good for Ghana! now what the country needs to do is to encourage and if possible subsidized people that want to build own and run small factories that make the parts there, instead of importing them from China. that way you keep the money circulating within the society instead of going overseas. if every small town specialized in making one, two, three or more parts, to send to the main Factory to be assembled it could be an economic boom for their country. not to mention specializing in a part(s) and community pride around it wood definitely make for better quality products and higher morale overall.

These are Chinese cars assembled in Ghana. South Africa are producing about seven millions cars a year. Some BMW, Mercedes and Ford models gets manufactured in South Africa and are then exported around the world. Even to Germany. South Africa refines more petrol than the rest of Sub-Saharan Africa combined. We make our own tires, automotive glass, automotive paint. We even make cars for Noble and f1 sports cars. But we are slowly losing everything to cheap and sub-standard Chinese imports. As we are losing our engineers to Australia.

Donnie you are right. That is the way Africa should be heading. We have too long been dependent on all the shit that first the Arabs countries, then the European countries, and now North Korea and China has been dumping on us. But we should be able to see the truth. We should not get emotional about this rebadged Mitsubishi / Foday Lion. Let's take the best of the world, and add to that our own ingenuity. But we first must rid Africa of these corrupt politicians. Africa has got great potential, but that potential is killed by Africa's weakness to select despots as prime ministers. Many great Africans has literately been killed or sidelined or jailed by "African politics".

Most developing countries have an assembly line for major auto manufactures. Pegeot and Volkswagen, British Leyland and Mercedes-Benz had these sort of assembly plants in Nigeria in the 1970s to 1980s. They were mere Completely knocked Down parts reassembled locally. They were never described as made in Nigeria. Cos they were not. 40 years later, the Chinese are doing the same in Ghana. Difference is that the Ghanaians have given liberty to give the assembled unit any name it wants. This is misleading.
