      Jarkko Karhunen, the Husky festival sounds a bit artificial, but the Day of Failure really exists here. However, this is a vey new festivity, so probably not every Finn has even heard about it. But we Finns are like the ancient Romans, we remember our failures and misses.

    At least one thing should mention too 'cause its quite unique in the world: Finland celebrates its 100th birthday this year. Actual day is the 6th December.
    Since 1919 President Stahlberg started this tradition inviting some notable guests to celebrate the Finnish Independence Day in the Presidential residence: like ambassadors, diplomats, bishops, generals and World War 2 veterans, parliamentarians, authors, poets, musicians, film makers, athletics, actors/actresses, business people et cetera. In the beginning the guest number was quite moderate, about 150, but nowadays it has expanded like to 1800-2000. Since 1957 the ceremony has televised and it has been very popular program at Finnish homes. In the beginning the President and his/her spouse shake hands with all the guests one by one. During the evening reporters interview the most interesting guests and - of course like in the Oscar Show! - the great attention focused on ladies dresses.

Finnish man aproves. btw I didn't really get when you said that we got 3 million saunas and 5 milkion peoples do you mean its lot or not so much. if not the answer is that many live in cities and on row/block houses, so often there is only one sauna that many peoples use on their turn. so if I would be asked around 97-98% of peoples got regular access to sauna.

    03:56 the pronounciation of Urho Kekkonen was completely off, as they all were. Finnish is a 100% phonetic language, every letter has a sound and the sound never changes - and every letter is pronounced. If you don't know how to say it, why must you include it in the video? Just say something different.
    Also: Including Pekka Haavisto as number 2 was quite insulting - as if you were trying to say his biggest achievement is being gay, not the fact he's known for his diplomatic skills and promotion of peace worldwide...

      Saatanan inisijä. Mun mielest toi lausu aika hyvin englannikieliseks. Suomi on helvetin vaikee kieli lausuu nii sitä pitää vaan onnitella niitä jotka edes yrittää. Ett sä kuule ett muut valittaa ku suomen kansalaisist varmaan 70% puhuu rallienglantii. Ole kiitollinen ett joku teki maasta videon ja edes yrittii lausua sanoja sen sijaan ett oot paskiainen sille.
      Ja se ett Haavisto on homo ON ISO ASIA. Kuten videossa sanottiin homoja politikkoja ei hirveesti ole ja Suomi on erittäin progressiivinen koska on sallinut semmoisen ja jopa tehnyt siitä aika suositun. Jos se pointti ois ollu ett Haavisto on hyvä politikko nii sillo se ois sanonu ett se on. Pointti tosin oli ett homopolitikko on erittäin progressiivista toimintaa.

    • @Aurinkohirvi
      @Aurinkohirvi Před 5 lety

      jmtikka, no, there aren't many exceptions. There is one letter combination, ng, that is said differently than written: because this is a rare sound and no separate alphabet was assigned to it.

    Hi! We are going to Salla in October. I have a few questions. How expensive are the food? What are tours/places that we must see? I don’t ski, not planning to ride a snow mobile as budget is very limited. But I am primarily going there to hopefully see the Northern Lights. What’s the weather like in October? I read on one website it’s the worst for seeing the NL? Thanks for any tips!

      And an Englishman would say that you didn't say their words quite correctly either (even though you studied it for years). It's very hard to get rid of your native pronounciation when saying foreign words.
      But I do agree they could have done better, if really put effort in it.
