Google Maps and then goes to the location and it flies to each waypoint
Looks awesome! 😊
I saw the extra batteries for the EVO on autels website!
extra batteries are now available on the website. And ND filters
When will u do a review of the parrot anafi. Great review as always
Great job Dustin,🍻😉👍
Great demonstration once again. It has a lot of very nice features as you showed. Looking forward to more of your videos. Used your link and ordered a couple of dji sun shades one for mavic pro and the other for my phantom 4. Happy Flying
Price is high but nice looking drone thanks brother.
best saturday night last night now best ever Sunday night for part 2 of this .. lets go !!!
Very interesting Dustin cheers man , looking forward to range testing
Looks great Dustin 🖒
Love these long review/test videos!
*totally off-topic; A 1.4 million dollar skatepark...omg, wish we had been so lucky when we were young.
Wouldn't it be great if they'd spend that kind of money on a FPV playground...
Wow this is one really cool drone!! I can not wait to own a really nice camera drone like this one!!! I really do enjoy all your drone review's!!!! And great flying!!! Looking forward to your next post! This is a really cool drone!!
DRONE review man of all drones
Parrot Inc. & Autel Robotics are where it's at, fuck DJI.
You need to use precision mode for orbit to get that smooth dji feeling
I just ordered an Evo, can’t wait to start flying.
Another great video!! Thanks!
App and FW updates have fixed the camera in orbit mode, and you can do offline waypoints. Still would like to see POI within waypoints.
Best drone with amazing waypoint function is the ANAFI. They did a good job on that app. Autel says it is giving it's SDK to third parties (I assume Litchi) for developments. I'd still prefer Autel do their own. You need more videos to show off the 4K 60FPS. Then people can really see how good this camera is. The OA is what is it, and for some that is important. To me, when I buy a camera drone, OA is not as big a deal, in fact I disable them on most drones to conserve battery for flights. Even MA, M2P and others with OA on have crashed, so there's that too.
Thanks, for the great review Dustin! Bought this Evo, just wish the zoom meet my expectations a little better. Oh and I really dislike the buttons on the bottom of the controller. Can’t wait till they make a “delete” or something option. The camera options are nicer I feel.
sounds like you are disappointed.
Yeah the zoom and the wheel, I wish could be mated together, more permanently. I really think it could be more fun, without the couple of little quirks. I do have calls in to Autel about my concerns. They have also heard from others and the engineers are working on things like programming the bottom buttons. Not disappointed, side note, I own the M2Z and love. Used to have the the Mavic Air, and this is way batter in my opinion.
Thanks for all your videos.
What about orbit mode with a moving object?
Yes the camera looks really good. Great clear picture even at fast movements. (Y)
shooting 60 fps will smooth out jerkyness. It was shooting at 30 in a wind of 20mph. Geeeze. But of course the Mavic could have handled it.
Justin, thanks! My next quad. Why? Just as good as the Mavic to include M2P & M2Z. Why? Because NO NFZ/GEO Fencing!
K Arthur , I own the M2Z as well and the zoom features are not even in the same ballpark. Majors vs. Tee-ball.
Urban X You like the Autel Evo better than the Mavic 2 Zoom?
Another great review of functions. Wish it didn't get prop in camera shot, a little annoying you have to change your angel to "fix it". Hope you remember landing pad next time to see if that helps it find its home point better. Believe Mavic still did better RTH but no one is perfect - for the price you want it to be though :). Keep up the awesome work!
Ken Appleby if you zoom in 2x that will remove the props with no loss of quality well thats what i do with my xiro xplorer and its fine
This zoom option.......wowwowwow! Like the evo so far. If it doesn't come to europe i will move to the US lol
Can you do an active track obstacle avoidance test to see how the aircraft go around obstacle while folowing you.
Great idea. I will try 👍
I prefer the zoom on anafi. Its smooth and you control the speed as well
True. The EVO does zoom much further though. Just flight tested the Anafi at park yesterday prepping for review 👍
They Waypoints work similar to DJI, where you have to fly the wait point mission first and record it. Maybe they will make Litchi for the EVO, where you can use Google maps to set your waypoint missions. At least they include the VR function in the app, which DJI doesn’t. Good review Dustin.
You can do map waypoints but need to do your first one when drone is off. I missed it here because I was trying to while it was on 👍
That's good to know, I never really liked the idea of flying your waypoint manually the first time to lock it in.
unless they release an SDK, which never happened on the other drone, no litchi for this drone. Or any other third party app
@@lindisopaj Autel said they are releasing to third party app creators. I assume Litchi, though I prefer they redo their own. If they make the waypoint feature as good as ANAFI, that would bring a lot of pro fliers their way. ANAFI has a really nice waypoint design.
great video dustin, that skatepark look very nice, forgive me if you have already metioned it but what megapixel is the camera. i enjoyed this video and i look forward to the next one, as always its a thumbs up from me
12.1 MP
Just a little note (correct me if I am wrong). I notice during orbit, by the end it was way off to the left.
