    The American bowie knife some say was made in Washington Co. Arkansas for Jim bowie the legend has many versions but if you Google it Arkansas is credited for being the birthplace of the bowie knife also called an Arkansas toothpick until it was changed to a double edged knife

    This thing is coming together nicely! Man the first video of this series really took off like a rocket ship didn't it! I bet that was a nice surprise! What do you think triggered the algorithm? Glad to see it happen for you! Cheers

    Most people call the edge a secondary bevel, not a primary bevel. Primary bevel is the blade grind itself, that's the main bevel from a flat piece of steel. The edge is a bevel on the primary bevel or a secondary bevel. At least that what I've heard from most people.

    • @FireCreekForge
      @FireCreekForge  Před 3 lety

      I've heard it both ways as well. The edge being the primary bevel makes sense to me in relation to how the knife is used.

    You might try getting what they call an aircraft bit I'm sure you already know of them but they're quite common they are only like 10 or 12 bucks for a 3/16 bit that long I think they're like 8 or 9 inches i actually have 4 of them myself

      I made a mental note of that too. Kinda like folding paper in half to cut out a template. Just can't fold brass in half and unfold it lol

  • @RadDadisRad
    @RadDadisRad Před 3 lety +1

    Since you used a 3/8 drill bit and the I’m assuming the knife is 3/16 thick you could use a 3/8” dowel split and sanded a total of 3/16” from the center and stack it on the side of the blade with epoxy and then press fit it into the handle.
