Barnetby Station on 14th April 1989
Continuing with my archive of video recording between the years of 1986 to 2001 this clip is of Barnetby taken on 14/04/1989. This was always a busy and interesting location and always meant a variety of traction would be seen on MGR traffic and Oil. I hope the video takes you back to this period with fond memories. Feel free to comment, good or bad, all comments are read and greatly appreciated, but it is not always possible to answer each individually. Sit back and enjoy this latest production remembering all those now long gone Locomotive classes and other types of traction. Many thanks for all subscriptions and all of those viewers who have kindly shown an interest in my material.

My first visit was around 2013. The sunsets over the semaphores were a legendary sight. I only ever saw 60/66 and a 70 there.

interesting video, it underlines the steep decline in freight traffic in this country

Another excellent video squire. It's just another nostalgia fest for me. My very first there was the early 80s. I was with a friend and his Dad, bottles of pop and chopped pork sarnies for bait. As I got older my friends and I usually went at least once a year. Donny, Barnetby and Knottingley in one day was considered, up there on our railway calendar. Happy Days indeed. The 47 with the white roof and black dominoes, would've set the pulse rates up a notch. Us being from the North East, the Stratford 47s were not uncommon but not as frequent as we'd have liked either. The NB ones especially, they were usually highly sought after among us, partly due to them usually being cops in the platform 5s and as a 47 fan, any 47 with a white roof and dominoes is considered Beastly in my eyes.Thank you again for sharing. Much appreciated.

Nah, it's got to be a 'Split box 37' beats an old 'Duff' anyday . Lol.
Happy days back then, great choice of loco's. Oh how we were spoilt. Even an old 'Rat 24' gets the pulse going these days , not to mention the long lost 44, 52, and the Deltics.
      All the best mate 👍👍😀

@@ianjones4116 love a 37 too, especially with either dominoes, be it split box or central headbox. Locos just looked better. Only seen 24s, 44s and Westerns in preservation.

47 222 my last square, eluded me for years that one despite numerous trips to the Immingham & Scunthorpe area. Finally ended up seeing it right on my doorstep down South (again and again and again) when it seemed to end up operating WR freight trips (despite fleet history still showing as IM based). Luckily it was still blue with it's name plates before being two tone greyed and losing the plates in the 90's.

I spent many a happy hour at Barnetby. I wish I'd found it earlier, but it was still thrilling in the early 1990s

Station staff had sealed up all the waiting rooms in 1992, so on wet days spotting there wasn't much shelter.
