I love this mostly cos I've always loved Status Quo. I remember my Dad buying Rocking All Over The World on vinyl from Woolworths (I think) in 1977 (again I think) and it was anthemic in our house back then. I remember The Quo performing it at Live Aid in 1985. Long live The Quo (RIP Rick Parfitt). I absolutely love the advert and thanks for the memories and getting me toe-tapping, rocking and singing at work (although my colleague's at work might not thank me for that last one!! 😀 🤣😂🤣😂)

I think it was about from the mid 80s the Quo became pretty naff! It was from "In The Army Now" era right up to today, they're so embarrassing! It became Francis Rossi's Quo! I mean a lot of these youngster's haven't a clue who they are! But they'd know The Beatles, Stones, Pink floyd, Queen etc etc! These bands are Legends unlike Quo!

I heard this a few times in M&S. I thought it might be a Comic Relief song.
I think the music video could be better, the lighting is all wrong. Also why aren't Percy Pig and Colin the Catapillar playing in the band? They are the mascots for M&S food brands which are across a large range of their products and so they should be used heavily to make use of the brands. Probably even make reference to the copies of Colin the Catapillar in one of the verses, although probably better with Colin the Catapillar singing the song One and Only by Chesney Hawks.

Makes me sick. The amount of people in the comments saying they love this song and they work at M&S?? Do you have no self respect?? We’re understaffed, underpaid and the best they could do as far as a Christmas bonus goes is an M&S gift voucher. Even then, if you did overtime at Christmas because they said you had to (literally what they did) and then ended up getting sick, you might not even receive your voucher due to absents. But don’t worry, they’ve got enough money to pay status quo… Jesus Christ
You seem to not understand the reality of the need for marketing. So a business can grow and thrive. Should M&S just sit back and wait for people to walk in of their own accord (or not).

Brilliant ad however It would be nice for us staff in Franchise Fuel to get staff discount in main M&S
The Franchise stores seem to work differently. One of my sons went to University in London nearly 10 years ago now so I bought him an M&S gift card to spend on food and his nearest one was a Fuel one - they wouldn't let him use the gift card to pay, so bless him, he had to pay with his bank card - something I wanted him to avoid as he was a student!

Fantastic song and video. Noticed a lot of the comments, people saying its awful and like poundland. Obviously they would prefer some dreary modern sounding crap being played on repeat on a radio station. Its about 2 British institutions that have been around for years supporting one another using a classic to promote good quality food. Quo has done adverts all over the world for Argos and many others. Theres always people who try take the fun out of everything its really sad

@@liamholt9951 I mean I am biased as I've loved Quo since the early 80s. I love all the various line ups over the years. Have seen them live and Francis last year with his solo tour. And Rhinos Revenge!
@@michael5089 I'm the same I'm biased aswell, I've been a fan since the early 90s. I think it was the Argos ad that got me into them. I've been to see them about 10 times now and they never disappoint. No other band comes near them when it comes to live gigs. Hopefully going to see them in Scarborough open air in June. Also got to say they have always had great support bands aswell at every gig.

I saw this comment on LinkedIn and it is so correct.......
On a rational level, I don't see how it can possibly be right for the brand, which has carefully built up a reputation for quality and trustworthiness over 140 years. "This is not just any " is as perfect a piece of positioning as you're likely to ever see in the retail space. But Status Quo FFS? And changing the lyrics to make it even cornier? This could have been right for Morrisons or Asda (or maybe Poundland?) But as a piece for M&S, it trashes its values and debases the brand.
On an emotional level it makes me embarrassed to be in the same industry. It makes me want to tell people I'm an actuary. As a customer, it makes me consider Lidl.
So, on the subject of criticism, I think it has its place. Praising terrible work is equal to discouraging good work, because what's the point? Calling out missteps is necessary for anyone who cares about improving standards and helping clients produce work that's right for their brands.