Also I saw the propellers during your first flight test as well.
I wish to see what happens when dinner loses communication with the controller.
It did seem off. It should initiate RTH with controller loss. We'll test that soon on range test 👍
maybe that happens when you raise the gimble and increase the speed.
Nice video. Gonna be a busy area when that skate park is done. 👍👍
IF YOU ARE PHYSICALLY TOO CLOSE TO ITS HOME LOCATION I BELIEVE THEY PUT A SAFE DISTANCE BETWEEN YOU AND THE EVO AS IT IS HOME LANDING. TRY FLYING IT FROM ITS HOME POINT AND YOU MOVE 25 FEET AWAY FROM THE HOME POINT AND SEE IF IT RETURNS MORE ACCURATELY TO HOME. I AM LOOKING VERY MUCH TO RECEIVING MY EVO. BY THE WAY DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING ABOUT HOW TO TEACH AND PRESENT YOUR VIDEOS, THEY ARE VERY ENJOYABLE. THANKS DUSTIN, I APPRECIATE WHAT YOU DO.
Sounds possible. I'll try it in a future flight 👍
Really really wanting to see a range test. Nobody has one up yet that's any good. One of the other channels was doing a range test and said it's really important to point the antennas down not up. Would be Interested if this is true
I saw a post where it went out 4.1 miles and didn't make it back to launch.
Great review. Has the horizon on the camera been fixed?
Seems like it👍
The camera looks great, but very poor at Orbit and speed, as it seems fixed. On DJI drones the speed can be adjusted during the function you select.
In 20 mph wind and 30fps. Comeon.
Did Autel end up fixing the stuttered orbit mode?
Yep probably saw umpteen yellow bits of grass and just pict any bit ?
Range test!
Plz do the range test
We wanna see does it actually move 7km away
Soon 😊
Great! Thank you for sharing. 👍 ✌
When is the range test of the Autel Evo coming? Ignore the return to home prompts :p
The Evo is definitely growing on me. Now I don’t know to get it or wait until the new DJI comes out. It may be a toss up.
The link that you provided for the Sun shade doesn't link up to a sunshade. Could you provide a different link?
it is weather cautious, it saying the it detects that the weather is somewhat bad so the machine itself is being cautious of the weather.
Opinions needed should I get autel Evo or the mavic air, I currently have a phantom 3 standard
Hi Dustin
Have you any advice for beginner I like to buy the drone reeds have a kind of reasonable price are on maximum $200 what do you think was the best if I like to buy thanks a million regards Charlie
Is there a zoom button on the controller and can you play back the video and watch it on your phone like the mavic pro
I'm pretty sure they can smooth out the orbit and they should if they want to compete
The waypoint system I suspect was set up to satisfy someone who wants to film 'cinematic' videos rather than set waypoints for exploration/survey type flights. If I have to spend time flying the route to set up waypoints I'd rather fly and film the track manually. (It may suit others though).
I'm less keen on this quad as a result.
That's a pity because the camera is really good.
The zoom will definitely start the "privacy" campaigners frothing at the mouth but that is, in itself, not a bad thing :D
Soryy, I forgot
Another informative and interesting video
didactylos4 diddy4 waypoints can be programmed offline before flight, no need to fly waypoints first.
Wish they would let you do it while it's connected. First I've seen where you can't plan map waypoints while connected.
Sunshade covering the antennas, doesn't interfere with signal strength??
Man, this bird looks good. Now that the Mavic 2 Pro is out, can you say that the Mavic is really worth nearly TWICE the price of the EVO?
I want to say they are a little expensive but yes they do the best job when it comes to size, features, battery life and the ability to stay ahead of the competition.
What video editing software or app do you use to combine and make one complete full seamless video?
Range test please 😃
Thanks for the video. Are You Still rocking this bird in the batteries holding up I hear bad things about the batteries?
I did a 6months after review and batteries seemed fine. Perhaps a production run were bad
Dustin you are the best on the drone question I am Brazilian I do not know how to speak English but anyway I am subscribed to your channel and I see all your videos you are to be congratulated
Looking like a good drone
i like it, but the mavic pro was released 2 YEARS AGO!! and i still think is better and it definitly has better image quality
better than 4K at 60fps?
to my opinion i think the mavic has better colors
so yes
does the tracking mode have different modes as it was set at follow but looked like it could be changed
Yes, see part 1
Hi Dustin, I'm thinking of purchasing the Evo but wanted to ask you a couple questions plz? 1st, do you have to have a activated phone or tablet when using this or can you use one without being activated? I ask because I hv a tablet that I'd like to use but its Wifi only. My phones kinda small. Second can you use the controller screen for the map or FPV so hv your phone with the camera view and the controller with the map etc? Thank you and thx for the review of the EVO it looks pretty awesome...
