    I used to think I was envious of Kofuzi’s runs through downtown Chicago, but watching his runs through boring old Iowa makes me realize I admire his video skills, not where he’s running.

  • @levandmarthapolyakin-aaron2183

    This is a shoe that makes me happy just looking at it. First, that blue midsole is one of the most stunning colors I’ve ever seen in a midsole, and unlike the Saucony lineup (at least the Endorphins) it’s not painted on. Secondly, I love the combination of the snug midfoot + great heel hold with the generous toe box. I have 60 mi on mine with little to no sign of wear on my outsoles either. I have a love-hate relationship with the laces. For me they’re rather easy to cinch down in the midfoot and if anything, when my feet swell a bit while running they actually end up on the tighter side, because the barbed-like edges don’t allow the laces to budge. But they are way too long. Interestingly the HE2 laces are just the right length for me. I wish Brooks (and all other brands) would include a 2nd set of laces of different length, like the Saucony Ride 13 is doing. But I always say that laces shouldn’t be a deal breaker since they’re cheap and easy to replace.

      Mike has joked that it’s so delicious a color it looks edible--like part of a fancy wedding cake or something. I agree. The color makes me happy every time I look at it, and unlike the Saucony lineup, it’s not painted on so won’t flake off if scratched.

    The Brooks Hyperion Tempo is my shoe of the year - I've been enjoying all those tempo runs and track sessions a lot more. Now that winter has arrived, everybody please just keep in mind that the outsole gets damaged easily by grit on sidewalks, I had to pull some tiny stones out after a run and noticed some holes in the outsole. Keep them for the warmer months...

      @levandmarthapolyakin-aaron2183 Před 3 lety +2

      I had the Beacon 1 and I presently have had the Hyperion Tempos for several months. Based on the Beacon I had, it depends on your preferred kind of cushion. The Beacon was much softer foam. I personally prefer the responsive, firmer midsole of the Tempos, but for slow, easy days that might not be the best use of them. Yesterday I did a track workout that included a slow warmup and slow cool down with a challenging speed workout of about 30 min of intervals and fartleks and my legs feel great today. Martha

    I have 303k's (188miles) on mine so far and I feel like I can easily get another 300k's out of them, and I probably will try to. I love the midsole, the lightness of the shoe, outsole is nice and grippy and I really love the snug fitting upper. Probably my favourite shoe in terms of fit and comfort apart from the Endorphin Speed of which I've done 318k's in. The laces threw me at first but I haven't had any lockdown issues...just takes an extra few seconds to get the lacing right. So no real complaints from me with this shoe. Only minor issue for me personally is it seems the blue coloured midsole has faded over time. It's more of a light blue now. Maybe I'm imagining it :(

  • @macau.friend
    @macau.friend Před 3 lety +6

    Starting with the Rincon 2, I am slowly moving away from Nike running shoes after watching your reviews. Guess the Brooks Hyperion Tempo will at some point replace my Turbo 2 and Zoomfly FK, that is, if I can find a way to buy it in China.

    • @ericsinger6690
      @ericsinger6690 Před 3 lety +1

      The contrast between Nike running shoes and running shoes designed and built by running companies has never been more drastic. Save for the “elite” Nike runners (Alphafly next, Vaporfly next), their entire lineup is really disappointing. The Peg 37, i would argue, is actually a DISCOURAGING shoe to run in. Which is sad, because I would assume that a lot of folks who are new to running would choose it based on marketing, brand familiarity, availability, and pricing. I feel like it’s insulting that Nike would even use react foam in their shoes when they have Zoom x in the arsenal. If they really “cared” about the running experience, they would use Zoom in all of its runners. Its not as though they would go broke if they did.
      I started running in the Adios 3 and that shoe really made me fall in love with putting miles in. The Hyperion gives me that same vibe and feel. K’s description of the shoe overall is spot on with my impressions. Its like the Brooks that was made for people that want the Brooks brand runner focused engineering but aren’t quite ready for the “Dad” running shoe that they are kinda known for. I’m thinking of buying another pair just to have!
      If your looking for a trimmed down alternative to the Peg Turbo 2, i would recommend the Adizero Pro (NOT the one that’s impossible to get). I think it’s the most underrated, often overlooked plated shoe that’s out. Its like somebody took a turbo and trimmed the fat off of it. Great shoe.

