Singamajigs were the bain of my existence as a kid. I thought about them every day, I would become paralyzed with fear whenever I saw one. I hated the horrible sounds they made and their ugly, beady eyes. I refused to go into toy stores for fear that I might see them on the shelves.
The way they pronounce the words in a high pitched, sped up and also choppy kind of way reminds me so much of animal crossing. They sound like the villagers!
We randomly had one in a toddler classroom I was teaching in and when I tell you the kids LOVED it even though it didn't work and just would let out one cut off little "AH-" if you pushed it really hard. They fed it toy food and bit their fingers with it or played baby lol it was a favorite.
I think sing-a-ma-jigs/sing-a-ma-lings are adorable, but any time I see one, I think of the video I saw where someone gets messes with theirs so they can get it to say "skiiinnn" 😭
i had a nightmare as a kid when i had two singamajigs...and it blended in with my reoccurring nightmares of self driving cars crashing through my window with 'grass skirt chase' playing. This is a real experience...i fear these creatures.

I had the Yankee Doodle sing-a-ma-jig! My grandma got it for me for my 7th(?) birthday. I had no idea so many people stilled remembered these things. I wish I still had mine now 😭
in 2010 I was in the 10th grade, going into 11th. I remember begging my mom for one of these for my birthday and I didn't know why. They were just so cute and I loved the concept lol. Now that I'm 28 and a proper toy collector, I understand and accept myself for why I wanted them. I think I had 2 or three and I still love to get them down and make them sing sometimes lol.
I have a very specific story about these guys, I never saw them stores or anything about them ever before but when I was like 7 or 8 we found a working one stranded on the beach and we took it home because it was so silly and funny. I don't have the guy anymore think I donated him.

My parents bought me the pink one with a striped shirt with bunny ears, I think? (Long time ago) I found it again one day and was creeped out by it that I threw it in the hallway closet of the house. Later that night I HEARD THE SING-A-MA-JIG STILL SINGING. I WAS SO SCARED 😭😭😭

there is a singamajig in one of the film classrooms at my university. hes been there for years and i used his little noises for a film project. i had no idea it was a singamajig, this cideo finally solved that mystery for my (and i might have to take him as my own lolol)

I had the Mickey and Minnie ones!!! I remember one of them would not stop singing even if it wasn’t being pressed, the batteries never died.

My grandpa (mom's side) is absent in my life, but when I was young he did gift me almost 5 of these little guys. I think my dad got rid of them, but he got me one for my bday last year. (I really missed them!)

oh.... is this what people who are scared of furbies feel? its just so.... offputting, the swollen lips and the way you have to squeeze them to get them to make noise, and they can only "sing" in quick short bursts makes me feel like these are small animals that are in pain and being tortured for entertainment.
