Mr A: The runner must carry the baton by hand, if it is dropped, it can be picked up. Also Mr. A: If the baton is dropped in the middle of the race, the team is disqualified.
My teammate dropped as he tried to pass it to me and it went into another lane. I waited for the other team to pass as we were winning until then. Once they left I got the baton and won even tho they had a head start on me and we got disqualified. They did too for some reason idk why.

You are also disqualified for letting the baton drop (as well as the team also) during the exchange. DON'T LET THE BATON DROP DURING THE RELAY RACE!
the 4x 400 relay is run differently due to the fact the 2nd leg is still in the same lane and then cross over-followed by the placement of the next leg 3 and 4 runners - when the baton is at the 200 meter mark-- once placed by the official- you do not change spots- even if the incoming line up has changed, since the 200 meter mark

The relay sounds nerve-wracking, our team will probably join "for fun" and I'm on that team and I'm not that fast to begin with. I have javelin for my main event and 100m dash for my second event(thought that 100m was easy, it wasn't, my side hurts when I run, I regret doing this, and still am regretting it) but that doesnt mean I'm fast in running. I got beaten by 3 seconds in a friendly race with my friend in 100m dash, and I tell you, I did my very BEST and still got beaten...I'm scared for the meet...
This helped me so much because I had a test on the race. I DO recommend that if Your P.E Coach tells you and why you may ask. My coach said to go on CZcams and see a real race because you guys did not follow the directions.

I don’t get the whole point of the baton? What if someone drops it? It’s a horrible rule to disqualify a team for dropping that shit. Imagine training for months and working ur asss off and being the fastest team but being disqualified for dropping a fuckin baton.

Doing a distance medley race this Friday and needed a quick refresh thanks! One more thing, does it matter which hand we hold the baton or no?
Yes it matter which hand u have it in. If you is the first one u must have it in ur right, second left, third right, last left

If you drop the baton no need to panic you don't get disqualified, but only the the runner who drop it can pick it up.

Because the bigger the circle gets the longer u have to run to the persons on the outer sides are place in front for equal diatance