As long as the device can run the app wifi only is fine. Haven't tried the second question sorry.
@@DustinDunnill Hi Dustin, Thanks for answering the question! I bought my Evo the other day and absolutely Love it! I wanted to ask what app you use to record what is on your phone? I'd like to record both what the drone sees and what's on the app like you are in your videos. Btw you never mentioned how quiet this drone is! Wow, it's like stealthy as heck especially once it gets to altitude! Thanks again and please stay safe with all this Covid stuff going on. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers! Eric
I use AZ screen recorder. Congrats and have fun Eric. Stay safe as well 👍
YOUR LINK TO THE SUN SHADE ISN'T FOR THE SUN SHADE, IT'S FOR A DJI DRONE.
Still on the fence on which drone next to buy! Air or Evo!
I’m getting more interested in camera shots and quality with drones,
Best wait for another review from Dustin I guess.
Then I will ask the question again.
Great review Dustin👍
receive my Evo, but can't find anything to program the A & B buttons,
I put a call in to Autel, they are working on programming the bottom buttons. I asked them to have a option for them to be useless, because I keep hitting them, lol.
Pretty nifty little drone. Nice to see a company keeping DJI on their toes slightly.
I have deleted all others and going to put my faith in you, should I wait a little longer for corrections or just go get it?
I am hoping the fix 2 main things... The orbit mode jerkyness and enable rear obstacle avoidance in regular mode. Otherwise excellent 👍
dustin, love your channel, now that evo been around abit, has the updates allowed you to have fpv on controller while cell phone attached? i'm looking for new drone, and one items i want is able have fpv and map at same time.
I did a recent follow up review "after 6 months" but didn't see the option.
@@DustinDunnill multi monitor is something i'd like, if live deck is out or we know details by march, evo might be my top end for a new drone, i know live deck outputs 1080p hdmi, but if it can output 720p hdmi, then i can run fpv on a vuefine, with maps on phone and avionics on controler.
Wow. Pretty impressive quad. Now if they could fix the few issues Dustin has pointed out (namely the rear sensors in non-beginner mode) I will heavily lean toward them when the time comes to replace my Mavic air. It's about time someone gives DJI come competition. I thought maybe Hubsan was for awhile but I haven't heard anything out of them for awhile now.
They do have extra batteries available despite the website still saying they're "coming soon", click on that image and you'll find it; however, they recently sold out.
is it just me or does it look like the camera is not fully down, 90 degrees?
I ordered anafi it’s cheapr
Hi Dustin, is there a height limitation for flying the Eco? Does it block from flying above 400' AGL?
Nice vide, thank you!!
I think it's around 800 meters
@@DustinDunnill Wow, 800 meters in altitude? That's high!
Exactly where could I get that sunshade?
Did I link it on description? DJI MAVIC shade
dustin, I have a mavic pro and want a evo but waited to see if it was going to be good or plaque with trouble, could you help me on what you know so far. I will not hold nothing against you. I believe you will give me a honest answer,,Rick Miller
Hey Richard. I was hoping the video would show you how it performs 😁
Nice
Dustin, I got the EVO last week. On Friday I picked up an XSP for a really good price. After using the EVO APP and then the XSP APP it really seems as though they might have tried to reinvent the wheel in some regards. Why couldnt they simply use the XSP app and all of its features plus the new ones for the EVO? Like the waypoints etc. And as always an awesome review. Been waiting for yours. Thanks again.
You can use the app and setup waypoints offline. You missed that part.
You sure about that?
I've done it several times. I have been testing the Evo for 2 weeks so I am positive.
Guess they need to work on finding that option. Just opened Autel Explorer app on my android phone and waypoint option is no where to be found.
Are you using Apple or Android?
Lol...did you read my last comment at all?
If you do a range test point your antenae down instead of up.i easily got out to 3.5 miles with antenae pointed down.pointed up I got weak signal warnings.i could of easily flown further but was worried about battery getting back.good luck keep up the great work
Thanks Jeff. What speed settong you think is most efficient 22mph?
35mph turn off obstacle avoidance which in doing so is like sport mode on dji
I may play it safe at 22mph setting with sensors off. If I remember correctly RTH is that speed also.
aswome videos
