hi there. I am tempted to buy this hard drive and curious whether it has the saturn games I want. is it possible to show me the complete list of saturn games? Many thanks
Can yo see full screen the games? Can play games in PAL en PS2 ?
Thank You this video is great
which video to watch if im going to start from scratch from 0
I know some people want something like this that seems to save them time, but once you've set up your own system once you realise how satisfying it can be. Plus you end up with what you wanted in the first place (hopefully) and then it's way easier if you want to add to it or create a new one from scratch.
Thanks for the great video. Sometimes it's worth showing inferior products to show people their limitations. 🙂
I have to agree with you. 👍
I agree totally. I spent weeks on mine and it's still not done.. But I know I built this.
@@albertsmith99 not if you're getting your software/firmware from legit websites. I have built/set up at least a dozen systems over the years and not once have I encountered any virus or malware.
@@albertsmith99 who said anything about sharing proprietary intellectual property?
I'm talking about custom firmware. Adding ROMs is up to the individual and should be legit backups of games they own.
You're assuming that I'm talking about using illegal copies of ROMs. At no point did I say as much.
Go start an argument with someone else and stop implying that I'm engaging in illegal activities.
@@albertsmith99 They are right you know
These are so handy to make your own setup, have all the roms and bios, and can clean it up, still saves heaps of time. Once cleaned up you can add more games.
Always love your videos man as I’ve been getting into emulation over the last year your honest reviews are always appreciated I know even if it is a gifted product you will always give an honest fair assessment.
I agree with you totally on this one the build looks sloppy considering your using your own PC you would think they would put a little more time into making sure all systems run decently and ps2/ps3 not running at all is pretty unacceptable.
Oh it has Batocera. Glad I saved the money and did it myself the other week on a free pc a neighbor gave me.
@@richarddukard8989 A 2 year old HP Slim 290, with an Intel Celeron G4900 inside, no gpu. Runs most games well.
@@Adalwolf17 I just want the wii u and ps2 and ps3 games
I got a computer off facebook for 10 bucks, and put a gt1030 in and built my own batocera pc, it only goes up to Dreamcast but it was a fun little project, looked up some no intro rom sets, everything was complete. It wasn't that hard to do, the hardest part was finding the correct bios sets, the correct naming and folder structure of them too.
Yeah, my step mom's not doing that.
A pre-configured Batocera retro gaming hard drive, with games up to 1TB, is fine to get started with emulation gaming on windows based systems.
2 questions. are there any system requirements from my pc?
and how to connect another controller to it?
I think it would be worth paying money for a well curated 1G1R collection, properly organized with metadata and images, with up to date english translated patched roms, undubs, important hacks and the best version of each game. But I have yet to see one being sold. What I see is a huge dump of no-intro, redump etc and that's it. I can do that much myself.
I am really thinking of do this as soon as I get a little time. I build arcade shells out of MDO board only as I love quality. I had enough of garbage out there.
@@quantumfx2677 I am currently in the process of doing that for my personal collection. Then I can easily deploy it through Launchbox, to android or whatever.
@@antwango Not sure. Is that true? I wouldn't know.
1G1R stands for “One Game One ROM”. Most games will have many different versions, whether it's due to region (USA, Europe, Japan), or even to revisions. What 1G1R does is keep the USA ROM and latest revision. 1G1R sets will also include every Europe exclusive, Japan exclusive that's in English, all Japanese to English fan translations, unlicensed titles, and any prototypes that didn't get a full release.
All USA, European exclusives, and Japanese exclusives are Redump/No-Intro verified
Hey, I’ve been trying to add games to this hard drive, but it says I need to format it
I don’t know how to add stuff without formatting it, wondered if you knew
Thanks for the heads up🤘😎
I made my own version of this with CoinOPS, an SSD, and a Retroflag NESPi4 hard drive enclosure.
I got this but can't get it to boot up! went into the bios changed the setting for it, tried every F1-F12 and nothing, and for some reason it shows two hard drives instead of one.
I think my thought process is too similar to yours, and while this has a market it seems niche and still a little intrusive for a plug and play person. I think you hit this very well. It is still more technical but it bypasses the first main barrier of software and rom procurement that may look prettier but you give the truth and let the consumer make there own decisions on the facts.
