But that is the only way this charge makes sense, is if Trump would have been OK with his POS actions being public if it wasnt for the election. It seems like she was somehow damaged in her short time working in the law profession because that’s what you do as an attorney, you craft arguments to litigate for the side of the people who are paying you to speak on their behalf. Her laughter makes attorneys uncomfortable though because it discredits what they do.

    How bri will call Hunter's pay for play scheme a nothing burger and at the same time buy into the merits of this case with witnesses that have proclaimed their hate for the defendant and might do or say whatever they can to procure the desired outcome and it doesn't come of suspicious to her that these multiple cases around the country are so petty yet put forward to keep actual democracy from happening is bewildering. More so the fact that this is the worst they can find on the guy is incredible.

      The extra 290K was to cover taxes and lying to Congress about the Russia Moscow Trump Tower, to cover Individual 1’s lie that he had no business ties in Russia. Cohen went to prison for lying to Congress for his boss, DJT.

    buying and killing a story doesn’t make it true. Until last week, NDAs were a thing. it’s normal to pay people off and order them to keep even the payoff quiet when they’re blackmailing you to keep other extortionist from getting in line for a payout, even when didn’t do what they say you did. You’d rather pay your extortionist 20% of what you would pay your attorney to litigate and without any of the reputational damage. salacious lies tend to stick.

Take Trump as example no need for trial and it is his pardon to prove that he is innocent, but if it is Hunter or Joe Biden they are innocent till proven guilty. I heard a lawyer explain it as they would have to prove that he made the payment for the sole reason, to the exclusion of all other reasons like embarrassment or hoping your wife didn't find out reputational impacts to business, etc - for exclusively an election related reason.

    Come on Bri. You're misrepresenting the fragile case. Campaign funds were not used. Personal funds were. They're saying that legally he should have used campaign funds to pay (reimburse) his lawyer working on his campaign. And the funds should have been recorded as such. But the catch his, if he did that, they'd say he used campaign funds for personal use. And with such a case he'd be convicted by now. Not defending his decisions, morally I'm against it. But I am questioning the premise if this case.

    Yup: He lied to Congress and not, as some Republicans alleged, lied in court... and the Prosecutor not only said that at the beginning of his testimony, but provided secondary evidence and context to back up Cohen's testimony. Nobody was relying only on Cohen's testimony.

When Cohen refused to back down, he threatened Cohen by telling him that they would go after his wife, too, which forced him to sign things that he didn't want to sign. After being released early during COVID, Trump had Barr remand Cohen and put him into solitary confinement making Cohen a political prisoner.
