It’s crazy to see how much the game has changed. They have almost 8 people in each ruck and the line outs are just hilarious
Most of the Kiwi team went back to their 9 to 5 jobs on Monday after the game . Good old days
thanks for this memory
My dad was the one who was waving the flag when the first try from Michael Jones happened.
As highly regarded as *Serge Blanco* is at 15, I'd still have *John Gallagher,* safe as houses under the high ball, great defender and a running Full Back that effortlessly chimed into the back line. Before Ben Smith and Christian Cullen there was *John Gallagher!* 🍺☝🏾🇳🇿
0:00 - 0:37 pure nostalgia...
Is this from bbc?
@@JoyManoppo TVNZ I'd imagine.
@@DoubleMonoLR Correct. More precisely, One (currently TVNZ 1). The commentator is Keith Quinn.
The old commentator is a legend
Keith Quin if I recall
I was in that match watching it
Tank you
When captains spoke articulately.
Love that music typical 80s music anyways this was awesome
The Rake was Real back then
historia puraa!!!!!
Michael jones looks the most athletic
John Gallagher had skills
The start of years of torture to come....
@@sathnidu_athauda Nevermind mate France might finally win 1 nek year 👍
It is staggering to think that some modern-day tier two teams may have a chance to beat this AB team. How the sport has changed.
Never would. This team was great then and would have been great today
You must be insane. That was one of the best teams of all time, regardless of the era.
@@driffter1976 Agreed, as we played rules changed every year. We studied them and adapted to them. We calculated how to use them to our advantage. All great teams did the same.
Every school kid playing rugby wanted to be JK back in those days.
1987 Michael "Iceman" Jones would still be a good in today's All Blacks
6 Kaino 7 Michael Jones
8 Ardie Savea
1:31:04 this passing game is seen today just at boys or cadets level

not releasing should be just a turn over(A tap penalty), theres too much severity in some penalizations and some unfair awards penalties should be reserve pretty much to foul play.
Nah
Great Rugby!.no cuddling and jumping on each other when they score a try. A bit of the old fashion rucking and mauling and when JK scores no waiting 30 minutes while the TMO looks at a hundred angles for an infringement. Ref made a decision and that was that. No dumb haircuts and love the airhorns in the crowd!
I'm a bit of a rugby novice but it's clear to see how different this match looks compared with today's game. I really would like to know when things changed so players approached the game less like this match and more like they do now. Was there a rule change which stopped the game looking as frantic as it used to?
It seems easier to try than modern rugby but less scored.
France got revenge 12 Years later in 1999 Rugby World Cup when they beat the All Blacks in Semi Final.

*it's pretty funny watching the NZ team do the completely out-of-context and 'obligatory' Maori haka before every game (even funnier in bygone eras when it was a fully white team)*
Show me *ignorance* without showing me
43:00 wtf.. He is kicking him!
its a ruck mate
Rucking is outlawed now but it was part of the game back then
What I love is the FR player literally kicks the NZ player who was on the ground, after play had stopped and right in front of the ref, and the ref calls him over and basically says "if you do that again, I'll send you off."
If nothing about the modern game is better, the Haka certainly is haha not particularly intimidating
All is better , you watch the match ? 10 seconds of play , scrum , 10 seconds , scrum