I don't have reliable internet so this is actually a life saver
I bought a great case but not quite, I have no sound neither on the laptop nor on the pc, I also have no image on the tv when connected with an hdmi cable ((
Hey MLP, can you use this with a retro pie? Technically it’ll boot from the drive automatically
So, what would you recommend to download? I'm considering retrogamer ps4u. It's gonna be a 2TB download though.
Totally agree thanks
Helped me dodge a bullet on that one
Emulation helps keep the cost down for collectors so it’s a win win. I’m the lazy one that prefers the plug and play.
Hello! Thx for the video! Do you think that i can run smooth with an I5 3450? I have also a Gtx750 2gb but that don t work with batocera. Thank you for your advice.
@@ToothpickMan11 thank you very much!👍
One point to mention, if you're using an old pc with an old bios you may need to update the bios in order for it to recognise this hard drive. Might have something to do with the micro-b connector which is relatively new tech. I had to.
This would be awesome for areas with low internet access who would have a hard time downloading all the games
I paid 150 for the 128 gb retro box. Was last year when quarantine was on deep so prices were high. Also the stimulus made alot of others greedy. It plays ps 1 , Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis. Etc .
I'm very busy (kids ;-)) and love something simple - just plug and play - what do you recommend?
The HDD plugin is an awesome idea to me - I can just use it on my laptop anywhere, rather than needing a monitor or TV. Is there a similar product out there that's set up and configured well?
Appreciate your advice.
Exactly what I was gonna ask!
There must be a good plug and play setup, similar to the Pawky Pad - just better??
Isn't there?
@@gibbions I have a retro odroid setup, but I don't really get to use it, because of the aforementioned situation. cables, tv/monitor etc.
Just a HDD sounds so awesome.
let's hope the veterans here have some good recommendations for us ;)
I've actually been quite happy with the Super Console X box myself. It's not quite powerful enough to run high end stuff like Dreamcast, PS2, Wii, Gamecube etc so I can't wholeheartedly say go for it without any reservations, but if they were to release a new box with higher specs I would be interested.
Super Console X King is the best at the moment
@@rmgb-tv thank you - but that's a console, not a bootable HDD solution, right?
do you recommend any download links for a real nice build with lots of games and systems?
Wow this runs very smooth
Thank you for the video can you add another video about how to and install it in the computer please because I bought one but I don’t know how can I start it thank you
Every computer is different and it will depend on your bios. My bios is accessed with F12, but others are ‘delete’ or F1. The next time you boot up your computer try to get a look at the screen as it loads because that information is usually displayed when you boot up your pc.

I tend to spend 80% of my gaming time (which is much much reduced now) playing DC Mr Driller on a portable device (currently a Gamesir x2 with a samsung phone). I play around with emulators and other games a fair bit, but I usually only go back to Mr Driller (except for the occasional tower defense binge). The only thing that I really really want is to play Saturn Baku baku animal on a handheld device. As far as I know this only runs with mednafen on pc. I was interested in the Steam deck but it'll probably be another year or so before it comes to my region.
Il gioco non funziona si potrebbe sapere qualcosa su come installarlo su Windows 10?grazie
Awesome review Ron. I agree, if it was more polished it would be worth it probably.
Of course it would be worth it if it were polished. That's why the NES/SNES/Genesis/Turbografx minis sold so well.
@@glenndoiron9317 very true! Although people still wanted them hacked...can't please everybody 😛
hi how to operate this pawky pad
Batocera is great but it really is one of those set-ups best created from scratch. Nvidia cards are disabled by default and if that's what you use, you'll experience a lot of issues with higher end consoles unless you edit the config with notepad++. I recently set up my own build a couple weeks ago and it's a bit of work but we'll worth it once configured.
Would love to see a video on making one from scratch!
Thanks for sharing.
My question is how did this person compress all those Wii PS3 PS2 games those are pretty huge
@@Gloptarts or compressed the isos all together
Where do you find all the retro games
What is the best plug and play that you can plug into a TV with most of the systems and lotta games
?
pawky box, arcade box, super console x
Can this hook up to an android tablet
Which is better? This or the pawky box pro?
