Nice to see a review from the Object 704. I've always thought why should I get this tank when it's almost the same as ISU-152, but just one tier higher.
I love how the chat bar on all of QBs videos looks like a rave.
I'm sure that the cupolas on the T95 bounce more then an angled Obj 704
Not from tier 9&10 tanks. They all pen, especially with skill rounds.
The frontal armour arguement is invalid as the T95 coupolas are stronger (about 240mm) than the upper plate on the 704. The upper plate is effectively only 170mm. Although I must say that the spaced armour is very troll. However the camo rating is FAR too good and the gun reload feels halarious compared to that of my T30 :P
T95 couplas are not 240mm... It can be penned with as little as 180mm as as I've done with the Pershing
T95's footprint, huge engine deck, and sluggish speed makes it a prime arty target though. 704 is the better rounded TD - no lie.
Ferdinand Porsche They are 152mm thick and easily penetrated as you can't angle them.
I did make an error. The weakest part of the coupolas is 218mm Effective. But then the rounded shape means that alot of the rest is 230-320. So yes the 704 is much better overall but the T95 does beat it when it comes to armour.
Ferdinand Porsche Yes becuase people always shoot the thickest part... T95 armour is only good at range (which is bad as you miss a lot) or when you hide the cupolas like when angling behind a building or something which I do a lot when I can, but otherwise you're at the mercy of them shooting the cupolas.
With the 704, you can angle quite a bit behind a building just poking out a bit, which usually results in them shooting and bouncing most of the time, so after playing with the T95, the 704 does look like a much more better option with it's higher DPM, speed, maneuverability and effective angling opportunities.
If you say Obj 704 has armor you're ignorant QB. I'm sorry for saying that, but 180 effective frontal armor is not good by any means. There are some autobounce angles on the sides when idiots shoot there, so that's "good", but frontally? No. You said "impenetrable when angled like this". No, that's about 200 effective in your example. You will get "impenetrable" values (~270mm) at about 67-68 degrees of angle, and autobounce at 70 degrees, but then you're exposing your entire side. Bottom line is; frontally it's trash at tier 9, but can troll people when they shoot at the angled sides.
I've been finding the Object 704's front armour very trolly, bounce quite a lot with the M46 Patton's 105mm, sometimes with a 120mm from the E5, and sometimes with the T95 155mm, it's so weird
Although I haven't played WoT in ages. 704's frontal armor can be trollish imo. I've been forced to use HEAT in one on one confrontations with my E-100 against a 704 aiming at the obvious exposed open area of UFP just to the left of the 704's gun and seen the shot have no damage. Mind you the 704 I faced during this certain exchange wasn't slightly angled to the left or right, it was facing me straight on. Though I've also had shots with my E-100 using AP at over 500m penetrate the UFP of the 704 as well. It's some RNG shenanigans.
Prich038 The only thing that can bounce frontally is the gun mantlet, which is of course strong. It's the hull that is weak, that so many apparently think is good.
yoshi542 Then you hit the gun mantlet, (or the autobounce side armor), if you shot a HEAT shell with 330mm penetration at the front and didn't do damage. It has nothing to do with RNG. If you hit the hull, you will always pen unless your gun has less than 200mm of penetration.
About 2 months ago, I managed to bounce from the side of an Object 704 with a Borsig with the 150 mm gun. I was amazed how the Object was able to survive two shots while its side armor in theory is less than the half of the penetration of the Borsig's 15 cm gun with AP. Now, I understand why my shots did not penetrate the Object. Thx a lot QB for this review.

