Glad to see the U.K. getting a quality product for their pilot training. I heard their Tucanos were kind of POS and I am sure these Texan II are nowhere near the same build quality.
No it's just that MoD procurement always buy from the lowest bidder. They don't have to use the kit so they don't care about quality or lack of.This is a rehashed Pilatus PC-7 built in the USA. We'd have done better buing the PC-9
The advantage of twin-engined aircraft is that. if one engine packs up, you can crash farther away.
