it's really disrespectful that a video with exclusive educational content is being age restricted especially for the Finnish people. This channel is very helpful for young people to find an alternative way to learn some basic staff about a country. We will support you geography now !!!
I'll bet my bottom dollar that the reason for age restriction is due to the portrayal of Russia as an aggressor in a past conflict. Putin shills be crying rn
You-Tube apparently wants to protect minors from learning more about Finland. Don't ask me why.

I can't believe this got Age-Restricted. The main reasons are probably because you talked about wars with Russia since tensions between the two are high right now and also because of the Russian guy that died in a sauna competition.
Yeah, I'm also thinking about that sauna competition with a photo. You need to ask directly about that. It's ridiculous this was age-restricted.
Nothing wrong with it. It is an Educational Video. No reason to age restrict it.

why dutch people are so annoying in the internet, so many of them acting like special snowflakes
Solaxe S because, idiot, we're a small country so we just enjoy seeing fellow dutchmen in a sea of 'the rest of the world'. I wish people making Finland fact/opinion/experience videos would mention why sauna is such a big thing for Finns, not just mention we like to sit in a warm room. During yestesyears sauna was where you where born, cleaned, healed (preferably with tar and booze), and final rited'eded. Sauna is strongly linked to folk lore and religion and therefor even considered as a sacred place.
Sacred place to get drunk and cuss a lot. Lol.

Btw Räme, neva, letto etc are not synonyms for swamp. they are just names given to the types of swamps, for example räme has alot trees, and neva has no trees, and palsa has ice beaneath it that never melts. The more you know ;)
that´s why russian river is called Neva :)
St. Petersburg is situated on this river and was actually built on swamp
Palsa is metal af

It's no longer age restricted! :D
Finland didn't gain it's independence from Soviets, but Imperial Russia. Soviet Union didn't even exist for another half a decade when Finland got rid of Russian rule. Also there is no "post-soviet" architecture in Finland as it was never Soviet.
Thats why the architecture is post soviet influenced
How can it be post-soviet if it was never Soviet in the first place? I'm also not sure what you mean by "post Soviet influenced", Since the architecture that is often ridiculed as looking "Soviet" (Plattenbau, brutalism, functionalism) became a trend in Western Europe in 1950's-1970's when Soviet union was still very much alive.
Finland did get its independence from Lenin and the soviets.
Soviet Union was born in 1922, Finland declared independence in 1917. Lenin who later became the leader of Soviet union did accept the declaration few months later, but he obviously didn't use a time machine. The last Russian ruler of Finland still was Czar Nikolai II. Imperial Russian army was still in Finland at the time of independence and even in Russia, their socialist constitution wasn't ready until the next year, when Finland had already left.
And of course "soviet" in Russian just means a council, which has been used for at least over a hundred years before 1922, and still is in today's Russia, but "the Soviets" in English commonly refers to Soviet Union.
Thats correct, but the russian soviet federation (not the same as ussr) was formed in the october revolution of 1917. So you could say Finland was part of them for a couple of months before they recognized us on 31.12. Also Imperial Russia died already in the february revolution when the russian republic was formed, which Finland was officially part of. On the ruler I'd generally agree, but one could argue it would be the russian Duma (Kerensky) or the general assembly (Lenin). In the end the fact is our independence was not gained from the Tsar or Imperial Russia, although the situation at the time was a bit messy to say the least.

