    I am a ARNP in family practice. I was very interested in midwifery but, because I am a man, it was discouraged by my graduate faculty. I decided to do family practice and very happy about it. But, still lots of work towards gender equality and dismantling innate bias

    Hi there, just moved to New Orleans and interested in becoming a midwife. I personally don’t want to work in a hospital at all. What are some good CNM programs you recommend?
    I didn’t finish college and used up all my financial aid back then but want to go back to school 😊. I’ll be starting from scratch but that’s good with me! 🎉

    Hey there! As far as international work goes, Do you know of any countries that allow CPM’s to practice there? I’ve spent many years living overseas and would love to be able to use my CPM career in conjunction with that! THX!

    Why do you think that some doctors do not respect CPM,CNM or midwives in the hospital settings?

    What were some of the policies you, Jamie, as a nurse-midwife had to follow that you were maybe not comfortable or in agreement with?

    Can CNM practice in home births or only in birthing centers and hospitals? Thank you for this episode! ❤️

      Hi! It depends on the state and the laws governing the CNMs. In Louisiana, they can but require a collaborative physician and most won't support homebirth.

    Hi there! What school were you referencing that you're able to get a bachelors in midwifery and then go into a cnm program? Thanks so much!

      Ugh, I cannot find it!!! I've been looking since I've posted the video and either the school discontinued it or my brain isn't serving me correctly. Sorry about that.

    Hi! Is the salary different?

    • @CajunStork
      @CajunStork  Před 6 měsíci +4

      The salary will depend on where you work. Many (not all) CPMs tend to be self-employed so your salary will be based on your area and your schedule and availability.
      CNMs who work in a birth center are likely similar to CPMs in salary but those who work in hospital tend to work crazy hours but have a steady salary and other health insurance perks to compensate.
      I wouldn't ever encourage anyone to become a midwife based on $$, because it really is a committed work of love and heart. But if you can kind of foresee what you'd like your work-life-balance to look like along with where your passion to serve is, it can help you determine which route to take... and the money that may be involved