    • @macau.friend
      @macau.friend Před 3 lety +1

      @@ericsinger6690 thx for sharing! I wouldn’t say Nike running shoes are terrible per se, I still love my Turbo 2 and Peg 35 after all. It’s just that there so many excellent brands out there, why restrict oneself to just one brand? The Rincon 2 has really opened my eyes to the more traditional running brands. Also own a pair of Adios 3 and absolutely love it as well. There could be a chance that I can locate a pair of Adizero Adios Pro in China. We shall see. As for Nike using React vs ZoomX, I think it just boils down to costs and affordability. Plus React last way longer than Zoom X

    I love these shoes. I'm definitely faster in the Endorphin Speed, but these aren't bad and durability is amazing. I actually love the stretchy laces, I feel they help get me a great lock down, but I think that's just me and the weirdness of my foot.

    At what point can a slower runner benefit from some of these shoes that come alive at faster paces? I hear over and over again that certain shoes preform and feel better after a certain pace is reached. Is a slower runner looking to run faster in high performance shoes wasting month if he or she cannot run fast enough to get the intended use out of the shoes?

      @@kofuzi Thank you. I gave away my zf3 because I didn't think that I, as a beginner runner, am making full use of the plate. I got Hyperion tempo and I thought I made a wrong decision. Thank you! So love your videos by the way, you made me want to start running.

    Isnt the Sketchers razor 3 or the updated version razor + a similar run/feel or even better than the brooks?

    • @kofuzi
      @kofuzi  Před 3 lety +2

      Similar. They both use a gas infusion as part of the EVA extrusion, which gives DNA Flash and Hyperburst their similarity to each other and distinctiveness from other EVA foams. But they use different gases, which results in different characteristics.
      I’ve run in the razor 3. It’s a good shoe. It’s better at easy pace. But I prefer the Tempo at faster speed

    Between lightstrike and dna flash, which one holds longer?

    • @kofuzi
      @kofuzi  Před 3 lety +1

      I haven’t put in the miles to prove it one way or the other, but my hypothesis would be that the DNA Flash would last longer. It seems like the nitrogen infused or nitrogen/CO2 infused foams last a very long time.

    Hey KOfuzi! L0ve the video. I have a question that I can't seem to find a solid answer to. I am a speed walker right now working towards running mixing in variations into my routine. Should I go for a running shoe or a walking shoe or is there really not a big difference?? I am a neutral runner who doesn't pronate much at all and I like a 4/4.5 out of 5 cushion in midsole. What would you suggest brother?

    • @isaacmendez3902

      You sound similar to me. Should try Adidas Ultraboost, Saucony Kinvara or NB Beacon V3. All works well on me. I train with weighted vest doing slow jogs and fast walks. These shoes work great for walking or running. Don't think running or walking shoes make a difference. As long as the shoe is comfortable and you dont feel hurt or pain after your training.

      @@isaacmendez3902 thanx man. I use pegasus 35 turbos now but they ripped on the back midsole which is a common spot for that extended foam part. I like the cushioned feel on them so I want something similar. One thing I'd want is higher ankle coverage for a more secure feel bc my turbos sit lower. Appreciate your feedback

      @@mattyboy947 No problem! I loaned my friend's Pegasus 37 and those were great as well! Its more for my speed runs! But yes those ain't great for daily trainers in my opinion. I have to admit they don't seem to last. But great for speed! My only Nike was a Nike Zoom Fly Flyknit. Not bad shoe too! Similar to the pegasus. Adidas UB is an all rounder trainer, snug fit, nice comfort and great Continental sole for almost all condition runs. Got an UB19 for about S50 USD. Great buy, stock clearance from a supplier, making way for the more expensive UB20's flooding the market.
