It has been done by 5 or 6 companies already and the first one to come out is about years old already.

@@mike-zy4fr Steiner, Iray, SIG, Meprolight, and X-Vision, to name a few. There were some other minor ones, I'm guessing the OEMs of some of the companies I listed. I'd say Iray has the best one right now. But Thermal+Reflex is not a great idea IMO.

The best to come out of shot show hands down
This has to be the best option for a home defense setup. No vis light to telegraph your location, no need for heavy weapon mounting thermal or IR, no need to put on a helmet or skull crusher, works in complete darkness or daylight. Works as a red dot if you want or need it to, doesn’t prevent the use of a white light for positive ID when ready.
Also, the hybrid thermal means it’s far more useful for navigating darkened environments, since you’ll have contrast even on stuff that’s the same temperature. I also believe they have a version that’s digital night vision, which I’d like to see in person vs the two thermal options.
As of now, the high res thermal is on my immediate buy list.
The problem is the thermal on this I wanna say only works out to around 30 feet. Still plenty good for home defense but much less useful outside it
The light from the screen would light up your face in complete dark, right? Having the optic mounted forward should help keep the light on your face low though.

@@thomgizziz I'm not talking about it's capability as a dot. I'm talking about the range of the thermal sensor. The thermal is going to struggle past 30 feet to identify signatures due to the low resolution and limitations of such a system in such a small package. The primary benefit of a thermal is discovering where creatures are at a range, this one will not be good for that.
And so answer me this: if the thermal is sucks why are you spending 1600 dollars

The red dot is 600 for an AR when they’re literal pistol red dot is 600 it just doesn’t make sense that’s why I don’t like these big brands but at the end of the day, they LEDs lights, and other things that do work better.

Yes, the rifle thermal is coming out in 2 weeks as of Jan 25 2024. The night vision is coming sooner. The new pistol thermal optic may be another year before it's released.

Sensor is probably InSb or CZT on GaN. Resolution in the 244hz to 360hz range. Probably a 30hz refresh rate, so about $500 - $700 in actual parts.

I legit love this! It just shocked me out of nowhere. It’s so useful to identify targets even in well lit areas, and the nighttime capabilities are astonishing. I just worry that too many people won’t confirm the target is a threat before shooting, because it’s easy to shoot all the head shaped green figures, which makes it very hard to distinguish sometimes. If it could notify someone is armed by marking them differently, that’d be an insane upgrade to this. But I’ll prob get one anyway
