Why Shock Troopers is Worth Playing

- Shock Troopers, developed by Saurus and also produced by SNK for NeoGeo systems, might seem like another attempt at Metal Slug, just, this time, from more of a birds-eye-view perspective.
But this isn't the case.
Shock Troopers has it's own thing going on.
It is brilliant fun, with a lot of challenge, but not nearly as difficult as something like Metal Slug.
Shock Troopers actually has controls that feel right at home for a modern video gamer, with a dodge roll and everything.
And a decent sized health bar, to boot. Not just the ol' one-hit deaths from other similar games.
Though it's... definitely got a wild story-line and sense of presentation.
The terrorist group known as Bloody Scorpion kidnaps the scientist George Diamond and daughter Celia Diamond. Thus, a team of international soldiers teams up to save them. Things... progress.
It was 1997, after all.

Saurus only existed for 6 years and pumped out 16 games. Even more surprising, some of those are worth playing a quarter century later. Crazy.
The company just couldn't handle the year 2000.
However, before Y2K, the developed notable classics like Samurai Showdown! 1 & 2, World Heroes 2, and the spectacular lesser-known NeoGeo CD game, Ironclad. They even made a Last Blade game for the NeoGeo Pocket.

Why does this exist? You either already know about this game or you're probably never going to play it. It shows up on 99% of the "top Neo Geo" game lists regardless. There is nothing else to be said about this game. It's over for this game. It's a done deal. WRAPPED UP.
What makes you think you're qualified to review it, anyway? What do you know? Doesn't seem like you know JACK. You say it plays like a modern game. It plays NOTHING like a modern game. It doesn't even have analog aiming or let you control movement and shooting direction independently. It's nothing like a modern game.
