- With Destiny 2's Season of the Deep's release, Chromatic Fire received a rework bringing the exotic warlock chest piece in line with other exotics, allowing it to play off the different subclass verbs. We had to go and test everything that synergizes with the new Chromatic Fire, and while we were testing we even discovered a hidden nerf.

If you are running arc I HIGHLY recommend Spark of Brilliance. Killing one of the blinded enemies will cause a chain lighting explosion. Clears out mobs.
The Arc blind is EXACTLY what I wanted and now I have an easy way to proc it in PVE and PVP. Blind is unironically my favorite verb XD

I'm glad the PvP changes were finally talked about. I wasn't able to bring together any clear proof of the changes but I'm glad they exist here.
I feel the only reason for the pvp nerf was because of the radius increase they had put in not saying thats a good idea but prolly why

Chromatic Fire with Ace of Spades was always one of my favorite combos. Double explosions on crit kills, warmind cell spawning like a mad man. It was a glorious time and it continues today

Nice to hear you go through this. I was wondering why the explosions felt so much worse, despite it saying it's a buff across the board. My 2 main exotics were this and verity's brow. Verity hasn't been working in PvP for some time now and isn't being talked about at all...now this with chromatic.
And I'm still salty that they removed the damage buff from accelerated chaos on your grenades. Warlocks are just constantly taking L's that are going unnoticed
I mean if cloud strike is going to exist as it currently does in PvP where you get punished by being near a teammate then chromatic fire has 0 business getting a nerf.
Agreed. And its far easier to quickly peak out and get a headshot with a sniper, than it is to kill someone with a primary, with multiple people shooting your way

@@ZGamingGuy Chromatic Fire specifies Damage Type, not Ammo Type. It's any Kinetic, meaning Kinetic Snipers and Shotguns can do it as well.
As a warlock main who would constantly use Chromatic Fire both in PvE and PvP before and after the buff I am glad it’s finally getting the attention it deserves.

@@AA-xj6ho to me anyway, it’s a very cool and satisfying exotic. I love the explosions and in PvP idk why but in my games people love to stick together so getting those sweet multi kills were just 😩
props to for using it before my boy cuz it was the most MID exotic ever but there’s always somewhere out there using an exotic… even blight ranger is being used by some blueberry out there😭😭😭😭
I love the changes they made to chromatic in pve but I think that the blast radius still needs to be a bit bigger. Going with solar incandescent feels a lot better and overall more consistent.
Haven't played this game in abit, but I wanted to try this with Bad Juju to see if any kills from Chromatic would count as Bad Juju kills, and give more super energy.
Also I thought the idea using Chromatic Fire as a way to add another buffed perk (dragonfly-ish in functionality) to Bad Juju's list of buffed perks (Rampage, Subsistence, Thresh) was kind of funny/interesting.
Edit: just tried it, it doesn't add stacks to bad juju sadge. I'll just use the weakening effect in higher tier content tho to prime enemies

Tip for people running strand+chromatic, consume your shackle grenade, then prime the first target with your melee before killing with the headshot
You'll get all 3 strand debuffs spreading to targets as long as you're getting the occasional headshot kill on them
Seeing you mention Ace with this exotic just fills me with joy.
Chrome and Crimson is soooo good, headshots get you the explosions, mag reload and health back.

If you pull the quicksliver storm from collections it is kinetic without the catalyst applied which works well in this setup as well. Kinetic tremors also seems to cause some weird behaviour with this exoctic at times which can be fun also
I just think that, qss's mini rocket kills more than the bullet itself....making the Chromatic a bit pointless
@@hw811gaming6 not applying the catalyst to the weapon and leaving it as kinetic gives the weapon a slight weapon damage bump. If you run stasis you can also get the 40% primary weapons buff for frozen targets from the fragment. Wishender and Chromatic void weaken is probably the stongest loadout with this exotic i've tried. Ace of Spade / Firefly weapons let you apply your subclass verb and firefly. Its ok with Hawkmoon and osteo striga (I was looking for weapons in the kinetic slot that have a effect and then I could patch on the chromatic effect also). It is kinda meh though but I enjoyed messing with it. We need more exotics that add to kinetic game play I think.
I ran the exotic for the first time ever in pvp, the first run of Iron Banner this season. Used void and outbreak perfected. Had no idea the explosion damage was nerfed ironically. The explosion, weaken, and nanites almost always netted me one additional kill with some times getting me up three additional if they were all holding hands. Can only imagine what it would have been like with the explosion not nerfed.
Rlly sad css jade rabbit and chromatic was my go to pvp loadout now I don't have my makeshift clouds trike any more