After all the changes(to both maps and TD itself, mostly the severely nerfed viewrange), this thing really needs slightly better traverse(ST-I has better hull traverse).
Spot at 23:00 isn't really usable now unless there's only a heavy on the other side.
Absolutely love this tank. Feels like a huge improvement over the isu-152. One thing you didn't mention that is a massive improvement is the gun depression. Not sure how many degrees, but im sure its a few degrees better witch is a huge help in these TDs.
why does everyone always think the object 704 armor is good??!?!? its got ~160mm effective armor at the front and angling it to a point where you can bounce TIER 8 heavies they can just shoot you through the sides!

you are going to absolutely love the 263. It has the face of a Jagdpanzer E100 with the mobility of an E50, and not to mention it has a gun that fires every 9.5 seconds for 550 damage. I hope you do a review of the 263 just so I know what your opinion is of the machine and maybe some tips I can learn from you while i play it.
Great review Quicky, but you didn't mention the oldest German tier 9 TD, the Jagdtiger. I would have been interested to hear where/how you rated the Jagdtiger in relation to its tier 9 peers. I don't have the WT Auf Pz IV yet, but really enjoy playing my Jagdtiger
The most important mechanic change is the new ricochet system, whereby the shell will continue on for much longer and can even impact & damage a nearby tank!
A side effect of this is also tanks that had auto-bounce glacis plates, such as KV based tanks, the mid-plate is currently auto-bounce and the ricochet does not penetrate the upper hull. In 9.3, it will. So these tanks will troll much less at long range.
With all due respect, don't change vents for camo net, put Gun laying drive on.
And camo perk is a must before any repairs skills come in play. Matter of fact. BIA>CAMO>Clutch Breaking before any repairs added to your tank.

Great review. I have this researched but I haven't bought it yet. Also I want to keep my ISU-152 but I'll probably move the crew to this.
Well, I don't own it, so I haven't tried it, but when Quicky showed how he would angle the tank between the shots to make the 120 mm armor more effective at around 3:20, I saw that rather large piece of 90 mm armor at the sides become very visible. If I ever see someone angling an Object 704 like that, I know, where I gonna try to sink my shot.
QB can you explain why you didn't do damage to the T110E5 in the second game as you were aiming directly at the cover of its tracks? Is there no hitbox or were the shots just missing very closely?

This was, without a doubt in my mind, THE best video I have seen to date concerning this TD/AG....I have not decided if I even want to "advance" to tier 9 as yet but I do like to know what I have to look forward to, good or bad, depending on your point of view. Keep up the great work.
Like I said, I don't know if I want to advance to tier 9....I stay dazed and confused as it is....
FD Mackey Well, you could look at it like this: the Obj 704 can only see tanks 1 tier above it at the most, while the ISU can also go up against tier 10s, bringing fewer hitpoints, worse armor, and slightly worse gun stats with it. On the other hand, the ISU can bring the BL10 pain to tier 6s, which is straight-up overkill. I myself have stopped at the ISU, and idk if I'll even bother going farther. To be honest, I kind of feel the same way about the T54 and the T-62a.
Very astute observations on all points waveman99. I'm slowly getting back into WoT and have clearly fallen behind in several areas and/or forgotten aspects, both good and bad of many vehicles. Thanks for the response.

Jeffrey Wilson Just looked up the changes. Not too bad of a nerf if they don't slow the reload or reduce the shells in the canister. Kind of like the first WT nerf. It'll still be great.

Love the 704! The BL-10 is a mean gun and the 704 is so much more more mobile than my T95, although I do love my Jagdtiger as well, the gun on the 704 is a sheer delight.
And yeah the T30 takes a long time to load, the turret is nice but rotates slowly and it has that Swiss cheese hull. I don't have any of the other tier 9 TDs beyond these 4 to compare them as of yet.

just wanna know - has the obj 704 been nerfed/buffed since this video was produced - does it still stack up as well against the buffed and newer tanks in the recent patches and newest 9.21 patch ?
When i had 704, i have almost always someone buged match making. I was always between 3 t9 tanks :)... Absolutly awesome grinding of this tank...

Use tank inspector you can see the effective armor when angling and such
How should I grind tanks? Get to tier 10 and start a new line, get to tier 6 and start a new line in addition to playing the first tier 6 etc.
Nice review QB i just have one question what is better the 704 or the 268? the 704 has spaced armor so i was leaning towards it as i have taken a lot of hits that have done no damage :)

Ofc, the 268 is better, its a tier higher its gun better gun performance better armor and i think its faster, very very good tank.

the 704 enjoys better camo rating, better gun arc and more trollish armor. The 268 is no more the powerhouse it was after the T10 TD nerfs.