I just returned from a week in Finnish Lapland, a very enjoyable experience. Heartily recommend it as a holiday destination.
Where in Lapland were you?
I was on and around Iso Syöte, a southern fell in south of Finnish Lapland. Very scenic and with the hotel on top of the fell.
Chaotic Entropy Ah yeah, I know Iso-Syöte, I've been there myself too. And yeah, it's nice indeed, but technically it's actually not even in Lapland, it's just south of the Lapland border, although of course scenery wise that doesn't make a difference.
Rauta Arska Ah so it is, fair enough. It was very enjoyable either way, absolutely lovely area especially from on top of the fell.
Did my first bit of snowmobiling, husky sledding and ice hole fishing.
Chaotic Entropy Yes, also the hotel restaurant was excellent in my opinion. Where are you from if I may ask?
Another day, another time people don't mention that the "Swedes" living in Finland are actually native Finns that have Swedish as their native language and definitely identify as Finnish, not Swedish. This is because Finland has TWO official languages: Finnish, and Swedish.
I know a few people that don't identify as Finnish, rather as Fennoswedes, a mix of the two. They only speak Swedish though, and very limited Finnish.
@@Wextraa Hi hello I am one of them bois!
I do identify as Finnish though, as a nationality. But I definitely am terrible at Finnish haha.
@@moonmakes Haha yeah, that's understandable. If I moved to the US for example I would surely identify as an American after a while. I do have a great interest in Sweden and Swedish culture though, so it's always nice to see the Swedish culture alive and well in other countries as well
@@Wextraa ah cool!
I'm an ethnologist at uni, so I'm also very much into talking about culture and how the Swedish speaking Finns have developed separately from the Swedes.
Even within the population of Swedish speaking Finns (200 000 people) there are some big cultural differences! And most towns (populations of 200 - 10 000 or so) have their own unique dialect of Swedish that almost makes it a whole different language. I know that my dialect is entirely gibberish to Swedes haha
@@moonmakes Oh yes, I am very well aware of that. I have some Fennoswedish friends in and aroudn Vasa who I play games with from time to time, and while none of them barely know any Finnish, their Swedish is also really gibberish because of their dialect. If you know the humor group KAJ, that's basically the way they speak. I think it's quite nice though! Also if you want, we could hold this conversation in Swedish :p

Correction! 6 percent of the population is NOT Swedish. They speak Swedish, but are Finnish. In the same way as French speakers in Canada are not French, but Canadian. As a member of the Swedish-speaking minority of Finland, this is one of the most common misconceptions I deal with. Swedish-speaking Finns have lived in Finland for over one thousand years and are no less Finnish than Finnish-speaking Finns. It is a linguistic minority, not an ethnic or national minority. See more: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swedish-speaking_population_of_Finland
you're fun at parties
Now I'm glad that I searched the comment section before making that connection myself - you did it way better than I could have.
Finland and Sweden was the same nation for over 600 years. Only 200 years Finland and Sweden is two nations. In my eyes the Finns and the swedes are brothers and sisters.
loch70 Swedes are actually the genetically closest people to the Finns, which is understandable since we were a single nation that got split in two.
They are Finnish because they live in Finland, but they are ethnically Swedish
Why age restriction
The ethnicity part is a little wrong. 5% of the population speak Swedish as their first language but they're still ethnic Finns

Epic mindf*ck time, Finnish style:
”Vihdoin vihdoin vihdoin.” is actually a completely legitimate sentence in Finnish, meaning: ”At last I whipped myself with a birch whisk.”; and with our free word order, any of the words: ”vihdoin” can have any of the meanings in that sentence: ”at last”/”finally”,
”I whipped myself”, or ”with a birch whisk”, exhibiting something I like to call: ”super-symmetry”, having multiple homonymous words with the same potential meanings. :-P
Also, in the vein of strange animal names, an old Finnish word for ”lion” was ”jalopeura”, literally meaning: ”noble deer”.
I'm just so impressed how much ground-work there's been done in order to make this video. The facts are incredibly correct and accurate for being put together by a non-Finn! Incredible these days. Congrats mate!

These days? Practically all the information in the WORLD is at your fingertips these days. lol. How is it incredible to put together with such a magnificent tool?
@@MultiJejje Yks virhe Ahvenanmaan liittyen :D Aika pienestä menee sullaki
@@MultiJejje saman huomasin, thumbs down. Stereotypioita ja asiavirheitä täynnä. Videona tällanen hyvänmielen hassuttelu generalisaatio.

