Young people have no idea what they missed in the 80's those were the greatest years. But thanks to youtube and XM1 radio #44 siouxsie and all this alternative music and be listen too. Get XM1 radio you will love it. Regular radio is a thing of the pass.
My daughter (who is an aspiring musician) and I have had long conversations about how the new music just keeps moving forward on the foundation set by the old. New Wave/Post-Punk was built on the foundation of late 60s/early 70s Progressive and Psychedelic. Today's Indie Rock is built on the foundation set by 80s New Wave and Post-Punk. The wheels keep turning, and it's beautiful to see.
Great band, great singer. Siouxsie is just fantastic. I once bought her a pint in a club in London in 80's she didn't even say thank you. But I didnt care. She was just so charismatic and fantastic looking. Those were the days//sigh
This is my absolute fav version of this song. Saw Siouxsie at Irvine Aud..in Philly in late 80s...She is still awesome. P.S. So is the reset of the band.
what a great trip i remember it well hot sunny day vibrant skies now im older and more responsible love the beatles but this reminds me so much of the eighties post punk psychedelic scene
This shows that not all early 80s videos sucked in quality...this is actually very well done and doesn't look dated. Shot in Venice, it looks like they had a good time filming this. Great song.
the beatles, you just have to be in a place to hear there music and realize its not a soda commercial you heard a million times. The music has been around so long that it like the sound of your own heartbeat...listen to that when you are quietly resting and you will be amazed
i still love the original the most, but this version of dear prudence is still definitely worth a listen, and imo one of the best beatles covers i've heard.
This was a pretty killer cover version of one of my favorite Beatles tunes. Just about as beautiful as the acoustic, haunting original...thanks for posting!
id did write a reply which hasn't shown up here. this version is so much better than any i have heard and that includes the Beatles. A deep and meaningful version. i have always like this song by sioxsie it is her song - and being 43 i am an old banshees fan x
it's just because in just 6 years of life (63/69), they passed from the 60's beat to 70's hard rock, before others. they tried psychedelic music before, and if you listen ALL their albums, you can find out that. it's not just a bunch of pop songs, but lots of songs that altered the concept of music in the 60's! now they'r known for that bunch of songs, and not all their work. they have more albums than you can even imagine, and they sing about something, not just "love", as anyone believes.
The funniest thing about this clip is to see Robert Smith (from The Cure, to those who may don't know) making part of it as if he wasn't one of graetest band leaders of recent music history. Long live S&TB!
DOMMER great post!!! It is a great song by a great artist.Siouxie is a goddess!! Keep them coming. I like this version better than the Beatles, it is a lot more fuller.Thanks.
You are mistaken. Robert Smith did do a stint with Siouxsie & the Banshees. Yes, he had the Cure band, but he played guitar for Siouxsie when they released Nocturne in '83. He was the guitar and keyboards player for Hyaena in '84. He performed as a member of the Banshees when they played the Royal Albert Hall. Robert also had a band called The Glove. Anyway, his collaboration with Siouxsie is well known among die-hard Cure fans.
that makes 2 of us!!! Been loving her for over 20 years now....and this cover is better than the original!!!! And I'm not even a fan of covers....( not counting The Sisters Of Merrcy ofcourse)
I USED to think that TOO , But on reflection , i like the original , slightly more... i think i based my thoughts on radio play of the original , when i actually got the "white album" and heard IT properly , the great guitar sound blew me away. AS covers GO ,though , this is in the top 10 of BEST EVER
ftwelve12~No other good Beatles covers? Have you not seen the film Across the Universe? There were a lot of excellent covers there!! I've been a Beatles fan since I was 13 and that was when they came out with their 1st record...Siouxsie and the Banshees tops all others on their cover of Dear Prudence, IMO.
This reminds me of my first girlfriend. It was the song that brought us together. She was probably the best looking girl in school and her name was Erminia.
I absolutely hate that people think Robert Smith was the originator of this kind of look. Siouxie was doing it back in the 70's!!! Also, it was just a very punk rock type of look from the 77 era of punk that got mainstreamed later on just like everything else. It's great to see this video to remind me of what real music is.
You said it, this was before 'goth' and before 'alternative'. It was about just being yourself and not caring what others thought. That was much harder to do in the ultra-conservative 80's than it is today.
Prudence was actually Mia Farrow's sister. She was with her sister Mia when they were all together in India, trying to find themselves with the Maharishi.
I agree with you EuroAlien, its Siouxsie's body if she is happy then its her decision. Though I don't see why her Armpits should be important when she is singing so beautifully.
BoysDontTry~ I disagree with you where you say that the Beatles were overrated by their fans. I was a 13 year old girl when they released their first singles. They captured the world's imagination with their fresh, innovative sound and persona. There was nothing like them tho there were the wannabes. I see the Beatles as the musical pioneers of their day and their influence is still strong. Underrated? Never.