I just made a build with this but used Osteo Striga instead and I love it. The auto-track to head is very fun to use.
The chromatic Outbreak (thats what i call it) setup on a void or strand class jas been my favorite though i do need to play around with it some more
I can see this being useful in legend lost sectors with champs that are next to say a psion/thrall enemy with the strand class

If this could also apply the same status effects on a single enemy upon sustained fire I think I would use this. Imagine a team of warlocks using outbreak, one void to weaken a boss, a couple solar to scorch it, a couple stasis to shatter it etc etc.
Might need to try it again now. Got a Randy's with kinetic tremors.
Unfortunately it still feels like it's doing what osteo striga and necrotic grips do but still not as good.
If firefly went off 2nd, ace of spades plus a void subclass would've been nuts.
It needs a good ornament though and wouldn't it have been insane if the void effect was volatile instead of weaken

I set up a Touch of Malice build which is pretty fun. Devour keeps you alive and weakening makes it easier to get those kills. Also the artifact mods that get you overshields works nicely.

Thank you for your latest videos on the Warlocks, I'm a long time viewer and this is my second comment. Destiny truly the game I love to hate, however you have given D2 new life for me I'm now playing the Warlock and loving it, especially the Arc. Have a good one. Peace.
I have a Cold Comfort with Volatile Launch, Impact Casting, Envious Assassin, and Bait and Switch. I've made a Mantle of Battle Harmony Stasis Build with Ager's Scepter and Cold Comfort. I really want to see the damage this could do to a boss.
Fatebringer with Firefly, post the new Hand Cannon buff and paired with Chromatic is gonna be very fun.
I'm happy Chromatic finally works with darkness subclasses.

I really enjoy using my Hung Jury with firefly/shoot to loot with this because the explosion just picks up any orb/brick that drops lol

Felwinter already weakens targets. Severance however needs a major overhaul like hunters legs did.

tbh i wish there were more neutral game exotics for all classes i love spamming abilities a lot, but sometime i just want to chill and shoot and exotics that synergize with weapons would be nice. i know they mention something regarding this in a twab before i just hope in comes fast.

4 years ago outbreak and chromi was my go to build for warlock build for low tier stuff looks like its time to dust it off and try it with strand

Very fun option. been loving wishender with arc in the light blade gm. I Just wish blind would do strand or stasis level of stun to champs, as far as any non-boss enemy goes they're 'chopping onions'

I can see this exotic being amazing with a scout and kinetic tremors should be able to pop off Kinect tremors before killing the enemy and then applying weaken or sever on nearby targets while tremors go off

Though everytime I see scorch mentioned in anything, I always think "Bungie, please give us an aspect/fragment/exotic that lets warlocks get the solar chaining back by having scorched targets ignite on death"

The best combo I found was just void and outbreak so all the seekers get buffed by the weaken blast.

What they need is a new exotic weapon that has this more or less built in, but with jolt, volatility, suspend, incandescent etc on kills.
what about using chromatic fire with osteo? isn't it useful too to debuff enemies with both the poison and the status effect?
So the problem I found when trying that combo is that Striga's DoT most of the time kills before you can get a precision kill. Also since Striga is a tracking weapon, getting precision kills in general is tougher. It's not like you cant use the combo, you just won't get nearly as much out of it as the other weapons mentioned in this video.