Honestly i think the finnish _summer_ is one of the most beautiful things u can see, no matter if they all endorse the winter and "nightless nights." While in the summer the sun in southern parts _does_ go below the horizon but only for a few degrees and so usually the temperature in the few warmest months is okay throughout the nights and u could basically spend as much time outdoors as you feel like it.
Another thing is the finnish mentality which is pretty much that every single bar terrace is filled and every park has people in them enjoying the usually warm & sunny July-June period, and it is nationwide built into the culture that most people from worker to businessman keep their yearly holidays at that time too. It's like everything in this country is built for that time period. :) Summer in Finland with its thousands of lakes, probably millions of summer cottages, and the most beautiful nature I've ever seen is a sight to behold.
wow sounds worth visiting then
I would not be the person I am today if not for Finnish metal bands. The first metal band I ever listened to is Nightwish (which comes from Finland), and I have been listening to all kinds of different metal subgenres ever since, with lots of Finnish bands being among my favorite across many subgenres (most recently got into melodic death metal, with lots of Finnish bands being among my top bands).
Thank you for making my life (especially my teenage years) so much better, Finland!
I wish to visit this wonderful country someday and experience its beautiful culture for myself.
Much love from Jordan 🇯🇴 ❤ 🇫🇮
This was age restricted for some reason youtube come on
Love Finland! From Croatia
Danijel Smolčić Your country is beautiful :)
Love Finland too! From Croatia too
Finest FIN Thanks😉
Thanks, Croatia is an awesome country! :))
And we love Hrvatska!
when Stalin purges all your good officers and you invade Finland but you lose and it officially becomes the most embarrassing moment of your history
George Ushakov the winter war
Workers CCCP yeah I know
Both sides kind of lost.
George Ushakov cough, cough, Napoleon vs. Portugal.
The USSR never lost the winter war. It annexed the territories it needed but suffered terrible casualties.

I appreciate when you give us warnings about what to call and what not to call, these countries, the areas they’re in and etc
Oh my god! It's so wonderful as a finn to hear an outsider discribe my country so well! Although not completely accurate, it shows you have had good resources with you. It makes me happy and proud to be a finn when u so adoringly tell about us. I have to watch the other countries. Great video!!
How is it not completely acurate?
@@TheEGames for example, we dont have many different words for swamp, räme, neva, letto, luhta are different types of swamps, and the other words he said were nonsense or meant something completely different
@@tuurehu3392 No, they were not nonsense. Also jänkä (he said it but didn't write), aapa, korpi, lähteikkö and palsa mean swamp or a certain swamp type. I know this because I've been stuck in all of those.
@Mousebord 125 The only nonsense word I heard was ”Miukku”, and that was an honest mistake. Would make for a great cat name, though 😸.
Suomi perkele, Mä on suomenruottalainen ja puhun aika ok suomea. RAKASTAN MUN MAA!!!
I used to live 5 years in Finland, it was the most amazing time in my life. The kind and wonderful finnish people, the pure and beautiful nature.. Finland does touch your soul and I can't wait to visit again. ❤
I lived in Finland also, what drugs are you on? I'm glad to be gone from that place. I wouldn't recommend anybody to go there.
Whats so bad about it?
ChaosmakerTV Where do I start? Cold, ice covered roads and footpaths, snow, darkness, shitty limited cuisine, everything is extremely over priced, taxes are waayy too high, 40€ for a mens haircut lol, apartment life.. I could keep going. Glad to be back in Australia :)
KR00K3R_85 australia is bad place and very dangerous bugs and too hot
Lol... ok.
8:24 Yup, totally describes personality of Kimi Raikkonen
greetings to Finland from Iran! much respect to finnish people, culture and history .
Lol Finland even won Eurovison with a metal song
Yeah, though it sad that Lordi died years ago, it was pretty good band at my opinion. :(
Lordi hasn't died nor his band!
lol I was addicted to that song as a kid.
Yeah, as a Finn I wouldn't call that metal or even music.
Fun fact: Savonlinna is a city in Finland. Olavinlinna is the actual castle that is located in Savonlinna
And the most famous Turun linna missed.
Turunlinna on vaa yks iso kirkko jossa on korkeet seinät ja turha tykkitorni
