If one is Native American they would be exempt from prosecution regarding feathers used for religious and cultural purposes. I hope they win their lawsuit.

This act has been declared as a colonial European illegal law in the US, with confiscating indigenous first nations peoples property in which violates indigenous people right of passage on turtle island. This colonial act has been pressed on our people since 1492, we as indigenous people of turtle island don't need to have no permission to ask, to pay nor to show any qualifications to migrate on our own continent within the illegal laws of our foreign oppressor's and its people.

Im an aztec danzante and this really is an insult to us. We dont hunt the birds for their feathers. The feathers are gathered when the birds start or complete the molten process. the reason these birds are endangered is because of Serious Habitat Loss and are hunted just for the game. These feathers are expensive. They can range from $3.00 to $35.00 depending on the size. Each headress holds over 200 feathers. Our headress is a crown so each feather is like a jewel. The feathers also connect us to our gods the higher or longer the feather the closer to them. We wear our headress when we do ceremonies, funerals or special events. they are a symbol of power, beauty, and cultural significance. So they are not just feathers.

If pictures of a dead family member are confiscated what makes them think feathers won’t be?