How's PS2? Does it run smoothly? Does it need required specs to run it?
Where did you get that kick ass Digimon mat?
Hi do You have the link purchase?
If I buy an Android Box and plug this in would it work
Hello, I have the pawky pad, and I don't know how to install it on the pc, could you show how you installed it on the pc, thanks
He just selected to boot from it. Plug it in, turn pc on, & keep pressing F8 to bring up the boot menu. If that doesn't work you can select boot order in bios by pressing F2 or Del at start up instead.
Any one have the link to download all the contents of that hard drive ??
Thaks for the heads up
i have to start from ground zero. i lost all my retro rom collection.l ( 5 years off&on). anyone have a gdrive with roms you don’t mind sharing?
So do you even need windows installed? Or can i put some hardware together and boot straight from this without even installing windows?
You ever figure this out??
Are there any devices like that that have a polished library. I feel like that’s the worst part of doing anything emulation wise.
?
I say get a pc.
If you're talking about applications that organize your games with many kinds of emulations try LaunchBox
@@realhumanbean46 S/he's clearly talking about something similar to the Pawky Pad.
Can I use this on my Nvidia Shield?
I always feel so stupid when it comes to getting emulation working for me. I see tutorials online showing how to get setup, but when I try it myself, there's always something I can't get to work. I quickly hit a wall, and I can never really figure out what it is I'm either doing wrong, or missing. So it just becomes an exercise in frustration for me. Recently, I tried setting up Batocera on a flash drive. I tried MvC2 for Dreamcast, and got that working. But when I tried getting other games to work, nothing. Tried to look for BIOS files, nothing. Tried different ROMs, nothing.
Start off using stand alone emulators. Not the ones that come bundled with every emulator out there. Nestopia Nintendo emulator for example. You just need roms to run it. Extract the roms, locate the extracted roms with nestopia. Pick a rom and it will boot up. Setup many emulators using stand alone ones. Then bundle them together using launchbox front end, it's free. RetroArch comes with bundled emulators in it. They call the emulators "cores". RetroArch is a very good emulator but some (cores) do have problems. Using stand alone emulators you will have no issues. Example of core not working. Try playing Mario 64 on firestick 4k with RetroArch. The 2 cores they allow you to use don't run the game. Use the same rom on a stand alone emulator called mupen or project 64. It runs no problem. It's best to learn both ways.
@@100Bucks Thanks for the advice, though I did manage to find the solution. Turns out I put the BIOS files in the wrong folder. Silly me, I thought I was supposed to put the BIOS files in the BIOS folder. Apparently, I was supposed to put them in the Share folder. That's what I get for using common sense. This was a key detail that wasn't mentioned in the tutorial I followed, and only found the correct solution by pure chance through another video. Games are running as they should. Now it's just a matter of finding what works, and what doesn't.
I ordered one from Ali Express with the intentions of having a detailed look at it and then sending it back. I have Batocera on a thumb drive already but I’m curious about the 2TB worth of games. (Yes, they are at 2TB now).
is that same product like this one.?
is the ps2 and ps3 games working.?
Please, let me know about the product.
Thanks
@@philibertpraembun7026 It is the same one… the “Pawky Pad” I got it without controllers. Just an SD drive you plug in and boot into.
The high end systems are terrible. Wii has 7 games, Wii U has 1, There are no PS3 games but GameCube has 200 and PS2 has 200. That’s about it for high end systems.
So we have to download the PS3 games by our own?
Is the PS2 games working?
You think it will play on the ps classic
Thanks for covering this for us.
It works on macbook?
Will this run on a Mac?
I have a Vita and other consoles I can mod but you stand a chance of bricking. Many of us don't have a computer or we would just play free emulation on PC. But many like me are POOR. I get SSDI due to Parkinson's. I worked my whole life and now can't. I'd love to spend 500 or 600 on a computer. But on a budget . I only have a tablet cause I bought it off this cool dude . Mad little pixel. Who gave me a deal off a promo . Any computer that has a drive and ports are 500. Cheap couple hundred dollar systems are tablets with keyboard . Nothing to place anything to. Or I would.