Sorry if I seem kinda ignorant here, but I've noticed it on other WoT videos: What do those symbols beside the silhouette of some tanks on the in game tank list mean? I know it's part of a mod, and it seems to only ever be applied to tanks in platoons. Is it some kind of rating or categorizing mark?

Liked the review, but QB could you please start using Tank inspector rather than WoT tank viewer? I feel that Tank inspector is much more flexible and can give you a much more accurate armor profiles. It's never too late to change.

the 704 is not the oldest T9 Tank Destroyer. That title rests with the JagdTiger, as it existed before the 704 came to the game by a long stretch. That said, ever since the 704's launch, it has indeed been the most feared of the T9 TD's in the game.
I would agree as being the best rounded. My fav TD is the tort but its slow and super weak spots but that dpm I just love and it hits what it shoots. buts is slow so all in all yeah best well rounded.

Why does this tank have gold ammo and what is the point in using it? I was in my e75 and a obj704 was able to put three shots through my lower glaces at about a 75 degree angle. All he had to do was ap through the side but he fires gold at the front and penetrates
The view range on the Obj.704 is mediocre 360m, not 390m now.That review was before td view range nerf in 9.6.
I also love this tank because it is boss with the reload and the alpha damage

The 704 is a monster. I used to like the JTiger more, but totally not now.
Does anyone know the name of a level 10 German tank destroyer that is an auto loader with a 6 round clip, each shot does roughly 500 to 600 damage. Its also a very big tank destroyer and take 60 sec to reload. I'm just curious bc my friend just got one the other night and I'm trying to look into it bc i may start that line bc its pretty good but I can't remember the name lol.

A few years ago a couple friends use to play this a lot on xbox. I thought this game was stupid back then and never played it really. Now my friends have PlayStation 4 now and recently I decided to download this game just to be able to play with them bc my buddy said he would start a new line so he can help me level up. I must say it does suck at first especially with no premium so I bought a year of it and now a few weeks later I have a deathstar lol and I love this game. I work in water transfer for fracking and oil pads so all i do at work is play this game for 10 hours every night while I'm at work lmao so you could technically say I'm being paid 1200 a week to play tanks bc its literally all I do

When angled, the 704 has about 200-230mm of frontal armor. I wouldn't call that impenetrable unless you're in a tier 7:/
The Object has trollarmor when angling because of the extreme slope+angling=autobounce angles.

The Obj 704 is one of the few original tier 9 TD's that has weathered the "power creep" of newer tanks rather well.

I still don't get why he uses WOT Tank viewer. Tank inspector provides the armour analysis and full on stat comparisons, including hidden ones.

It should be noted that while this is the best tier 9 TD it's likely because it has the biggest grind of all tier 9's to get to tier 10! (301,000 exp)
i don't know what they did to obj.268 but his accuracy is like obj.704. Last map 3 shots miss in row....

I used to say SU 1 hit u r dear, ISU 2 hits u r dead, Obj 4 hits you are dead. But that was a couple of years back. There some dangerous tanks out there now in current patches.

i think that so the 704 feels like the gun is a little better on it that the isu-152 should have its rof nerfed to about 2.9 so it will still reload decently quick but not insanely quick like it is now. for example i played the isu-152 for the first time in ages with no equipment at all an i felt like i was seal clubbing it as too easy at tier 8 it felt op as hell thats another reason why i like the 704 it is good but not op in my opinion if the traverse was better it would be.

:D he said my favorite tank :3 I love my Foch but I do feel that the T95 has probably the best chance in a 1 on 1 fight with another tier 9 TD because everyone knows even with deadeye those tracks are still hard as fuck to get off and it turns pretty quick (I have clutch braking) and to be honest the hatchs are hard to pen at long range let alone hit :P what can I say? its the doooooom turtle
