Thanks for the tip on the pivot tool from Flytanium! Also, I agree that the black hardware should be made available as an option at the point of purchase with the scales. I've got a pair of Metonboss Sunrise scales I'm installing on my old 940 and am looking forward to getting the pivot tool to make the job easy. Thanks 10/10

I did the same but with the black DLC coated titanium radar scales. Murdered out 940 with M4 is 🔥
Now that’s a sweet 940 build!
Great video. I'm on my second new FT 940 kit where either the screws are too long, or the scales are too deeply counterbored, but whatever the case I can't get the scales to tighten up on the barrel spacers. First time I've had an issue with FT products, usually they are right on. Sent the first one back, second one same problem. Glad yours worked.
Oh that is frustrating. FT will take good care of you and get you the right hardware. Make sure to let them know about the long screws so they can get you dialed in! I dig the scales!
Just had the same issue with the barrel spacers and screw lengths...how is your action after install? Mine was terrible and has me questioning if the scales are truly good on any 940 as mine is the 940-2.
@@richardhom1614 Ya know, I haven't actually gotten around to installing them yet. I need to either return them, or I need to figure out a way to shorten the screws without buggering up the threads. I cannot assemble it otherwise. In the midst, I ordered a set from Metonboss. They're decent, and the action is good. I also ordered a pair from Rockscale. I think those are my favorite in terms of fit and finish so far, Metonboss second, and then Flytanium. I should also note that the generic Smokey MTN Knife Works stonewashed scales are cheap and fit pretty well, just not as fancy as others.
They look good. I’ve been wanting to put some on my 945. I just need to get a pivot tool to make it easier lol
I agree about the black hardware. One of things holding me back from getting a set so hopefully they make it available. I reached out to them and well see what they say
Hi there! We offer black hardware with our DLC Ti Radar 940 scales. Black with black, silver with silver. We don't offer the black with silver or vice versa. Hope this helps!
Wonder if the old black screws work; not the spacers/barrels, just the screws?
Or if flytanium work allow buyers to choose. At an extra price is fine.
1) Scales (titanium/black)
2) Spacers(stainless/black/color)
3) Screws(stainless/black/color)

I was on the Flytanium sight about an hour before I watched this video & they still have the Ti Scales but are Sold Out of the Pivot Tool. ~ 😐
I'm guessing one of my screwdriver's will fill the bill.

Nice job . The only thing that you might consider is replacing the omega springs . Mine has broken three so far . Just replaced them with after market
ones this time .

@@zachstuff sorry better clarify the first time both broke . This last time only one broke . It was less than a month old and I sent it in .
I bought a spare set and just replaced them both this last time . These are Chinese but actually seem stronger.

Did you try using the original black screws?
The thread of the flytaniums screws must be the same as the original ones because they are screwed into the original liners. Is the problem here the length of the screws or the size of the screw head?
It was a length and thread issue. They sent me a new set that worked great!

Very very nice. But I do like the jade scales. I have a jade Bugout but I don't know anyone here in Canada that carries jade Osbornes. (I won't order from USA companies because I'm worried that they won't make it over the border).
The jade 940 is a bladehq exclusive.

Trying to replace my scales and the stud t6 just wont come out, any tips?
Those are the tough ones. Use some low heat setting on a hair dryer to loosen us the locktite on the screw. Go slow and it might take a couple tries. Some have used other things to heat the screw, but it might melt the plastic scale.
You can also soak some rubbing alcohol on it or WD-40
I think I stripped the screws unfortunately, so going to get some easy outs and my father is gonna help

Benchmade should strike up a deal wit Flytanium or AWT and offer a version of their 940's wit Ti scales and Flytanium hrdware (e.g. blue). There's already an Alu/S30V and CF/S90V....perhaps sell it with a CruWEar blade....not everyone wants to buy tools to mod their knives...rather have it arrive modded.

I have used two tools mostly for the pivot alignment. First is from Flytanium at www.flytanium.com and the other is from Rust Bucket Goods on Etsy. Just search benchmade pivot tool and it should pop up.

Awesome dude. I love it. I want to do one just like it. I did something kind for someone today. I’m kind of a mean guy so something that is not mean is sort of a kind thing coming from me. So what I did that was kind, went like this.. some guy didn’t use his blinker at an intersection and I wanted to flip him off and yell out the window at him with some profanity. But I wanted to do something kind for someone, so I just threw up my hands and gave him the stink-eye. No profanity or middle finger. Coming from a mean guy like me - this is as kind as one will hope to receive. Hopefully it brightened up that guys day as opposed to making it worse.
They're awesome, but compared to their G10 they're just so heavy. I keep switching back.
They do add some weight for sure. Changes the feel!
From photos the jade scales from Flytanium seem less translucent than the ones that come on that blade HQ model. Does that make sense?
