Summer of 83' The Saratoga nightclub, New York Ave. Atlantic City, NJ. Hot nights, cold drinks, awesome people, sizzling beats. The best times ever. I remember dancing to this one night and the floor was so hot that the ceiling was sweating into the lights. No one cared and the beat went on. If I could go back for one night!
Brings back memories of really good times and great nights out clubbing in London - those were the days. They were such a different sound, and still are ... Real class.
got this tune I've been collecting as many 80s classics as possible now i have over 3000 pure 80s tunes and still collecting ,i love this tune i was 17 years old so many memories.
Best memories ever kicked out of school sent to my nan and grandads who always ad my back god bless them ❤ they would send me to my uncles room & ide play these over n over ❤❤❤
Used to bop to this in suburbia, miles away dreams of the big smoke from Berkshire! I made it there (London)and never will look back! haha Shows how old I am. brought my copy from Bluebird records Church street Edgeware road.. anybody remember?. It needs more snare :)
Coolest memories ever bunking school to go to lunch time disco, coming out hot sunny day after dancing party in the afternoon. London Town hidden gems basement clubs 100 club 😉😉🎉🎉
I don't have any storied memories like most folks here. Just found it by chance recently on Spotify and I've been a fan since! This makes me feel the 80s vibes of parties I've never been a part of haha
I'm so happy you found this! One of my favorite 80s jams of all time. I'm 19 but i grew up with this song, my dad always played it in the car on holliday. Touring through Europe with this song playing is a memory i'll never let go, i hope you'll make your own memories with this song ;)
I’ll never forget Zero 6 jump on the pathfinder disco coach 9pm at Ilford or East Ham town hall pick up people in Hornchurch and upminister then en route to Zero 6 aviation way Southend in 1983 where the legend DJ Ian Reading was blasting out all the tunes like this one A Massive Big Up To him he brought the band AKA also sunfire to the club !!! 🙏😄
Remembering when i first heard this tune ice skating at Queensway rink in Bayswater, seamed to take a decade getting there, all night in the rink, n years getting home (tube n trains)but what great great memories, makes me wanna cry a little that those times are just memories that cant be relived again!!!!! (",)
This is one of the 1st 12 inch records I bought as a kid and of course I wore a groove in it. The Record sleeves and sound was innovative. Great group lost their way in the rush to be accepted in the pop genre but nevertheless very talented. I put Central Line, Light of the World ahead of them but they all had class about them.
Used to go clubbing with these guys. Shame the went separate ways. Central line, light of the world hi tension David Joseph lynx, Partied with them back in the day 😀 😎👍
Summer of 83. The Chez Paree and Saratoga dance clubs Atlantic City, NJ. Hot nights, cool drinks, fun people and fierce dancing til the sun came up. Great times, great memories brought right back by this track. Thanks.
This was the fucking joint in the Spring of 1982 !!! I stayed high every weekend (for the next 11 years!) going dancing at least 2 nights per week in every major club New York City had. Whether you went home with someone or not we danced all night to have fun and went to breakfast @ 5:00 A.M. the next morning ! Those were the days I wish I could build a time machine, go back to those wonderful, fun-filled days; then blow up that time machine so I could be stuck there forever !!!!! Any body else feels the same way I do - ALL ABOARD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First heard this on the Robbie Vincent Saturday show in early April 1983 (this was released exactly the same time as Loose Ends' 'Don't Hold Back Your Love.'). I still have the tape of the Robbie Vincent Show! After the show, we all headed out to Hammersmith Odeon to buy tickets to see Maze feat. Frankie Beverly in concert (supported by Second Image) - wow what memories...
Robbie Vincent saved me from depression in those days. Music brought me through to adulthood! Underrated DJ should be up there with the greats. Played what he knew was different at the time. When MOBO was never played. Dont believe what you see of the past this kind of stuff was never commercially available in the UK at the time! you had to search for it.
@@alimantado373 A lot of the Jazz Funk and Soul scene was underground. Robbie and Greg Edwards were so important in raising the profile of the music and musicians. I Level's first singles were released in the UK via Virgin and Epic/Columbia in the U.S. Indeed 'Give Me' was remixed in the U.S. but 'Minefield' missed the U.S. market.
There were some cool british bands in the 80’s who went under the radar and were massively underrated, Animal Nightlife And Second Image springs to mine.
Ha to you in NYC... in 82 I was on roller skates,,, often plugged in to my walkman sweeping the streets of London town... diving in and out of clubs with skates still on my feet.. yup happy daze... remember being stopped by police as I flew around speakers corner in Hyde Park in the wee small hours - they warned me of the dangers doing what I was doing... I laughed and said no-one can catch me and whooshed off... yup happy daze...
my god I have not herd this tune for over 30 years & its as good to listen to today as it was back in the day, great memory,s come flooding back to me.love it.
Still have the original LP that this track is from (and still play the LP) I'm truly old skool. Only wish I could find the whole album on CD to buy. Thanks for posting. Brings back fond memories from youth. Love the 80s it has to be the best decade EVER (and I'm old)!
Shit...was this really 37 years ago... feels like yesterday...driving around in my Dolly Sprint with graphic equaliser and this blaring.... neighbours hated me..
Grooved to this in after-hours clubs in Toronto back in 1983. Just wanted to dance in that minefield with my out-there pals. And we did, all dressed up "new wave" (even tho this was funk, but whatever). Great groove, great track.
Absolutely agreed! I'm from Toronto and during my time as a club kid (75-) and DJ (77-89) nuff of the more interesting Disco, Funk, Smooth R&B, and (Proto-)House was coming from the U.K. (Rrrrreally loved Delegation too👍🏾)
Was at Caister for both the events in 83, April and October , pyramids in the Neptune room , whistles, everyone having fun , until one girl fell of the pyramid while attempting to touch the roof, heard a thud as she hit the floor, DJ Martin Collins said "No more pyramids ". Happy days , never forgotten.
