I really think this task is a perfect microcosm of series 5.
-Bob Mortimer demonstrates a creative and absurd talent, one which he's learned under dubious circumstances for reasons known only to God himself.
-Mark Watson approaches the task with intellect and good intentions, but fails miserably during the execution process.
-Aisling Bea begins with some semblance of a plan, before descending into whimsical shambles almost immediately.
-Sally Phillips exposes herself as a raunchy, salacious madwoman who should be supervised at all times for the safety of the general public.
-And Nish Kumar genuinely does his best, but is still really, totally, utterly, completely, unbelievably shite.
Absolutely mad all around, and good times were had by all. Peak Taskmaster.
This is why series five is probably my favourite season. I love all of them, but this one is just incredible.

Series 7 is close second in this regard.
Season 7. It had Rhod Gilbert legitimately endangering Alex's life and making Alex strip on multiple occasions, Phil Wang living up to his name in the most graphic way possible, James Acaster behaving for all the world like he just dropped in from Alpha Centauri, Jessica Knapett going full air horn, and Kerry Godliman somehow being the most sane one of the entire bunch. Most seasons have one or two psychos, but season 7 somehow had nine of them.
Seconding Seven, but damn I do love this season too.

I have watched too much WILTY. Bob said he «recently» learned to peel off egg shells in one go, but on WILTY he stated that the peeling trick is what «he used to do to entertain», and he «still could do it».
Bob is either living in two different time lines at once, and since it’s Bob I’m not willing to reject that possibility, or he completely forgot the peeling trick and is learning it again.

I wish Bea had more movies. She’s quite the scene stealer when she’s onscreen.
I did an experiment to see what makes hardboiled eggs easier to peel, bringing the water to a boil before putting the eggs in, and dunking the egg in icewater afterwards. I tried them individually and together, and preboiling the water was the only thing that made it easier to peel (also, it gives you a more reliable cooking time).
My mom always has cold water that keeps getting replaced when we boil eggs. Also break one side then the other and blow into it
Are you starting with cold or room temp eggs?
The age of the egg is the most important part. Freshly laid eggs peel extremely hard, an egg laid a few weeks ago peels extremely easy
The ice bit afterwards is a really important step. It causes the egg white itself to contract away from the shell. Thus, you'll get a better peel.
@@cristobalgarces1675 In my experiments, ice bath made no difference. I tested both variables (ice bath afterwards and bringing the water to boil first) independently, and only preboiling made a difference.

Wait, so if they had five months worth of info tracking the water cooler then that means they filmed the task five months before they all got together in the studio to do the points. There's no way that task was done over five months previously.
It takes a long time to pour through hours and hours of footage with all five contestants doing the tasks, deciding what to keep, what to drop, and puting it together in a way that is entertaining. Five months is not that long.
what Benjamin said. also shows like this are shows on ACTUAL television which means they need to have predetermined timeslots, ie. the entirety of the season needs to be prefilmed and edited and ready to go before they can show it on a weekly basis in 1 hour or 2 hour or however-long timeslots while making time for commercial breaks and whatnot
