    This little car is what a sports car is all about. Forget the cars that are 2 tons and get around a corner because it has meter wide tires at all corners. Usable limits and a playful chassis are the name of the game

      @@aviator-kn8zq I think it's the visual editing that polarises opinion. That TG chop-socky editing AKA 'late Jason Bourne movie' cut- shot technique gets right on peoples nerves after a while. Monkey Harris is one of the few reviewers who don't need that trendy camera work to make the car seem dynamic.

    • @jamesshives5679
      @jamesshives5679 Před 5 lety +10

      Wayne Simpson That is certainly part of it in the choc vs tg debate, but I think the biggest issue with tg is the scripted (as the op said, "forced"), and dare I say childish enthusiasm, which feels like it discredits whatever the reviewer says until he gets serious. This got much better towards the middle-end when Chris Harris was much more himself, but at the beginning is a perfect demonstration of what I'm talking about. They are trying to keep the old top gear style, but it just doesn't work without the original three. The presenters seem to be forced (or encouraged, if you prefer) to be like someone other than themselves and the result is, as you would expect, not very genuine.

      Couldn't agree more! The Chris Harris drives are the best car reviews I've seen. Top Gear needs to stop trying hard to be like the old Clarkson format - they made it too over the top and silly. Pegging it back a bit and taking a different approach are needed.

    • @Cuahchic
      @Cuahchic Před 5 lety +5

      @@NikoBased I would respectfully disagree. Top Gear made its money from Clarkson's silly over the top presenting style and to be honest the programme was less about cars and more a lads banter thing between him and the other two presenters.
      Since that ended so acrimoniously this is an excellent opportunity to refresh the format. The new presenters don't have the chemistry of Clarkson et al and Chris Harris already has a huge following as a serious motoring journalist, so it feels like a missed opportunity to not allow him to do car reviews in the style he's been doing for several years now.

      And it is still a soft top convertible with manual and a NA engine that is great when it comes to running at the limit! A110 is great since it is hard top and it is so rare plus the horsepower, but in my country, there is not much use cuz we have so much mountain roads and speed limits of 30-50kph.

    What's the point of liking only "the best cars" ? Of course there's objectively "the best car", in terms of current price range and performances, putting aside the esthetic part, which is subjective. What would be the point of having any other cars then ? No one cares if you find the A110 ugly, or "not-too-performant, or "there's better cars for this price", that's bringing nothing productive but only your personal opinion.
    This car is absolutely brilliant and stunning in terms of design. Maybe the cheap and wobbly plastic in the interior puts the doubts on the price, but still, I think that's a great car.

      @@spolo123 When driving both on track, the big difference for me was just slightly better overall composure in the S. The standard car felt a little too soft at times (to me) and the S is still really quite good on b roads (a little jiggly, but the Sabelt seats are so comfy you hardly mind!) The S just had slightly more poke at the top end, allowing one to ring it out more which is rewarding (I actually think the chassis is so good it would be nice for yet more power, say 320bhp for example.) I honestly didn't miss the manual either just because the engine and gearbox work so well together. That said, I think if this were my only sports car, I would miss the third pedal and gearstick for sure! Also the DCT encourages one to drive at quite a brisk pace and this could be seen as a downside. But the lack of manual does allow the driver to focus purely on the driving, and the car obviously does this very, very well (in both standard and S form.)
