In this video I conduct a similar test to see how they perform in talking head / interview situations.
I thought it would be useful to see how much you can fit in the frame at distances from 1-3 metres.

As others have stated, we searched thru CZcams for a video such as this one. It wasn't easy! There are many such videos but all fall short in terms of what people are looking for.
I have a podcast channel and was thinking about using a different lens that would fit my needs. This video is absolutely underrated and deserves way more views. Time and time again, I visited this video to get a good comparison of the lens for my Sony A6000, and this video never fails. Thanks for this! I own the 16mm & 56mm. Was considering the 35mm for some video headshots. The 56mm at two meters gives me that commercial talking headshot look I've been going for. But having the 30mm seems to offer more versatility as well. Great comparison!

2 meters with 30mm is my choice
But most of us like the mic just on the top of the camera so 1 meter with 16mm is still hard to let go

Yes agreed - mic positioning does start to become a factor - keep toying with the idea of getting a Rode Wireless Go kit

Hey Monica, i agree that is the best overall look. I would go with that lens, and invest in a mic stand to hover over your head at that distance for audio quality or just get a lav mic then your problems are solved. I invested in the 16mm as well, now I wish I bought the 30 instead, however, they both have their uses and it might be good to switch them up for different videos or within videos so its not a loss!