I dont can play configure it in my pc :(
A single "master collection" for the USA would be nice if I could find one. Without this, you are stuck finding little collections and pieces here and there, and trying to merge them. If the files are identical, this is easy. But if they are not then you have to compare them. You have two different copies of the same game. Is one PAL and one NTSC? Is it is Japanese or English? How about hacks or cracks included? All of this makes compiling a "master" list of ROMs for any particular system very time-consuming.
Just tell your viewers that they cant have cheap and ready to play.
For $99.00 im sure the seller has an image that he puts on the drive . and you hit the nail on the head, anything that you are proud of you have to do the build yourself, unless you got some cash to dump, I'd say try launch box, i think its a better look, and the more time spent setting it up will make it exponentially better. (word of the day)
Can ypu make a list of all the games
Have you tried it on hacked ps2?
Hey guys, very generic question but what is everyone’s view in the best prebuilt to date? I am literally at a lost with so many options and products like this that are not up to scratch. Thanks
Pre builts are ok but roms are a mixed bag I have a 2tb and use it only as a starter to my rom collection
i found this in your store. ill take it
Does this have ps2 games?
Seems like something that could be decently popular in developing countries.
Awesome
Why doesn't it work on an external monitor
Have looked into some of these and most don't work on X64 pc's/laptop. They are setup for X86, so be careful. May buy one and not work on your pc
Ele funciona em tvs?
Hi need for Pawky pad
6:10 👀
Always remember this guys. If you have a premade pc even a premade gaming pc. the EUFI could be totally locked. If this is your PC. You will need a drive that works on windows.
Do you need a pc or?
How to play in tv
Working on TV?
The same usb drive I got on my Xbox one
Does it work on a tv?
as long as your computer has video or HDMI - cable goes to TV
Will this work on chrome books?
chromebooks are utter garbage, u just need linux
It runs ps2?
For me the roms are the hardest part and freaks me out because of how risky many websites are.
Can I use this on a Television..???
Nahh
aorry if I bother, I don't speak english very well, so I can't find out the price of this HD stuffed of retrogames 😔
Super Console X King for the win.
thinking of buying the king but seeing ppl talk about input lag, have u noticed any on yours? How’s the device for heat?
I ready do myself I can play up PS3 games
I definitely wouldn't waste money on this I'd rather build my own using a raspberry pi 4 and a 1 TB hard drive or bigger.
I did a Batocera external build this past weekend and I would rather take the time to do that than buy something put together in haste. If you have the ROMs and BIOS files, go for it.
If you have to already own a PC anyway, just buy some decent game controllers. I was thinking this would come with an ARM powered TV box. Heck, buy a bluetooth gamepad if you have an Android phone with video output.
I just about filled up my Nintendo drive ultimately if you can go on reddit then you have all the consoles available.
I don't think I'll ever understand the people that buy these.
I spent 2 years procrastinating - every month a new device, new pro's and con's, price points etc etc
ended up just downloading Retroarch and DamonPS2 and on my phone (Samsung S9) and to my _utter_ amazement, it runs all my 8, 16 and 32bit games *perfectly* - PS1 is fantastic!
even runs The Getaway nicely (with some soundtrack hitching)
can't believe I gave so much time and energy to shopping for a decent retro solution, when the device I was holding was already *perfect*
If you've got a half decent phone - just use your phone!
Ok thanks, then will wait for a better build from pawky...
He sounds like Wreck It Ralph. 😂 No offense, I like Wreck It Ralph.
Wont run if your pc is x64, not x86
wait ... that's illegal 😂
Those controllers…..😂
They buy it already done so they can blame someone but themselves if something goes wrong, no matter if the user is at fault
I like the OS BUT THE CONTROLLERS ARE SHII
What is the awful SNES game music at the end? lol name of game please
Does it play ps5 games?
The double screenshot for every game is really annoying lol
Bezel Project is the only way to go. It looks awesome and authentic on my curved widescreen monitor. Feels just like the arcade with a tankstick in front.
