You are absolutely correct. So what does luxury mean to you? When you consider the cost of this rent I think its pretty luxurious.

Lapu Lapu (Mactan) is expensive, but, fully self contained, everything needed is easily available. Very little inconvenience like you’d experience living in the Provence

$555 in Mactan for a studio? I have a luxary one bedroom furnished on 41st floor connected to super large mall for $450 and includes wifi, gyms, and 3 pool in Quezon City.

But the view of the ocean is not there in QC, thats the big difference.
Plus it’s a township which has a beachfront resort within the area thats the biggest factor

Looks like you have a real seniors village thing going on there. I love it. Here in Canada a seniors village of any good quality runs up around $7000 month! Compare that with your $550 rent! I'm on my way.

This area is still developing. So the price is still that cheap.
But in the next few years, it might increase. The better the infrastructure surrounding the place, the better the living situation, usually means the higher the price. But...that's still so much better than the prices here in the west.

is this typical prices in phillipines? in thailand or cambodia you would find a similar studio probably half that price. it is a nice building and safe

Looking to come over for a 6mo stay. I would like an area like IT park for a good expat socializing since this will be 1 trip to PI. Any recommendations. Ty.
Hi George, I stayed at Mactan Newtown for three months. There was quite a lot of expats there. Would usually hang out in front of the 2 coffee shops or at the pools. Its far from the IT park and Ayala Mall. I also really like going to the terraces at the IT Park. I stayed at Bamboo Bay for a while. I liked that because there was a gym ,pool and friendly people, with an exception or two.. The location was central, Park Mall, Ayala Mall in close range. If you golf at all? Try golfing, You get the cart, Cadee and Umbrella girl for a reasonable price. In the states this is not affordable.

When I stayed there they only had daily and monthly rates. I would imagine some owners probably have a weekly discounted rate.
