    Thanks for watching! What do you think of all of these isopods? Next video will discuss how we profit from all these bugs!

      Have your isopods colonies grown more? Are you also planning to sell them online?

    The difference is that the orange scabers are a species of Porcellio which are isopods that don't roll up. The clowns are a species of Armadillidium which do roll.

    Thanks for sharing these! I have personally never heard of using a false bottom for isopods bc I dont think they get super saturated but if it works it works! Everyone is different. I have found that my isopods prefer cork pieces that are more concaved rather than flat on the substrate. I think that like to be off of the substrate a bit but still super close to it. I also place a piece or pieces to stretch across the entire length of the enclosure or bin so they can have that perfect area they want inside the enclosure but under their favorite type of hide. I do also dampen the enclosure a bit ( how much depends on the species) and have moss on one end and make that the super high moisture area ( agian based on the species). One thing I wish I did differently at first was start with a bit of a smaller enclosure so they would breed more quickly but hey, we learn from our experiences. I also give them calcium ( finely crushed eggshells( Isave my egg shells and the boil them, let them dry all the way and smash the crap out of them and keep them in a baggie or a bottle that way you have a ton and don't need to process eggshells all the time bc it's a bit time consuming)) I also, give them some fresh veggies ans fruit, but have to remove it a day or so layer if not eaten oh and reptile shed is something they love! I do also put a piece of panty hose or you can use shafon over the ventilation holes( really anything with super super tiny holes so fungus gnats cant get in and create an annoyance to you and so difficult to get rid of) But if you do happen to get gnats there is this product that you can use thats called *mosquito bits* its safe for animals and plants. Its little granules that you basically by making a tea and water the enclosure and or plants ( just follow the directions). The isopod that is eating another one- is more than likely just eating its old shed* so yes, they do shed, usually in 2 pieces, thats how they grow just like reptiles! Crazy right? The powser blues are called that bc of the "powder" on their coloration (blue) is them actually getting ready to shed ( go in blue like reptiles too) so it makes them look powdery blue so named powder blue isopods. But, every species is a bit different and living in different climates means keepers need to do different things to make the proper temp/humidity for these little creatures. I love seeing how other people keep their isopods/reptiles because you always get new ideas and or better ways to achieve specific care requirements. So thank you so much for sharing! Have a great day

      Are you in Yuma? I've visited AZ at 118. Thought I'd die when I got out of the car. I'm good there up to 105. But here in the South, the humidity adds a whole special torture chamber to existence. 95 at 100% humidity is just inhuman here.

    • @danielleb.7055
      @danielleb.7055 Před 9 měsíci +2

      Yeah, it was 115 down in clearwater beach FL. The humidity is no joke. I used to live outside Phoenix and it would be 120 and it was hot but when I lived in FL with 90 to 95 and close to or 100% humidity it just feels so much worse. But, we only know "the worst" from our own personal experiences. It's just too damn hot anywhere anymore. Most people enjoy the spring and summer. Definitely not me. I love winter and sometimes the mid to end of fall and occasionally super early spring, but only if it's cold. Ha. I want to move north... very far north. My family isn't too keen on the idea, but I love it. Anyway, have a great day

    When you mix isopods do they kill each other? If there is enough food do they just Outperform meaning there are more of the one than the other?

    • @kinshiisgallery1420
      @kinshiisgallery1420 Před 5 měsíci +1

      They won’t kill each other but will compete in food.
      But I will say if you have a more Protien hungry species such as magic potions they will eat the weakest/ youngest if not provided Protien

    • @kinshiisgallery1420
      @kinshiisgallery1420 Před 5 měsíci +1

      Also watching this, he made a couple of mistakes
      When comes to breeding isopods there’s no need for drainage and there MUST be a dry area and a wet area. Humidity is dependent on species
      Also have holes on dry side some species prefer low air flow

  • @tonybucks5709

    This setup doesn't offer any humidity gradient, everything is wet, which is not what isopods need. They need 1 part dry, 1 part humid and 1 part in between. This is simply wrong, looks nice for sure, but wrong.

    • @k2a2l2
