♡ I’m Molly Pelletier. I am a nutritionist and yoga instructor from Cape Cod, MA. I study Nutritional Science/Dietetics at Boston University. I release new science-based nutrition and health videos every Sunday week. In this video, I discuss some tips and tricks for living and eating with acid reflux/GERD. It can be SO challenging to eat when lots of foods (spicy, acidic, fatty, etc) irritate acid reflux symptoms! It’s important to be aware of your individual triggers but not to become fearful and stressed around food. Food should be fun! I hope this video is helpful in learning more about acid reflux, GERD, IBS, healthy eating, and more. LIKE and SUBSCRIBE for more health tips, meditations, and yoga classes.

I only discovered that I have LPR about two months ago, after about 1,5 year of just feeling really frustrated because the doctors couldn't find anything wrong with me. I've even been to an ENT doctor at the hospital. All I was told is that I should increase the amount of PPI's that I was already taking. She had no explanation as to why I had acid damage in my throat, she just said: "there is no reason, some just have it and others don't." After I read the Acid Reflux diet book. I've been on this diet for two months now, I've finally got some relief to my throat. But I am far from saying that I'm cured, because I've still got good days and bad days. Certain days it's just back again. But there is definitely an improvement. My problem is indeed the fact that I'm always hungry in the evening, and just as you described it...I can't even fall asleep like that. Our dinner time has always been standard 6 p.m. but when I go to bed at 11.30 -12.00 at night, it's just too many hours in between. By 10.00 I'm already starving. And this is in spite of the fact that I eat 6 times in a day. Breakfast =oatmeal or scrambled eggs with wholegrain bread. Snack: fruit and low fat no sugar yoghurt. Lunch: often salad, lean protein with wholegrain bread. Snack: my home-baked no sugar whole grain bread, like banana bread (I bake my own stuff, like muffins with oats, dates etc) then dinner often a warm meal, lean meat, vegetables and some sort carbs, be it potato or pasta or rice. Evening snack low fat no sugar yoghurt or kwarg as they call it here, it has extra protein. Anyway this has been my GI diet that I've followed for years. I have since now stopped diary products, tomatoes, onion, garlic, any acid like lemon or vinegar, no peanut butter, nothing fried, no chocolate, no alcohol (though for me a glass of wine was really rare). The hardest for me to quit was the evening yoghurt. I noticed that the dairy was making things worse, I use a vegan yoghurt made of oats now, or made of almonds.

Thank you so much for these tips Molly! ❤️ I agree that managing stress is really importnat, I'd even say it's one of the most important things when it comes to healing. I was really stressed and anxious and after I've decided going to therapy and have started to analyse how I feel / what's going on and managing my stress levels, I felt so much better! So, I definitely recommend stress management and therapy for a better results.

Hello Molly I am new to your channel and I absolutely love your content. I was diagnosed with GERD and have been on Omeprazole (40mg once) for 4 months now and will be continuing for few more months (seems to work OK for me). However my doc has spoken to me about weaning off in few months. Although I am happy to wean off this drug I am also petrified of the rebound re-flux. Could you talk a little abut your weaning experience/protocol? Thanks a ton for your videos. I feel so happy to see you do well without these drugs. I hope I can do the same one day :)

So glad I found your channel! Love your videos. What I’m conflicted about is weather to use betaine hcl and or apple cider vinegar or leave them out. Many people struggling with gerd/lpr have said it has helped them but the use of betaine seems tricky to me. I’m one month in on my healing journey and still having symptoms