I think this is one of the best cover songs ever.
When you cover some band, do not imitate.
Siouxie&the Banshees did their own version.
My daughter (who is an aspiring musician) and I have had long conversations about how the new music just keeps moving forward on the foundation set by the old. Favorite cover of a Beatles track ever...even prefer it to the original...kinda haunting with that reverb on the vocals...excellent!!!
This is my absolute fav version of this song. Saw Siouxsie at Irvine Aud..in Philly in late 80s...She is still awesome. P.S. So is the reset of the band.
This was my favorite lineup with Robert Smith!! He is so awesome. I love this version of the song.
Wow,I haven't seen this in years!! It was great then and still great now!!
i love her voice and style. Well done Siouxsie, well done, you are part of my history. Now, you can rest and enjoy your life.
One of my favourite Siouxsie songs. I know it's a cover, but there's just something special about it.
God, I remember this cover from my teenage years, those were the days.......
i just love this song.
they all look splendid
The thing that amazes me is just how much of the Beatles' psychedelic stuff can be covered fantastically as goth tracks. :) Brilliant.
what a great trip i remember it well hot sunny day vibrant skies now im older and more responsible love the beatles but this reminds me so much of the eighties post punk psychedelic scene
god, back in college, we'd get stoned and listen to this over and over.
This shows that not all early 80s videos sucked in quality...this is actually very well done and doesn't look dated. Shot in Venice, it looks like they had a good time filming this. Great song.

This is one of my all times favourites
She will always be a class act in my book
This was a pretty killer cover version of one of my favorite Beatles tunes. Just about as beautiful as the acoustic, haunting original...thanks for posting!
You hit the nail on the head. FANTASTIC version.
I love both versions, but this is brilliant!
There are few songs more nostalgic an ethereal than this one.
I LOVE this cover. Siouxsie kicks ass.
I worship The Beatles, but never heard the original version, and because I was only born in the '70s - really liked Siouxsie's version of this song.
best cover version of all time
I love it when Bob spins around
Yeah I'm really glad someone finally fixed this Beatles song. Who knew all it was missing was 80s synths?
i use to dance to this in LA at Phases in the valley brings back memories
id did write a reply which hasn't shown up here. this version is so much better than any i have heard and that includes the Beatles. A deep and meaningful version. i have always like this song by sioxsie it is her song - and being 43 i am an old banshees fan x
Great one, absolutely top-notch -- more than a cover, it's just another feeling you put into it, a dark and bold one!
como te extraño patty lpz lzko
con esta rolita te recuerdo y me alucino en mi recamara
excellent track........clean and simple structure......exciting melody.
LOVE Siouxsie Sue!!!! Thanks for finding the song!!!
I have just added Siouxsie and the Banshees to my hit list for this. Say goodbye.
classic..................just an enlghtning expression of talent....
Brilliant version. Simple, great arpeggios.
Thank you for adding this video. I enjoyed this song. It was nice to see the video.
esta cancion y su ritmo me hace alucinar y viajar al pasado recordando a mi amada exnovia patty lpz lzo
This song makes me happy. ^^ I never did like the Beatles, so this is the only version of the song I like!
it's just because in just 6 years of life (63/69), they passed from the 60's beat to 70's hard rock, before others. they tried psychedelic music before, and if you listen ALL their albums, you can find out that. it's not just a bunch of pop songs, but lots of songs that altered the concept of music in the 60's! now they'r known for that bunch of songs, and not all their work. they have more albums than you can even imagine, and they sing about something, not just "love", as anyone believes.
Very nice cover of one of the best tunes ever!
Siouxsie and the Banshees FOREVER!!!!!
Buena versión a este hit de los beatles, no lo desmerece en lo absoluto!
extremadamente chingon , me transporto al paraiso, super chingon
Love it , Of corse I love the original , but this is truely an awesome cover. Siouxsie was always so damn cool.
THis is the best remade version period
The funniest thing about this clip is to see Robert Smith (from The Cure, to those who may don't know) making part of it as if he wasn't one of graetest band leaders of recent music history.
Long live S&TB!
You had to be there to understand how powerful this was then. It's a different world now. I'm fifteen again.
A worthy cover. Very beautiful.
I love siouxsie's version, it is the best!!!
siouxsie gran rola una de mis favoritas de beatles..
DOMMER great post!!! It is a great song by a great artist.Siouxie is a goddess!! Keep them coming. I like this version better than the Beatles, it is a lot more fuller.Thanks.
este video me hace poner los pelos de punta!!
salud
Hahaa, I had forgot that Robert Smith of the Cure was actually in Siouxsie and the Banshees back then.
Too kewl!
Love love this song :D
i guess we like it as much because we love siouxie and the banshees! >:)
Wonderful song--thanks for posting.
Give these people a "What're you lookin' at?Punks!" look when they stare at you with your Siouxsie tee :°) She rules!!
She once stole my drinkat a club in London. Seriously. But I love her.
You are mistaken. Robert Smith did do a stint with Siouxsie & the Banshees. Yes, he had the Cure band, but he played guitar for Siouxsie when they released Nocturne in '83. He was the guitar and keyboards player for Hyaena in '84.

