    Vesper of Radius section (0:17 - 4:08) gets my seal of approval 👍
    I think tuning the Vesper rift for more frequent pulses but lowering the damage would be a great change, allowing you to play more into Vesper's aggressive, proactive playstyle.

Keeping most of the damage and being able to run orbs generate HP or ability energy is honestly really massive for something like modern dungeons where theres a lot of adds constantly, and not a lot of time to hunker down and regen HP. Solar has healing, void has devour, but the rest need *something* to keep them going.

    1 thing about vesper of radius. the explosion AND the pulse will blind when on arc, bungie only said the explosion would in the original article but i guess they changed there mind in the actual update.
    also with chromatic fire, the slow effect will also apply disrupted to any target which is slowed (This is due to slow being an anti overload effect which requires disrupted to work). Disrupted itself makes things deal 25% less damage so in a way Sever (which is only 33%) is kinda useless compared to Slow

    Starfire has joined the million other exotic centered builds of add clear. It would have been nice if the nade energy gains per hit were slightly higher but whatever. Trying to get empowered weapon kills in more difficult content with primary weapons is not the easiest thing in world so you have to save your nades for either giant groups or high priority target, which other builds can do easier or certain weapons can do faster.
    Chromatic Fire change is neat but doesn't really make a big difference in a lot of areas. Using it with Ace is fun but the elemental explosion happens after the Firefly explosion which took some getting used to. I would kill an add then shoot the weakened one beside it but the elemental explosion would happen after both were dead.
    Haven't really played with the Vesper changes but Rift spam really isn't my play style so I doubt I will use it.
    Mantle is an exotic. Yep. I used it a bit with Arc 3.0 before I got Fallen Sunstar and didn't feel like using Crown of Tempest and it was okay but that was back in Season of Plunder.
    And Sanguine Alchemy continues to be an amazing looking exotic with an underwhelming effect.

      I personally think they should somewhat undo a nerf the exotic got from Solar 3.0 now, being:
      You used to be able to run middle tree Dawnblade with it for its Empowering Melee ability. I think they should make it so the on-hit regen also procs from hits whilst you are radiant (unsure about the on-kill regen though).

      Fusion grenades have a ridiculously short cooldown and things like bomber and firesprites exist. Any add kill with a grenade gives me half that nade back. Just because its not a legitimate solo dps strat, does NOT mean its bad.

    • @Locus-1
      @Locus-1 Před rokem +1

      @@mutantraze3681 it's not that it's bad, it's that I lost its identity as the premier dps strategy and its new identity is another add clear/burst damage option. I would have preferred it receive an identity that made it stand out more than just being a pretty good way of generating grenade energy. Void, Arc, and Strand can have constant uptime with grenades as well and the Sunbracer build let's you spam AOE damage if you get off a melee kill.
      Fusion grenades, especially with Touch of Flame, are really good don't get me wrong, but Starfire was a neutral game grenade spam exotic with a powerful dps use. Now it's just a build for Discipline, use Bomber and Innervation mods, stand in a rift, get kills and throw a grenade if both are charged - type exotic.

Yes, they can be fun in specific scenarios, but they largely feel forgettable and uninspired. Not everything needs to be "meta" but it would be nice for some of these exotics to offer more then a brief dusting off period because their functionality is new. We need more exotics with positive and fun gameplay loops - not something than helps us excel slightly more at clearing trash mobs at a time when we have insane weapons and abilities for clearing said mobs.

    Like you mentioned Datto, Sunbracers can be BRUTAL and so punishing in endgame content if one of the engines that need it to drive suddenly runs out especially with the whole phoenix dive restoration loop, I did however make a build with Sanguine that is WAY easier to keep going and is so much easier to setup. Throw on Sanguine with a Scorching weapon (I found Skyburners works the best) and with Ember of Singeing not only will you get back rifts constantly but you'll also be dishing out more damage thanks to the inherent damage bonus. Yes it's way more passive but in GM level content you're doing that anyway and you're way safer thanks to the higher healing rift uptime

    Starfire imo, is still really powerful. The change just brought it more inline with the likes of sunbracers for its activation (especially in highend). Yes its easier to get kills in high end rather than a melee kill but you trade the power of sun for the consistency of star, still going to be rocking it and have been rocking it in gms raids and other activities