She came around just before siouxsie, check out her album flex every song is amazing.
I love this version its fab. Siouxsie is a icon/music queen, I'm not gonna put that goth/punk queen tag, she will probably hit me! :-) love siouxsie
Actually most educated people would know that this cover is one of the most well known and best Beatles covers their is.
this is fab love it
CLASSIC!
dear prudence farrow...thanks John rip
Big beatles fan,I like this version also.
that makes 2 of us!!! Been loving her for over 20 years now....and this cover is better than the original!!!! And I'm not even a fan of covers....( not counting The Sisters Of Merrcy ofcourse)

just great
This is SUCH a bloody good song, aye. (Y)

yeah, it captures the mood of the original track...
the best version...
Siouxsie..., i love you girl
I absolutely hate that people think Robert Smith was the originator of this kind of look. Siouxie was doing it back in the 70's!!! wow, I am pleasantly surprised, rarely does anyone do the beatles without fucking it up but they pulled it off quite nicely I knew I liked them :)
Reminds me of LUTON punk scene 79/80. UKDECAY.
I liked this song when The Beatles did it.
This is the only Beatles cover that I really like
One of the only covers that is miles better than the original...i heard one of the original beatles admitted that.
You said it, this was before 'goth' and before 'alternative'.
It was about just being yourself and not caring what others thought.
That was much harder to do in the ultra-conservative 80's than it is today.
old fave
I love this!
To me it's a huge improvement from their "Helter Skelter" cover.
Prudence was actually Mia Farrow's sister. She was with her sister Mia when they were all together in India, trying to find themselves with the Maharishi.
excelente vercion.original de jhon lennon...si lennon estuviera vivo...aplaudiria esta vercion
I loved she...
absolute fantastic cover!!!
at least thy're an incredible group
lovely
the reson Robert Smiths appear in this video is that he was a bandmember of The Banshees
One of the best covers of a Beatles song before it was chic to cover Beatles songs
Une de mes chansons préférées de Siouxsie, dommage que la qualité video soit mauvaise, merci quand meme....
I agree with you EuroAlien, its Siouxsie's body if she is happy then its her decision. Though I don't see why her Armpits should be important when she is singing so beautifully.
lol robert smith looks so cute in thissss
:') xxxxxxxx
Aw bless, you're only 24. In the 60s The Beatles had a unique sound and sense of style and fashion. We've all been young before, you know.
siouxsie is the goth queen!!!!!!!!
Right On!!!