  • @randommixedletters
    @randommixedletters Před rokem +1

    I know I've been whelmed with most of the changes, they haven't really done much/made any of the exotics super usable to me. Gatting a collective 4% damage bonus on a hot swap combo specifically just seems like way to much effort to me verses just using a neutral game exotic and doing infinitely better (in reference to Sanguine), and the rest either got just worse (i.e mantle) or didn't change enough to feel effective in anything outside of the content they already exist in. Though the comments about Vesper do have me thinking of what might be fun to do with them, might be entertaining to use the uppercut melee with them.
    But yeah, as for starfire, only main thing I've learned with them is to utilize the rift refund effect religiously. With warlocks, bomber/outreach gives 20% instead of 10% to their respective abilities, so if you couple that with 2 grenade kick starts and searing for the ability to go grab a firesprite, you get around 50-60% of your grenade every grenade kill, allowing you to cycle the grenades pretty handley due to their low cooldown in general as well. It feels pretty good, not as safe as sunbracers, but in GM content it will do you better/actually kill stuff a lot more, so I feel it's still worth holding onto. You can just flat out ignore empowerment rift if you want to as well and just run off of constantly regeneratable healing rifts, but you lose the affordance of being able to get a few kills to get your grenade back. You still always have the well though, so it's up to preference.

    The problem with the robe buffs is that they're just not worth running over what's already good for Warlocks.
    Why would I run any of them when sunbracers are a thing? Fallen Sunstar? Osmios? Necro strand? Contraverse Holds? Verity's? The list goes on.
    As for Starfire, I get why it was nerfed, but I do wish there was an exotic out there that changed the way Warlocks interact with Well. At least with Starfire we had to swap guns and alternate between a grenade toss and a demo rocket. Now we're back to "plop down well, mindlessly hold down trigger."
    I don't even care if it's less damage, I just want something that requires even a tiny bit of thought.

    I don't know if its a bug or otherwise, but with Aztecross doing some testing, Sanguine was stacking with Radiant and Well with some of his damage. Whether its a glitch or not, it seems to work very well for doing a good portion of bonus damage more so than anything else if I'm not misremembering. That makes it much better than just a bonus for double stacking in elemental bonuses.
    Now whether that's a bug, or an intended feature, only time will tell. Because that means the difference between it being a good mainstay to boost damage or a temporary thing about to get nuked to the ground as always.

Now you can once again get an instakill with an aggressive frame sniper bodyshot, a oneshot with a Monarque headshot (please don't, guys lol) or two tap with a 120 Hand Cannon. Absolutely loving the playstyle of getting the first two-tap with my round robin for "free" and then running around with kill clip for the following ones, that's why I used to enjoy pre-nerf empowering rifts, there's so much snowballing potential with a lot of weapons which allows a really aggressive playstyle without much downtime on the setup.

      @@samvimes9510 heat rises is a big puzzle piece there; its melee regen makes the whole ability loop way more resilient, to the point where you can jump and fire Forbearance once (or whatever) and you have your melee back to try it again. You do have to be cognizant of how tanky the enemies are, so that you don't accidentally just power melee a thing that won't die to it (bring an SMG or trace or similar to soften them up if needed), and you definitely want to have a handle on where things spawn, AND there's a tight window to gain Restoration if you're going for extending that off Phoenix Dive.
      But when you do get a handle on managing the many moving parts, you are rewarded with overwhelming add clear (and I get that every build says it has incredible add clear, but this is above and beyond, throwing grenades at different parts of the map as fast as the animation allows you to), permanent restoration, and a ton of super regen (via Ashes to Assets and Firepower mods) into the best PVE super in the game. You can also reasonably make a choice between Touch of Flame ("kill everything and win") versus Icarus Dash ("move fast, don't die") depending on what kind of content you're doing or just plain playstyle preference.
      But yeah, "missing the melee kill ruins the playstyle" would be very true if not for Heat Rises.

      @Neuloo Před rokem +1

      @@samvimes9510 the ignition tech is why it's useful in high end content, basically an ignition will consider its source as anything that inflicted the first scorch stacks, so if you for example use incinerators snap then throw your grenade, this will cause an ignition whose source is a melee therefore proccing sunbracers even if you dont kill the beefy target but rather ads near it
      another person said there's a tight window to get x2 resto, no its not tight, you eat your heat rises grenade, use your melee, then dive. the kill will extend it to 6+ seconds and even more if the ignition also killed a couple enemies. but i do agree you have to be aware of how tough the enemies are, however thats usually not an issue, not even in contest mode activities
